I'm so glad you folk did TVR finally, as a Brit it's one of my favourite car manufacturers, but why didn't you mention the Speed 12? It's probably one of their best/scariest/biggest mistakes of a car ever and it's awesome
Most tvr's are 8 cilinders. First rover v8's then inhouse developed v8's and the last 3 or 4 years they sold the speed 6. All griftith and chimera and later tasmins are v8 anyway. The cerbera was v8 and later also i6. The tuscans etc where also i6's i think. But with tv's everything is possible. Any engine in any car with any interiour. Same years with different lights and specs. Tvr never was very concistent plus on request most everything was possible.

But with regards to this particular Sagaris in question, it, like all Sagaris cars, began life with its Straight 6, but has since been given a LS V8 by Top Cats Racing. I have regularly seen the only road going car with the 7.7 litre V12, because my son knows the former owner and did some work on it to get it ready for sale last year, when it sold for over half a million pounds. My son has been for a ride in it, but I'm too tall to fit through the roll cage. I also saw it at an airfield day and it was a) bloody fast and b) bloody loud.
In Japan, where I'm from, TVR is considered the manliest automaker among the car freaks. The cars are expensive but not a stuck up middle class rocket case.
I miss the Lexus LFA, and its crazy powerful Nürburgring variant. Honestly, FCA and Toyota could have had one awesome rivalry with the Dodge/Chrysler Viper ACR and the Lexus LFA if the people from both companies had some damn balls, do you not agree, @Left Right? Also, the TVR company failed ultimately not due to a lot of bad luck, but, rather, to a few arrogant, prideful, and elitist assholes that simply ran their mouths more than they knew how to make a company. Had they paid attention to actual safety standards, TVR, and its bosses, as well as employees, could have truly made some game changing vehicles with crazy powerful horsepower, torque, speed times, and speed limits.
A car that catches fire n has no safety features is definitely the manliest automaker, anywhere. In the U.S. that level of manliness is now considered "Toxic".

Here's a fun thing, if a bit sad. Peter decided to commission his own V8 for the 90s. So came the AJP8, the Speed 8 (Al John Peter) Flat plane 4.5L V8 SOHC. About 400bhp from 120kilos (210lbs) Redlined at 8000rpm. The only other way to get that noise is in a 90s F1 car, it really was a terrifying noise and they are sadly now vanishingly rare.
It doesn't sound like a 90's f1 car... it's a 75° v8 and the bottom end is pretty much identical to a 90's f1 car. It does sound really unique though, and ludicrously fast 😎.
Shame it only appeared in the Cerbera, seems like a huge waste of an engine to only ever appear in 1 model. It was supposedly more reliable than the speed 6, but more costly to produce.

I watch this whole video and they skipped right over the story of the TVR Cerbera Speed 12, one of the most legendary prototypes in car history. Weighed as much as the newest TVR but had double the horsepower. It was insane.

Got my first TVR when I was 24yo - a V8S, which was so loud it used to set off car alarms as I drove it past Then a Griffith 500, followed by a Tuscan Red Rose edition [which was a very early & unreliable one], and have now had my current Tuscan S for about 12 years now... Still absolutely epic to drive. And the (stock) exhausts are basically motorbike-style cans, so it sound like a 4-litre bike when warm

I am from the US and they are very hard to ignore. It's like a 90's Viper. You can ignore so many cars, but you don't ignore a TVR. Sadly, they are track only until you can import them due to the cars age.

The Sagaris is actually one of my favorite cars that ever came out of the UK. Love the radical styling, engine and the whole idea behind the concept. So sad to see them sruggle so much.
As ever with British car industry, we have great ideas but poor management skills. But yes TVR were always unique and blew away the show. You wouldn’t think seeing a Sagaris that it was nailed together by some blokes in a shed in Blackpool. My neighbouring city in-fact.
The Cerbera Speed 12 is in the Lakeland Motor Museum in the Lake district . I worked on it back in the day. The original purple speed 12 ended up being cut up and thrown in a skip . You used to be able to buy models of that one . there is also the Tuscan R which was a beast ,not many of those made .And if you want really wierd type in " TVR Scamander " Peter Wheelers last creation . I painted that .

TVRs were always some of my favorite cars in the late 90s early 2000s. I especially loved the Cerbera and Cerbera Soeed 12. I never heard about the Sagaris. That thing is beautiful. They were so light and quirky. They seemed like real drivers cars.
That would be mostly a politics and business history lesson. And the aftermath is just too massive to cover up easily, as it changed the auto industry forever, most notably in the US.

Yeah they did. I've got one. Built from 1977 - 78 they made 3 turbo variants of the M-series cars. The 3000s, the 3000m and the Taimar Turbo. Of each of the three they only made about 20 of each at most. Dm me if you wanna know anything else about them or if you want a picture or something.
I would love to see TVR make a comeback with something that looks a lot like that last Griffin, because that was a stunner. Though, at this point, they may want to rethink their way to electric drivetrains if they want to be the most performant.

I watch this whole video and they skipped right over the story of the TVR Cerbera Speed 12, one of the most legendary prototypes in car history. Weighed as much as the newest TVR but had double the horsepower. It was insane.
TVR's are terrifying.
Even Jeremy Clarkson approached them with caution.
Only because Peter Wheeler laughed at Clarkson and didn't help when his land rover caught fire when they were shooting together in Clitheroe. Before that they were best mates.

Every time I think of TVR, I remember Top Gear using one to go through a speed camera fast enough to not appear in the picture it captured.
For me it's the "old british sportscar challenge" when they visited old dilapidated TVR factory and found old unfinished shells (TVR Tamora I think).

Then a Griffith 500, followed by a Tuscan Red Rose edition [which was a very early & unreliable one], and have now had my current Tuscan S for about 12 years now...
Still absolutely epic to drive. And the (stock) exhausts are basically motorbike-style cans, so it sound like a 4-litre bike when warm

I am from the US and they are very hard to ignore. It's like a 90's Viper. You can ignore so many cars, but you don't ignore a TVR. Sadly, they are track only until you can import them due to the cars age.

Broke a dyno, loud as f that it's illegal to drive and it drove like an even more maniacal dodge viper, called this car insane is pretty much an understatement.
Marc read that a company has revived the tvr speed 12 in the form of the TR speed 12, an updated version inspired by the tvr.
ALx99 It needed traction control and driving aids, but they wouldn’t fit them and the car scared racing drivers.

The Sagaris is actually one of my favorite cars that ever came out of the UK. Love the radical styling, engine and the whole idea behind the concept. So sad to see them sruggle so much.
As ever with British car industry, we have great ideas but poor management skills. But yes TVR were always unique and blew away the show. You wouldn’t think seeing a Sagaris that it was nailed together by some blokes in a shed in Blackpool. My neighbouring city in-fact.

The Cerbera Speed 12 is in the Lakeland Motor Museum in the Lake district . I worked on it back in the day. The original purple speed 12 ended up being cut up and thrown in a skip . You used to be able to buy models of that one . there is also the Tuscan R which was a beast ,not many of those made .And if you want really wierd type in " TVR Scamander " Peter Wheelers last creation . I painted that .

TVRs were always some of my favorite cars in the late 90s early 2000s. I especially loved the Cerbera and Cerbera Soeed 12. I never heard about the Sagaris. That thing is beautiful. They were so light and quirky. They seemed like real drivers cars.

Yeah they did. I've got one. Built from 1977 - 78 they made 3 turbo variants of the M-series cars. The 3000s, the 3000m and the Taimar Turbo. Of each of the three they only made about 20 of each at most. Dm me if you wanna know anything else about them or if you want a picture or something.
