Matthew Giblin - Lightwav

The original idea for Lightwav was to create a short clip of music that sounded like it came out of the 1960s or 1970s era so that I could sample it into another record. After creating the short clip, I was inspired to build it out more because I loved the groove so much. The instruments in it feature my Fender Stratocaster, pbass, Abbey Road 60s drummer plug-in, and a few retro-sounding synths that I designed using serum. The concept of songs having different iterations is fascinating to me, so naturally this song has a darker, more moody sibling that coexists with it as well.
