Does the sand texture dry clear? I remember once trying the "natural sand" (I think it's the same thing but renamed) and it looked "off" because it dried almost transparent.
The Liquitex products dry mostly clear. Unfortunately since I have made this video they aren't made any more due to being "unsustainable" (their words, not mine) so I have switched to using Vallejo Grey Pumice for my ground texture which works even better.

You can mix the glue or the resin with acrylic paint to accelerate the process a bit... it works really well!
