    Looks excellent. The Vallejo thick mud says it has traces of vegetation. I swear it looks like it could have a small amount of saw dust in it.

    Excellent stuff! This has been my go-to basing recipe for over a year now. I crumbled cork bits up into some batches for heavy stones and it works really great too.

    Great work. I especially noted the little Home Chef jars you saved to store the excess. Brilliant!

    I was already doing something similar with just sand and pva glue. This will help for sure. Good stuff.

      Thanks, and don't be shy with the PVA, it keeps the wall filler from becoming brittle.

    Has anyone tried dying the paste using the pigment powders available? I found some that I thought would make a great mars/desert type color but I am super new to mini painting in general just seemed like something that might be fun to try

    • @CamoSpecsOnline
      @CamoSpecsOnline  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can absolutely change the color of the paste with any pigment be it powder, ink, or paint. Write down the recipe though in case you need to make more later that will match.

      I've not tried that but I think if you primed it white and got some good coverage, it could be an option.

    Great work here and a much appreciated 'How To'. ?does it hold grass up very well, or do you need multiple layers?

    • @CamoSpecsOnline
      @CamoSpecsOnline  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      SEscarlett I assume you mean static grass? I haven’t tried incorporating that into the still wet material, but it would be interesting to see. I imagine it would hold ok but would likely need a drop of glue to help secure the grass.

    This may be a noob question but why color the mixture instead of just painting it after it dries?

    • @CamoSpecsOnline
      @CamoSpecsOnline  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It allows you to pre set a color if you wish where after drying you can use washes and drybrush to finish without base coats. Additionally, adding paint or pigment prevents areas that can get missed when base coating. GWs line of technicals are all colored.

    How long does the batch keep for? Do you need to use it all right away?

    • @CamoSpecsOnline
      @CamoSpecsOnline  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use fairly airtight containers and have it last anywhere from a few weeks to a couple months. You can also periodically add a bit of water. Just be aware that it will likely grow mold if you keep doing that for an extended period.

  • @MayhemGames

    I tried this and got a goopy mess that acts more like silly putty.

    • @CamoSpecsOnline
      @CamoSpecsOnline  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Perhaps the wall filler used reacted with the glue and prevented curing. I would first suggest trying a different type or brand of either.

    • @MayhemGames
      @MayhemGames 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@CamoSpecsOnline you nailed it! Tried a different brand and it works! Thanks!

      In the USA, Michael's Crafts Store has very fine sand like this in their "vase fillers" area. They have several different colors and grain sizes, including small rocks. There is also a glass product sold for the same purpose that you can sometimes find in Dollar Tree stores. It's a bit larger grain than the Michael's stuff, but can be good to mix in for some variety.
