    Making a set of Wooden Hand Screw clamps. These are DIY clamps that most anyone can make in a couple hour with basic tools. Today we are showing all hand tool woodworking using a hand plane and hand saw to make a set of homemade clamps. Just like the Woodwright shop we are all hand tools and traditional methods.

    What I like about the bark edge is that eventually the bark will pop off. What's underneath will be just as, or maybe even more pretty and you get the surprise of seeing how it turns out.

    Today, I am in pain again having to sit. The difference is my mind wants to keep going. I have toons of automotive tools and a number of woodworking tools as it is my job to fix, repair or create what I need. As the oldest of four on the family farm, you made what you needed as there is no weekly allowance. I found this channel and enjoy it very much. Not goofy teeth, loud stupid music, just straight up “Watch this, here’s how I do it. Great, subscribed!
    Now, Sunday Oct. 2019 this is for the 19 thumbs down people. I don’t hate you but feel sorry for you. Why? You will never know the satisfaction of creation or 3 rows of calluses on your hands. After all, 320 million people, most don’t know how the shiny thing on the door works! You just push it, turn it or ask it to open to let you escape outside the box you keep your skinny jeans and hair jell plus other stuff you feel is precious. Isn’t that special... Something in the world bad happens, you’ll be the first to disappear. Sad. This guy, others like him & gals do actually work think and complete a task. Creation, even as hand screws give me a certain satisfaction and him, a legacy.
    Thank God for people like him or me, because after, without us, you wouldn’t have round wheels for your Lexus.

    Hi James, I've seen a few of you wooden screw making videos as well as other makers. What I don't understand is how do you set the thread pitch ... Threads per inch, it just appears to be random on the initial circular turn. Is it possible to predict/specify 2,3 or 4 tpi??

    • @WoodByWright
      @WoodByWright  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Each screw box has the threads built into it so it is designed to work perfectly with the tap. Usually you make the tap first and then tap a nut into a screw block and that will then feed the screw at a standard rate.

  • @caseycardwell3308
    @caseycardwell3308 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video! What wood and oil did you use for the screws? Those threads looked perfect.

    • @WoodByWright
      @WoodByWright  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are Oak. It would be slightly better to use maple, but it is what I had on hand. It was raw linseed oil.

    • @caseycardwell3308
      @caseycardwell3308 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wood By Wright I have a huge amount of white oak, so that's what I use too. I've been using mineral oil to soak them, and had mixed experience with thread chipping.
