The lavender inner frame makes canonical sense because the mK II was a titans suit and they love their lavender
I been building mgs since 2002 and I can tell you this kit was revolutionary when it came out. It was such a giant increase in quality compared to the 1.0. You can see the quality increase in mgs post this kit as well.
Hehehehehehe my oldest Master Grade is actually the first one having a full Action Inner Frame, the MG God Gundam (2001). I've been crying for a 2.0 ..for a long time.. then they announced the HiRm..

"Full Action" but paralyzed with ball-and-socket hips. They even pull a bait-and-switch on the box by showing a picture of the model doing a side kick, but it's actually a back kick with a forced perspective camera trick. They really dropped the ball with those hips on a robot that's supposed to be able to pull off martial arts.
Barely Silver tier? This is a still a gold tier kit IMO.
I've never had a problem with the hands on mine. They work well enough with what you get with the kit.
You mentioned the combining stands with the Zeta 2.0, but this also has cross-compatibly with the Nemo kit so they use the same weapons and shields too.
@Nomar Bulalakaw technically Hazel reuse the Mk-II frame so it's doesn't feel right saying that.

I don't think it's allowed, both AEUG and EF have a very strong policies against crumbles and sauce stains in the cockpit!

The 2.0 MK2 is seriously one of my all time favorite MG’s. It can still compete with the more modern MG’s even though it’s such a dated kit. Thanks for finally reviewing it for us. Cheers from Texas brother!

@@hazardouscookies1164 it doesn’t appear that way at all. He has complimented the MK II a few times now in the first five minutes of the vid.
13:20 Yeah, just built this. And I see why it loosens up. The hit socket part connects to the hips via a small part that also acts as a ratchet style effect. You have to force past the ratchet to swing the hips down, which wears it down. However, I find that the extreme bend of the legs actually allows you to do kneeling and crouching poses even without the swing. I plan to just ignore that articulation entirely as a result.
I think it could use a 3.0 release. It was the machine that perfected the moveable frame that made the Zeta possible. It needs a version that proves it.
The 2.0 is by far one of my favorite models out there. It was a big step up in my opinion over it's original release, and still one of the best MG kits out there outside of the Ver Ka line up. I did a number of paint applications to it such as painting in the gray tones in the head and front skirt, adding red to the inside of the thrusters, putting on silver and gold tones in the frame and hydrolics. Then to top it all off I used upscaled RG decals to really bring some flare to it. It ended up being displayed at a hobby shop for 2 years before I had to take it back when I moved.
I've been in love with 2.0s recently. I built Gundam, Gyan, Zaku II and Z'Gok and I've loved them all, they're just so chunky feeling and slick and just a joy to play around with.
For real, we need to add an "all in all" counter to your videos...
What about an 'absolutely' counter?

Titans color variant doesn't have the base
That hangar base can connect to the catapult base of the MG Zeta Gundam 2.0 and make for a nice diorama style display, I miss these fun gimmicks from those kits.
Just have this thing in the Michael Jackson pose with something propping it up be one of the gundams in the background of the shelf presence tests simply for the fact of why not, AND for the fact that if a gundam has the shelf presence to stand close to one literally doing a Michael Jackson pose, then you know it’s impressive

Even though it's not great inner-frame wise compared to the RX-78 2.0, I still think this is a very great 2.0 kit and is an incredible step up from the 1.0 MK-II. I think it's one of the best of the 2.0 line and a great kick-off to it as well. To me, it is a Gold-Tier solid 9.5/10 kit.

A 3.0 is one of those 'nice to have but Bandai should prioritize upgrading a few old MGs first' suggestions imo

I am a bit baffled by his dislike of the old school hands, at least for function. Yes. It uses a peg in the hands. But the GM Sniper II, a well reviewed modern kit, also has has pegs into the weapons- and pegs for the fingers to go onto the hand (which can come off if you have any problems with the hole ection). And I find my beam sabers even more flimsy in those hands, since it is just 'clamp onto slight intents on the sides of the saber' (I am sure that there are some kits that have better connections though).

I'd be down for a 3.0 and I'll prolly buy it if they do. As long as they kept the legs with the armor separation and the chrome pistons those where some of my favorite features of this kit. I built it earlier this year and absolutely loved it. It has that amazing inner frame detail that old mastergrades had and that's another great feature I think. On my display I have one leg with almost no armor on it and the little 1/100 dudes are working in there on it. But it does need some more details on the surface of the armor
Built this yesterday; my first Master Grade. Aside from both upper arm connections being quite weak I love this thing. Definitely want to get the rest of the AEUG team
The upper arm pieces also dont sit very well on mine, have you found a fix or is it just like that

Late to the party here, but have an opinion - few series are as well liked/iconic as Zeta Gundam among Gundam fans. Both the TITANS and the AEUG Mk. IIs should get new kits, period. All *three* of the Gundams piloted by Kamille Bidan should get new versions, imo.
The gundam mk 2 is one the most underrated gundam ever, it sure lived up the name at the end of the first neo-zeon war, overall bad ass gundam of all time. The Titans version is better than the a.e.u.g version in every way.
good to be aware of the old tech shock. this sounds like it was an event at first release. that base diarama and looks is the reason I would buy this.
I own this one, and also the Titans version. Also from this series, the Zeta 2.0, oh, and i have the original 20th Anniversary, plated Zeta 1.0 ...damn memories, i stopped building gundams 10+ years ago, and watching your videos i'm now about to order a bunch of kits again :D .
Ps. once finished, i sprayed both MKIIs with matt clear coat. Imho, looks much better.
Nice. Please review the MG MS-18E Kampfer! I fully expect you will mostly hate it because it's nearly 20 years old and that shows but my god it is beautiful. A seriously awesome looking suit and the weapons are outstanding. Sorely needs a 2.0!
funny enough in-universe the Mk-II is considered a weak Gundam especially near the end of the Gryps Conflict to the point they made a G-Defenser to upgrade it but never bothered to replace the destroyed G-Defenser during the first Neo Zeon war thus has to fully rely on the amazing skills of it's pilots.
I love this kit. Ive been putting it off for years since I was waiting for a 3.0 but damn it sure does hold up even for today's standards.
The base alone is worth it to me, this review definitely sold me. Great content as always Mecha!

Just to forewarn anyone, the shield is an absolute nightmare to put together. It’s got a track system that’s next to impossible to keep together as you assemble.

This was one of my first MGs. Oddly enough the other was the f91. This is still one of the absolute best kits I've ever built.

the hanger/stand/display thing is also featured on MG Strike RM, which is not too long ago, it seems they only do it for the iconic ones

Just replace the ball joint at hips with universal joints and change the shoulders for independent shoulder armor

Got this kit 2 years ago, absolutely loved it, one of my fave kits i've built so far.
3:01 From looking at dalong and stuff, from what I can tell all the parts needed to make the build mk2 into the mk2 2.0 are included already so you don't even need to buy both unless you really want the mk2 2.0's base or dry transfers
2005 onwards are the start of good MG that aged well. Although Bandai did have some flop around 00 and Unicorn era
Look into zeta 2.0 if you haven't already, has a launch pad that connects to the mkii platform.
I built this kit last year and imo didnt feel its age at all. It's one of those must build kits if you're a Zeta or a titular suit builder. But if you're a 1/144 builder the RG is actually one of the best RG's to date even avoiding "early RG syndrome"
I've also build the PG as I got it brand new for £100 and that's also a pretty good kit despite its age.
You do get the "full hangar" but the only kit that comes with a base like that is the Zeta afaik, which can attach to the Mk-II's base.
I miss the exploits of the Sandwich Delivery Guy. I can't remember hearing from him since this, and his story is so gripping.
Building this right now and im loving it up to now, only thing i missed was stickers for the lenses in the chest? I made them myself out of some other sticker-borders, but i defo miss them
The Mk II is probably my favorite mobile suit design of all time. This boi is always gonna look good on the shelf, no matter the grade or scale.

The red sticker you putted on your shield was actually for one of the side skirts.

Should be Gold Tier in my opinion. Comparing it to more modern kits is just UNFAIR. Seriously, we all know that it's dated, but considering that at the time of it's release, this might have been one of the best. Peace!!!
This was my very first MG kit. Solid but definitely shows its age. Wouldn’t hurt to have a 3.0 👀

actually you can modify 3 molded fingers...just cut it between finger and you'll get 5 individual movable finger...but still in crawl shape finger....
Hate to be the guy to point out stuff cause I know you sort of "free build" after you tear down for panel lining but at 2:39 the left legs ankle piece for the tubing is on upside down
That's because the Mk-II is to the original Grandaddy RX-78 what the YF-19 is to the original VF-1 Valkyrie: the next generation done right. Both have something that makes them just as iconic as their predecesors.
That is honestly the best way to sum it up....now I want an MG version with just as much love the Bandai DX YF-19.

I must question this. The Mk-ii 2.0 is considered a favorite of thousands of people so how does this barley make it sliver tier? should be either high sliver or real low gold
Even though there was a HG Revive for this kit, it definitely needs a 3.0 version. Do want to see more color separation in the white areas like what they've done with the RG.
It doesn’t need a 3.0. The MK. II 2.0 still holds up in 2022.
