Such a GORGEOUS and VERSATILE amp! I like how you stressed the fact that just because it says "YJM" on it, doesn't mean this thing is a one-trick pony. Indeed, this is a souped up '59 Marshall, and a MUST for just about any rock guitarist!!!
YES! Every time I heard you play a G chord since you released At arms reach I've been thinking that you were gonna play Three Wishes and you finally did! You never fail to disappoint Chappers!
I love the way the body is carved, not to mention the hot Humbuckers. Very solid resonating tone with this setup. I like the whole Guthrie Govan Les Paul vibe the ML2 gives off, if that makes sense.
Why don't Marshall make these as a main stay in their lineup with out the yjm name they would sell like hot cakes! Everyone would love to own a plexi with these features as it makes them much more usable for most folks!
You two make great mini shows, could i make a request that some or all of the snippets of tunes you play be rolled across the screen. Keep the good work up
nice playing rob i´ ve been watching your channel for quite some time now.... after watching your way of making coffee i understood that your my kind of guy and hit the sub button! keep rockin´
With the right guitar and style, it's easy to get classic rock sounds from the yjm even at low volumes. One of my favorite tones is early Santana, and I get that sound with a Les Paul at bedroom levels through a 2x12 cab with V30s.
Hey Guys - I don't know who sumopub is or what his beef is about me (I don't care either!!), but thanks for sticking up for me & all the positive comments.
@TheBigRed2010 Thats my own Strat - its just an old 80's Strat that I've customised over the years - I love it - if you want to hear it, it features in a few of the Andertons videos on TH-cam. Cheers, Lee
On the pickups, you said they're fairly underpowered. Yngwie said once that his pickups arent high output and are actually very low output because he wanted the preamp overdrive he uses to do most of the work.
Mr. Chapman. First off I have to say that I love your videos. The Monkeylord ones and the Anderton ones. I´ve seen alomost all of them. Damn I want your job! Looks like you guys have too much fun. I have always been a fender guy ( Bassman, deluxe), but I want a Marshall. I mainly (try to) play classic rock. I´m looking for that 70´s rock sound, not the modern gainy stuff (if that makes sense). Question: Apart from the YJM you tested here, which Marshall amp would you recommend?
+Steve C ..to be exact, he is playing an Ebmaj7 chord..although visually it looks like just Emaj7, bec my guess is that the guitar is tuned down 1/2 step.. the reason you don't hear that chord most of the time is that maj7th chords are played in jazz and sometimes pop and folk/acoustic type music, whereas Rob is a shredder, they usually play major triads leaving out the 7th, which gives it that pretty/full sound. if you like those sounds , buy George Benson lps, like "Breezin"
As soon as you put the ML2 in at the end there the pickups and the tone was just wall of win in comparison to the classic sounding LP and the bratty stratty.
Marshall plexi with a strat or lespaul =best rock crunch sound ever made on the planet so far !!!!! This one come in with the perfect mods reverb, noise gate, built in overdrive but very limited and expensive. I guess the alternative will be to get a Marshall plexi reissue with a good overdrive in the front end a boss noise gate and some digital delay reverb in the loop ! will you try to do a review comparaison on this sometime it could be interresting to compare it !
Normally, I'd agree if he was bigging it up. However, Ole' Chappers rarely talks like this. I think he was hinting about a major hangover, which is an admission that half a bottle of JD nearly killed him. Maybe a t0sser would say he was still OK, being hardened and all that rubbish. I'm still warmed to him, personally. BTW, I have this amp now and it is a bit special. Cheers though, dude. Appreciate your concerns.
So is the noise gate similar to the Boss NS2? I think the NS2 reacts very well to guitar volume changes, but is the amp the same way? Thanks for the demo Chappers and Anderton's!
@RobChappers your a rock god dude :D do you like Van Halen by any chance?? Im building a FrankenStrat at the moment, nearly finished haha Going to be buying a Marshall MG15FXMS from Andertons soon aswell. Thanks for the amazing vids, keep them coming! :)
I think so, the the power attenuator thing makes it possible to get it down to 0,1 Watts so... ( I own one, and I have already used it in club environment sized places)
The pickups in the YJM start ARE stacked. (If the guitar is completely stock , that is.) Obviously, they are not stacket sideways to each other, like the SD JBjr, lil 59 or Hotrails/Coolrails are, the coils are stacked on top of each other instead, that's why they only need one set of pole pieces, and thus have the appearance of a regular singlecoil.. But to say that these pickups aren't stacked is just completely wrong, and misleading as well.. You cannot get a hum free singlecoil! Cheers!
Do the new Fender Yngwie starts have the Seymour Duncan pickups or do the still have the Dimarzios because Fender webpage says they have the SD's but haven't yet seen any with the SD's.
hello i got a question could you guys do a review on the randall kh-120 because i'm considering buying it but i can't find a good review on it and i really need to know what it's capable of before i buy it and i really like your guys reviews you explain everything very well you would really help me doing a review on the randall kh-120 thanks
I'm new to making demo videos. What software is cheap and easy to use to make demos like this? I see the cabinet is mic'd, are their voices just picked up by the camera mic or are they mic'd as well? I need software for syncing mic recorded amp to video. Any help would be great. Keep in mind: I am newb.
That makes perfect sense. I think he bought an extra 50g of Marshall Tone and applied that to his hands. Chappers must probably be using cheap off-brand tone.
Such a GORGEOUS and VERSATILE amp! I like how you stressed the fact that just because it says "YJM" on it, doesn't mean this thing is a one-trick pony. Indeed, this is a souped up '59 Marshall, and a MUST for just about any rock guitarist!!!
that YJM head is probaly one of the best sounding marshalls out now.
This is the demo that sold me on this amp. Most others crank it to sound like a chain saw, but this is very musical.
That Les Paul is just incredible. Love that tone, and superb playing as always, Chappers! Loving these videos. Some of the best tone out there! :-)
YES! Every time I heard you play a G chord since you released At arms reach I've been thinking that you were gonna play Three Wishes and you finally did! You never fail to disappoint Chappers!
I bought this fantastic amp and a 1960AX cab. Plugged in my Angus Young signature SG and now I need new windows!!! :)
Oh, the sound with the Les Paul is soo goood. Really a sound of one generation of music.
WOW,the best Marshall, LP review on youtube very very very nice.Soz and the chappie geetar rocks
Sounds so amazing
Certainly the BEST job EVER.
You guys do the very best reviews. You should get your own show on BBC. Cheers.
could listen to stuff like this for hours
I love the way the body is carved, not to mention the hot Humbuckers. Very solid resonating tone with this setup. I like the whole Guthrie Govan Les Paul vibe the ML2 gives off, if that makes sense.
I love the way Lee moves back slightly when ever you start playing fast, like something is going to fly off and hit him in the face.
this is probly yur best review of an an amp guys...keep it up.
Some great tones right there! Although, I believe the 1960AV cabinet has Vintage 30 speakers and not Greenbacks.
Why don't Marshall make these as a main stay in their lineup with out the yjm name they would sell like hot cakes! Everyone would love to own a plexi with these features as it makes them much more usable for most folks!
Peter Cross fantastic idea. I really don't know why Marshall don't make them. They would sell like crazy.
Nice! I love it when you can hear the wood!
Lee's awesome! You're awesome! This Channel is awesome! :D
I love to see Lee's instant reactions :D
Lee ROCKS! Very smooth blues player too!
Chappers is a great player, he's a technical player, but Lee has an amazing tone. I'm loving the reviews where he plays.
With the right guitar and style, it's easy to get classic rock sounds from the yjm even at low volumes. One of my favorite tones is early Santana, and I get that sound with a Les Paul at bedroom levels through a 2x12 cab with V30s.
Damn strat + marshall is the best blues-rock combination ever!
this is one sweet amp
when you hit the boost at 10:19 i literally wispered "fuck yeah" to myself
Hey Guys - I don't know who sumopub is or what his beef is about me (I don't care either!!), but thanks for sticking up for me & all the positive comments.

these reviews are a lot more informative than the phil x ones
loved the limp bizkit rolling part. The pickups on that strat are Awesome! What they called? I need a set on one of my strats. Great vid as always! :)
@7Kirtash7 Yes mate, good spot!! Thank for listening to my stuff ;-)
Hey guys probably my favourite demo video to date. What is the Fender u're using? Looks to me like the american special? Certainly sounds awesome.
On the pickups, you said they're fairly underpowered. Yngwie said once that his pickups arent high output and are actually very low output because he wanted the preamp overdrive he uses to do most of the work.
That Les Paul with YJM is so eargasmic o.o
@iBrows1 You're right - did I say Greenbacks - d'oh!! I meant V30's. Cheers, Lee
That Les Paul sounded awesome

10:05
Steve C It's a major 7 chord.
Thingsandstuff Thanks for that info. Now I know! :)
+Steve C ..to be exact, he is playing an Ebmaj7 chord..although visually it looks like just Emaj7, bec my guess is that the guitar is tuned down 1/2 step.. the reason you don't hear that chord most of the time is that maj7th chords are played in jazz and sometimes pop and folk/acoustic type music, whereas Rob is a shredder, they usually play major triads leaving out the 7th, which gives it that pretty/full sound. if you like those sounds , buy George Benson lps, like
"Breezin"
@RobChappers Youre more than welcome! but i must say my favourite tune is "Brothers" from Red Dream
Great playing technique.
@RobChappers have you ever tried Kloppmann pick ups? they sound amazing
As soon as you put the ML2 in at the end there the pickups and the tone was just wall of win in comparison to the classic sounding LP and the bratty stratty.
Awesome Vid guys as usual at 10:21- 10:34 did I hear Chappers playing Brian May's legendary Tie your Mother Down Riff?
Marshall plexi with a strat or lespaul =best rock crunch sound ever made on the planet so far !!!!!

capt lee seems like such a nice guy
Rob. That was epic.
That was all I had to say.
I love Lee!
Marshall+Les Paul=EPIC
Totally agree a smaller version please!
chris pollard JMP1h is as close as you'll get, and even that doesn't sound as good. The YJM is quiet enough for home use (I've got one)
I own that except Les Paul 58 re-issue. It sounds great through a variety amps.....especially my Rivera 2x12.
So is the noise gate similar to the Boss NS2? I think the NS2 reacts very well to guitar volume changes, but is the amp the same way? Thanks for the demo Chappers and Anderton's!
Just a thought Chappers, could you get Ben Wilshire to do the demo for the Malmsteen guitar/amps? I'm sure he'll love it.
that les paul is my favorite guitar of all time
Hhahahahha! I love Lee's face when you start playing the les paul!
@sumopub lol...you sir...fail :P Lee and Rob are both made of win :'D Another great video (:
Chappers!!!! hi!!! what's the tone with power scaling all down???? Quite enough to play in bedroom???? good work!!!
some nice plexi sounds in this wonder box
@RobChappers your a rock god dude :D do you like Van Halen by any chance?? Im building a FrankenStrat at the moment, nearly finished haha Going to be buying a Marshall MG15FXMS from Andertons soon aswell. Thanks for the amazing vids, keep them coming! :)
@RobChappers Lee owns Andertons? I was unaware of that lol he's awesome anyways
you have to remember that yngwie does not have just one 4x12 he has an entire wall of them
Thanks for the info man.
He takes like 30 heads and 25 cabs on tour hahahaha, legend
I think so, the the power attenuator thing makes it possible to get it down to 0,1 Watts so... ( I own one, and I have already used it in club environment sized places)
@AndertonsMusic WE LOVE YOU LEEEEEEEE!!!!
I love the song at the very end of the video? chappers what tunings it in?...I must hurry off and learn it
What are the front knobs set at? I love the clean tones your getting.
@thebibleisalltrue Thanks mate I really appreciate that ;-)
@TnTMusic64 They're stock chinese pickups, they cost about $1 for a set!
i have to say i prefer the AFD100 more, could you guys post another video please?
That amp sounds sweet if you keep the boost backed off.
Gonna have to look into those Chipmunk guitars. Pretty sweet.
Is it hard to play with a scalloped fretboard? You guys are a riot. LOL Great videos.
the les paul just killed everyone in that room instantly
@MrLaserprint they only make scalloped Yngwie strats.
"bedroom < loud bedroom < rehearsal < gig < malmsteen" lol
That guitar...my god.
Chappers mate, you were born to play Les Pauls.
Cheers!
Rob, was that "three wishes"?, the first thing you played with the les pauls?
Oh I love me some Rob Chappers and Cap'n Bluesy Lee
Do the new Fender Yngwie starts have the Seymour Duncan pickups or do the still have the Dimarzios because Fender webpage says they have the SD's but haven't yet seen any with the SD's.
@hawg427 It takes a while to get used to in my opinion, if you press down to hard the note goes out of tune!
Holy crap, I think I need to go find this amp
Shall we try a regular Les Paul? Okay this is a 58 RI Les Paul (costs about double the standard)
i think u and lee should have a blindfolded shred off
(but lees shop owning win power burns holes in blind fold)
@UKRCyanide Holy shit really??? I hadn't realised!! ;-)
Thanks for reminding me why I'm a Les Paul guy... Not that anything else sounded bad, they're just my thing. Haha.
Great video! Could use more headroom. Headphone struggle with volume. We can turn up the volume ourseelf.
hello i got a question could you guys do a review on the randall kh-120 because i'm considering buying it but i can't find a good review on it and i really need to know what it's capable of before i buy it and i really like your guys reviews you explain everything very well you would really help me doing a review on the randall kh-120 thanks
Rob, the Captain & their Andertons' videos... What else? ;o)
Love the lick at 13:43 :)
Rob can you teach us that riff from 5:20 to 5:27?
Goes good with les paul👍🤘
Chappers, how comfortable would you say it is to play a scalloped fretboard?
Strats, Les Pauls, all that kind of thing!
That makes perfect sense. I think he bought an extra 50g of Marshall Tone and applied that to his hands. Chappers must probably be using cheap off-brand tone.
Mr. Chapman I gotta say I love your guitars but....that Gibson is soundin really awesome man haha. that's what some extra cash can get ya. ;)
