- bit.ly/Subscrib... Review of the Marshall signature Yngwie Malmsteen 100W Head. Jamie Humphries reviews and demonstrates this signature Marshall amp. This amp is based on a Marshall 1959 marshall, theres no fancy
graphics but a very subtle YJM logo alongside the tone & volume controls - Jamie Humphries talks and demos through all the
features of the amp.
This review features in Guitar Interactive Magazine Issue 6. Check out more by heading to bit.ly/iGuitarM...

This is the best sounding amp I have ever owned.Ive been playing since the late 70s and this amp captures the sound I have always had in my head.Forget these useless YT vids to try and get a ear for it.The sizzle, chuga chuga ,texture just cannot be captured via vids.Thats true for any sound but this amp is really special. Its acts a 2 channel.I can get the most bluesy, brown EVH tone, hit the OD and into crushing hard rock.Hit the effects with some delay,reverb...70s,80s tone heaven!
After watching this video and seeing the controls on back of the amp, it makes me wish Marshall would have made a high level amp with all of these features, then simply customize the sound for those that want a modern or a classic tone. Thanks for sharing your experience! Trying to find one now for under $4K is not easy!
Playing starts at 7:30...
lol
Absolutely best amp interview I have heard, thank you! Too bad Marshall did not develop and sell a higher end amp line with all the features present on this amp! I think Marshall could have really taken amp design and quality to a level we cannot even imagine, thanks again!
Nice review & to the point. I've just bought one of these beauty's and can't wait to crank it up. Jamie is a class act & seems like a nice guy. Thanks
Nice amp and sound has that classic marshall look
Awesome amplifier! I'm a proud owner of a YJM amp. Nice review and as always great playing Jamie :)
Excellent review! I am definitely considering buying this Yngwie head in the very near future.
Haven't seen this guy since Rockworld! Really helped me out back then!
he does, albeit with a different pedalboard. He is an avid user of delay and reverb in particular, especially with his slower bits. There is a video on YT where he is demonstrating his footswitches, for Young Guitar Magazine I think
Such a good amp so why did they discontinued it?
Best new Marshall amp today. By far.
The reverb on this amp is excellent. Period. End of story. Finito.
Hi, this is Jimi Hendrix and welcome to another review...
Great review! I definitely would love this amp.
I'd love one, and I don't care for Yngwie's playing - He clearly put his heart into developing this.
the way this guy talk just like Yngwie
upcoming Luca Zamberlin CD... MAD FOR IT, featuring Atma Anur (here playing all live percussion), Shaun Baxter and many other special guests. These songs are the 'mellow' side of this new work, which also includes many hard rocking instrumental guitar driven compositions... release is December 2012..
3:29 and THAT is what advertising budget buys you. Everyone else says they feel flimsy and not well made.
No thats because the cab is in another room completely, that is the camera mic you are hearing, if it was full or no volume that would still be there, because it is blended with cab and cam mic,
Has anyone got this amp for sale? I am looking for one
It must have ALL the paperwork and the original box (in GREAT condition).
I see your argument there, and I agree that analogue amps/effects/interfaces will always seem more authentic. No matter, digital processors nowadays are unreal, just look at why touring guys use the Axe-Fx to replace entire rigs, ESPECIALLY used to replace pedals and other effects. The YJM is no exception there. Digital or not, it SOUNDS tremendous, SOUNDS exactly like the real thing, and responds to any nuances or volume control you throw at it - and that's all that matters doesn't it?
Sounds really nice!
It's an amp presentation, not trying to get Malmsteen sound. Most of guitarists are using humbuckers with such amps. Its just presentation of the amp tone, not clone of YM tone. Another issue that YM strat is quite different than typical strat, so if you realy wanna get YM sound, SSS wouldnt be enough. Sorry about my english.
I really like that kind of tones but to me it was too expensive for what it is. I'd prefer to pay a few more for a Splawn that sounds as good as it and which is more reliable than Marshall's. Splawn's have a true clean chanel too. Just my opinion.
It's no surprise this amp sounds awesome, Knowing what Yngwie is like concerning his sound and classic qualities he would insist this amp sounded exactly right or not go ahead with any of it.
Because it was a limited run of 1500 worldwide.
(you should press the reply button)
anyway I think you're right, but that's because Chappers is employed by andertons to sell whatever they have in their shop , so he's never going to spit on a gutiar even if it's garbage cause his boss is selling it on his website
“It’s a sound mans nightmare to be too loud”
Ok but it’s a guitar players nightmare to NOT be “too loud”😤
Not trying to sound snide or anything, but Marshalls are known for their reliability and ruggedness. Had some Marshalls break on you or something?
don't know why he's holding back this guy can really shred
4x EL34 not 3 Mr humphries?
I enjoy watching his videos. But the content of his reviews is lacking quite a bit
Great review but I think he should show more Yngiwe's licks. Afterall, Yngwie's fans will be interested in this amp to sound like Yngwie.
Oh? Do you own the YJM head yourself? Well, I do and the reverb sounds as good as anything out there. No disrespect brother, but if you don't own it yourself please do not make false judgements like that.
The increasing affordability of lightweight, portable PA systems is just going to further crush these 100W monsters into non-existence. In ten yrs, I would be surprised to find anyone making a power amp in excess of 25 Watts. It's just too much volume for 99% of the market, hence the power scaling equipped in this model. The builders know where the amp market is going. Modern applications only require a low volume, while players still want to drive the tubes hard for obvious reasons.
Yngwie doesn't use the FX on the back :-/
Some guitar playing at 7:33
Fuck"..This amp sounds Bad ass!..Fuck Yeah!..That nasty snarl we all love!
...And also, you're presenting an Yngwie's amp with an Ernie Ball???????
So you want to present the Yngwie's sound to viewrs and you do it with full size humbuckers (and rosewood fretboard)... At least you could use another guitar as well but with SSS pu setup.
His reviews. I like chappers.
Well if you're shifting this conversation to value, then I'm afraid you're pretty lost. Of course the price would be jacked up, being a versatile sig head, and is made with specific music in mind. By the way, the reverb on this thing is just an option to have. Yngwie himself doesn't use it. Honestly, it's all in your head. Who would be able to tell the difference in a live situation? It's all about the final product - the SOUND that you get. And this is pretty darned good, digital reverb or not.
Sounds awesome! I need a better job LOL!!
"non high quality"
lol that would low quality then ;)
3 EL34"s?..
It has 4 EL34 not 3.....
This must be the only 100 w Marshall with 3 el34's....get yr facts straight !
It has 4 el34s!
Lol guys, just to clarify. I do like chappers, just not so much his reviews. I think it's probably because I don't have the same sense of humour as him so its a bit off putting when watchin them. Great tracks though. Love ya really chappers :p
SAY THE DAMN THING!
no yjm lix on the new yjm amp sup with dat?
go 08.06
he's got the output of the amp so low, you can hear he's pick hitting the strings.
Sorry dude, but Andy James should review this one.
Well...why?
PLAY THE DAMN THING
Swedish Powa!
YMJ? Who's that then.
+outofthisswirled young michael jackson. obviously.
too much talking
YMJ (YJM)
i watched this whole video waiting on him rocking some highgain lead , and nothing ... fail
So?
why the fuck are they building a digital reverb in an amp that costs more than 1000 $ ? for that price i guess you could at least get a real reverb !
No actual clean channel?!? I'll stick to my JSX.
This amp was taken of the shelves because of all its problems!
wow you talk too much man...just play and explain only what's necessary
are you crazyyyyy
Come on, start playing something!!
Don't hassle the Humph.
13 minutes of talking and 3 minutes of “sort of” playing. Lovely 😅😅😅
Sorry dude ,but Rob Chappers should review this one.
Chappers sucks at reviews man. Especially compared to Jamie. I like chappers but not his reviews
Why the fuck do you review a Malmsteen amp with humbuckers? lol
haha. seeing my comment from 4 years ago. wish i could find one of these amps
So let me get this straight, it’s a 100 watt head called the YMJ with 3 output valves and the footswitch comes with labels straight from the factory? My god, if you’re gonna review something....!
Dont like this amp
sounds like yngwie talking
Dude stop talking, start playing this amp!
Less talk, more playing ,dude, that was annoying. Shoulda played a strat too.
You took a good amp and made it sound shitty.
Over priced I would rather have a jvm410h
worst demo ever of the yjm, thank you !
