Also, the reason they used these versions of Trunks and Silver is because if they had used the main versions, it would've been an obvious stomp in Trunks' favor. Dragon Ball Heroes Trunks and Archie Comic Silver are their most powerful versions and, comparatively speaking, closer in power. I'd love to see you react to the live-action battles, Nightwing Vs. I think they mentioned in a commentary that canon Silver is kind of a nothing-burger of a character, whereas the Archie Comics version really fleshed him out more, and gave a lot more interesting things to analyze. To add more recent information about the Death Battle Kickstarter, in a recent live stream of Cast debating and in the comments of the Kickstarter, they mention that they're hoping to release new episodes starting in October of this year. The plan is to release two episodes during October and 1 new episode every month onwards. Also, since you mentioned it, for the moment, they plan to drop the seasonal format and release 1 new Death Battle Episode every month (Maybe with the exception of January due to Holidays and such). So basically, entering a new era of Death Battle where it's year-round, and as of this moment, closing in on 700K, WE ARE SO BACK!!!
Always remember that they set up the match ups FIRST, THEN determine the winner through researching both characters. Sometimes even THEY don't now how much of a stomp it's going to be until the video is completed, like with SpongeBob vs Aquaman. They didn't know how strong SpongeBob was until it was too late and they were too far along that they had to create the episode.
I know there was one early on where they did change the matchup because their research showed a character to be far, FAR more powerful than they had initially believed. Kirby was originally slated to fight Ditto from Pokémon but they realized that Kirby is just too goddamn powerful for it. I say this as a Pokémon fan but I'm pretty sure Kirby could body like 99% of the roster. If the Creation Trio teamed up on him they might stand a chance but individually they'd get washed. Though it's funny that the pokémon that's most LIKE a Kirby boss is fairly low power, overall. Pecharunt would fit right in in Dreamland.

They said on their Death Battle cast that they thought Ben would beat Hal, Black Adam would beat Apocalypse, and Lobo would beat Ghost Rider, Archie Sonic would beat Wally and that's only a few I could name. They also felt Miles Morales, Genos, Grey Venom might be the likely loser, but they still thought they had a good chance until they dug deeper in their opponents. Again, just to name a few. There's definitely been instances where they have a solid general idea of who would win, but they don't know exactly how much a stomp it will be or that the verdict will go the other way until the episodes are done. The only ones I can really think they knew was going to be a stomp right off the top of my head was Omniman vs Homelander. And yeah, they do pick match ups that fans demand more and might get the most views, but that doesn't always guarantee they know it's an automatic stomp.

1. The Xenoverse timeline REALLY makes you realise why Beerus and Whis were so against time travel. Nobody wants to get stuck holding the metaphorical ball by creating the timeline that causes Armageddon lol 2. The matchups are made based on similarities between characters. One neat thing about this Death Battle is that there a not-so-subtle Dragon Ball GT reference. When Trunks uses cards to summon people, he gets GT Kid Goku, GT Pan, (and also Oolong randomly) Goku, Pan, and Trunks are the 3 main characters of GT's first arc, so even though that was a different Trunks, it was still a cool easter egg

Well, it's not entirely unfair. People wanted this matchup forever and if they used regular Trunks against game Silver. Trunks absolutely stomped Silver. So the fairest way to do this battle was to put them at their strongest versions. And it just so happens that Archie's Silver is stronger than Heroes Trunks.

Knowing how big of a fan Bethany is of the Ninja Turtles, I’d recommend the TMNT Battle Royale. It’s from Season 1, but it’s one of the first Death Battles I ever watched. The original video was removed from TH-cam, but they’re reuploads on TH-cam. Also Bowser vs Ganon and Eggman vs Wily because Bowser and Eggman are returning for the upcoming season. But I imagine you’ll react to all of them eventually.
i know it wouldnt change the outcome but it always pissed me off that trunks knows silver and redirect his Ki and still decides to infuse ki into the key sword.
It's because a lot of fans seem to think that Dragon Ball just destroys the Sonic universe, not realizing that sonic characters are pretty busted. Even in the games things get pretty crazy, like how Sonic Shadow and Silver fought a time god that existed between all infinite points in the past present and future. The other reason being that the creators of Sonic 06 themselves stated that Silvers backstory when he was first created, was very much inspired by Trunks' story (which fun fact was actually inspired by Terminator). So that's why The characters were put against each other.
This was a good reaction also they went with Xeno Trunks and Archie Silver because of a huge backlash from Vegeta vs Shadow being too Onesided on Vegeta so MU Trunks and Games Silver would’ve been the same so they went with these Version who are nearly the Same Power levels and next do a reaction to either Android 18 vs Captain Marvel or Donkey Kong vs knuckles.
I think a lot of the time, unless folk are really familiar with characters, they're not going to realise how one sided a match up is until they start doing the research. There's likely thousands of characters out there who on the surface have a lot of similarities to each other (case and point Trunks and Silver: both time travellers, both have super forms, one has chi the other telekinesis) but once you get into the nitty gritty of things you realise that the scale of things on one side far outweighs the other. Honestly its probably harder to find two characters that are similar to each other in concept and power scaling outside of typical action heroes. But I will say my favourite part of Death Battle isn't always the fight but finding out about all the wee facts regarding the characters, especially if its a character I thought I know a lot about. Its actually led me to the realisation that while anime and manga has a reputation for being ridiculously over the top the majority of series are actually a lot more down to earth than western comics like DC and Marvel.
They mentioned the Sonic X Mega Man crossover comic?? I read that when I was super little, since i loved Sonic and Mega Man---The comic was so good. Knew Silver was going to win (and I'm not saying this as a 17 year old lifelong Sonic glazer---Archie Silver {and Archie ANY Sonic character} is INFINITELY more powerful than any of their other counterparts.) Listen, I grew up with DB and DBZ, but Trunks was definitely not going to win.

I want you to know that prior to this episode's release, the common thought was that Trunks destroyed Silver. In the episode itself, they even try to soften the blow of Silver's win by saying Trunks was cooler and could have won in certain circumstances. I believe the research team even said this episode was actually very close. I just wanna push back on the idea that this outcome was obvious. It very much was not.
They still managed to downplay silver tho as they didn't mention any of his energy blasts or the fact he can teleport or his shield od light or anything
The thing abt DB is that they can be very BIAS in there match-ups for Trunks case a lot of people were asking for Trunks vs Cable whom both had way more similarities but instead did this match-up just to make Trunks lose

This is why I don't like DragonBall Super. They just try way too hard to be like DC here, and ever since Marvel started the multiverse and timeline to their stories. Archie versions of Sonic Characters are seriously overpowered. It would literally took Sonic less than a second to finish level in a video game.

To be fair, a lot of match ups are picked out by the fans. Where at face value it seems more even until their research team digs into it.

Knew Silver was going to win (and I'm not saying this as a 17 year old lifelong Sonic glazer---Archie Silver {and Archie ANY Sonic character} is INFINITELY more powerful than any of their other counterparts.) Listen, I grew up with DB and DBZ, but Trunks was definitely not going to win.

I want you to know that prior to this episode's release, the common thought was that Trunks destroyed Silver. In the episode itself, they even try to soften the blow of Silver's win by saying Trunks was cooler and could have won in certain circumstances. I believe the research team even said this episode was actually very close. I just wanna push back on the idea that this outcome was obvious. It very much was not.

The thing abt DB is that they can be very BIAS in there match-ups for Trunks case a lot of people were asking for Trunks vs Cable whom both had way more similarities but instead did this match-up just to make Trunks lose

Bro at this point game sonic characters are just as strong as there archie counterparts. I mean they are so strong now that them in base could defeat bosses that it took super forms or even multiple super forms to beat
An example of this is Sonic in base form defeating Perfect Chaos.
It's the same story, anime characters seem to be slightly weaker than cartoon characters
This is why I don't like DragonBall Super. They just try way too hard to be like DC here, and ever since Marvel started the multiverse and timeline to their stories. Everyone is copying what Marvel is doing, because in my opinion it's one of the most laziest and unoriginal stories to add. Especially for DragonBall.
