As a beginner I’m looking to upgrade my old Gary fisher to a 500& mountain bike. Trying to stay away from big box brands. Love the Fuji navada and this one. Appreciate any feed back. Great video helped out a lot.
To be honest it is one of the best beginner bikes I have been on! You can’t beat the new specialized pitch sport it comes with hydraulic brakes huge upgrade so yes I would pick this bike over the Fuji Nevada any day! If you can find one of these bikes with mechanical brakes save the money and get that and less you were going to do hard-core riding you won’t regret it.

Just got my bike today and did a quick 40 minute ride through some light trails in the city. Overall a good bike that can do dual duty on the road and off. Good stability at speed and good maneuvering capabilities. Very good construction of the frame and bike in general. Super solid ride and feel. My brakes were hydraulic and I thought they stop well and did not feel too grabby which I was worried about. I’ll see how it holds up long term.

Great review man. I am thinking about getting a bike (Color is so nice). My LBS has a the same exact bike as you and they want $535 plus tax in NY looking at close to $580. I am 5'10 32inch inseam but not sure if I should get the M or L. In, addition is it worth to get the regular 2020 pitch for $565 which comes with the hydraulic breaks and I think a better gear shifter. Thoughts?
It is worth the upgrade and you would probably be ok on a large but you might want to get a shorter seat
@@americantech1180 ok cool. I know 2020's are so hard to find. I know a few LBS only have Mediums. So if I am reading correctly go with a Large 2020 Pitch rather than the 2019 Pitch Sport? Appreciate the quick response...

My friend rides a 2019 specialized pitch sport with hydraulic brakes he doesn’t have any problems with it on the trails but we do not hit any advance trails we only hit beginner in Moderat trails so if that’s what you’re looking for the pitch would be perfect for you if you were looking to do anything more I would go with the 2020 pitch sport Or higher. Hope that helps

Paul Also check specialized.com before you buy from a dealer because it could be cheaper on there and nine times out of 10 they will match the price. I got my 2019 for $394 because it was on a special deal. Good luck let me know what you end up getting
Looks like Specialized has discontinued it in favor of lower priced Rockhopper models. You might be able to find a great deal on one now.
Just purchased a 2020 Pitch Sport today and was told the same thing by my LBS. I believe for 2021 Specialized is replacing the Pitch with a Rockhopper line w/ 27.5 wheels.
Tom Herron I traded my 29er rockhopper for my 2018 pitch. I am glad I made the swap.
MTB Fitness Nation Im actually thinking about going the opposite direction. Why do you prefer the pitch over the rockhopper?
David Arteaga I think it has more to do with geometry and the 27.5” wheels. I ride a pitch and I prefer it over the 2016 rockhopper frame because I am 5’7” and planting my feet on a rockhopper would get me to rack my nuts. Not so on the pitch. Gotta save those nuts. Also the pitch feels more like a real XC style bike. Edit: the Pitch is just being named Rockhopper now. So they just got rid of the rockhopper frame.
I am thinking about getting one. Would you recommend this bike. I have some experience however not the best and looking for an upgrade. Thanks anything back would be great
Allan Speirs So I’ve been riding this bike for three weeks now and hit two advance trails and have not had a problem in the price range I would say is one of the best built bikes that you can get! In saying that the regular pitch and not the pitch sport will drop a chain on you every time if you try to hit anything more than a beginner trail. Hope that helps I would definitely go with the sport or higher

Allan Speirs so the pitch sport derailleur is 100 times better than the original pitch. I have dropped the chain once but it was over a pretty high jump. But I was in the middle of shifting and I haven’t had it Drop since then. But yes definitely get the pitch sport and the mechanical brakes are pretty good also I only noticed a little difference between the mechanical brakes and hydraulic brakes between the Pitch models
American Tech yeah I was going to get the sport and I was hoping it had hydraulic breaks. I am not sure if the sport dose but that’s what I want as of the trails I ride. Do u know if the sport has hydraulic breaks?
I do believe you can get it with hydraulic brakes I think it adds 100 and something to Cost of the bike.
I bought a 2020 pitch sport yesterday brand new, and mine has hydraulic brakes and a 2 gear front.. any idea how I scored them on the same bike? 😅
Very nice! Yeah mine is a true entry level bike with the cheapest components on it. Lol I wanted to make a video on the budget bike so more people would be able to afford it. But you got a nice bike brother! Enjoy the ride and I hope it brings you the enjoyment that mine has given me!
Believe yourrs isn't the Sport, because the sport has hydraulic brakes and 2x ... just thought i'd throw my 2cents in
As far at the serial number on the bike it comes back as a specialized pitch sport. There could’ve been a mixup at the factory I guess. Let me do some more research. Thanks for the response And heads up

Khabib Hombre I know I got it on sale for $456 and couldn’t pass it up. That is why it is a 2019 instead of a 2020 but any pitch sport model is worth buying I think. Lol
@@americantech1180 For that price, the 2019 model is worth buying. However, I think the 2020 model is not worth it. The Pitch Expert 1x is so much better because you don't need to upgrade much. With the Pitch Sport, you have to upgrade the fork, brakes and drivetrain once you start riding more aggressively.
I've been looking for an entry level mtb for myself and found the 2019 Pitch Sport (all black) online for a good price. I'm 173 cm tall, and the description for the bike states that it has a medium size frame and 27,5" wheels, but it also states that it's a bike designed for kids... is that true? I mean, shouldn't the bike be right for my size with those specs?
