47:30 actually Aaty recommends nuking south pillar for a different reason (albeit what you said is definitely part of the logic). The south west spawns slide along the south pillar, changing their line of sight. If you remove the south pillar, the south west spawns path slightly differently, which changes what can see you when you're above the north pillar. He explains this around 53:30 in his very first First Cape Friday video.

@gnomonkey I have everything except the TBow.. what would you recommend doing in that case? Appreciate any response my brother! Thank you for taking the time to make such an in depth guide for us!!
Bofa is still very good. Tbow just speeds it up a bit. Just run Crystal armor instead of masori. And it has the added benefit of being 4 tick instead of tbow’s 5 tick. Which is nice because it lines up with mage/range/melees attack speed so you can easily lazy flick with offensive prayers/quick prayers. If you can complete inferno with a tbow you can complete it with a bofa and vise versa
Great guide, you did end up talking about different setups and equipments and some options that are simply not worth the money but my problem is that unfortunately I don't yet own a Tbow which is by far the most expensive item on this setup.... what would be a good inventory/setup to do inferno without Tbow? I just don't know if it's even worth it to try with crystal armor + bowfa or if it's better to just wait until I can buy/drop a Tbow? Thank you for the guide anyway
@@GnomonkeyRS Ok, great, thanks! Since I will be taking crystal armor with me and the whole low magic defense you talked on the video, is it even worth it to waste inventory space with mage armor switches (virtus or ancestral)? Mb i could bring a falador shield for full prayer restore instead?
You don't need to bring fally shield or overcomplicate your mage set ups. That's not how defense works in OSRS compared to other MMOs. What I showed in the video is all you need.
Thanks for the guide! Great stuff! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume if you have bowfa and not tbow you're always just bringing full crystal armour and not masori?

Aatykon specifically says let south die after 49 b.c it helps southeast spawns slide in beside west if you go to north corner trap. Definitely a useful idea to avoid pillar stacks more often.
@GnomonkeyRS another reason is you dont get dragged when you barrage. I agree tho that if you have a way to protect it then go for it as a shield for your north pillar.
dumb question, but to switch targets while 1 tick flicking multiple monsters, do you just have to click target really fast and back to prayer flick or is there an easier way to time it to not lose the rhythm? So lets say ranger/mager stacked, first click from middle of pillar out pray mage then flick ranged tick after, THEN do i attack or wait for another mage hit first or does it matter

Hard disagree on doing colosseum after inferno. In terms of cost, its very easy to make up death fees from uniques you get from the waves. Colosseum is a ton more approachable in terms of time commitment. Learners can get to sol in 30-40 minutes compared to the 2 hr+ in inferno. It teaches you prayer flicking in a very understandable way. And it is far more exciting to learn especially when you can get to waves 10-11 as you can get a 5-100m drop. Also, you can get lucky on waves and pretty much get a free shot at sol if you get a single or no south spawns on waves 10 and 11. Sure having an inferno cape will be nice for the sol fight, but in no way would it ever be a determining factor as to whether or not you will kill him. Inferno, it is all but guaranteed that you will have 5+ attempts, each 2 hours or more longer where you will be down millions in supplies with absolutely no positives other than hopefully getting some knowledge on what killed you and how to prevent it. This is a huge deterrent for many people that does not exist in colosseum.
totally agree as someone with neither. Im learning inferno now first due to in my opinion having better range gear than melee but I feel theres 0 chance of dopamine rush in inferno except the cape. Colosseum actually feels like progress, being rewarded with the choice to get some sort of loot (even if it is bad at lower waves) just feels nicer to me. For me dying at a wave before triple jads just feels like the same death scenario and kinda lame.
Big agree. I got 4 echo crystals in my 30 attempts at quiver, 20 of those deaths were with the 75% reduced death cost. I made money getting my quiver lmao. Killed sol my first attempt at him. Inferno cape only gives you +4 str bonus, which might not even be a max hit. And if you learn the mechanics of sol with a simulator, you can kill him bare-handed it's so easy. I'm now going into inferno after learning a ton about prayer flicking, npc movement mechanics, pillar management, patience, etc that I'm sure will make getting my cape wayyyyyy faster and cost me less in supplies. Quiver before inferno is the way.
@cokemachine62590 Inferno cape is always a Max hit, on every weapon. Not everyone has reduced costs, if you wave 1 farmed like a lot of people did to make money, that takes away the buffer to learning at reduced cost. I have 100kc+ in both, Inferno may be longer but it's better and less punishing to learn first.
So I use ancient sceptre as my mage switch for inferno, what’s your opinion on using either a blood quarts or an ice quartz and which one would be better? I’m thinking blood quarts myself for the extra health but I wanted your opinion.

They attack the shield. So you tag and kill Ranger asap, while shield tanks the Mager, and then you pray mage and tag mager and hold until 600 hp, then kill Mage, then Zuk
I can't find it, but somewhere in the vid he types in a command for sw true tile for all (at least in inferno) does someone know where the timestamp is at for this?
I recently did inferno and colosseum. Inferno sucks at teaching you mechanics (off ticking, prayer switching, etc). Colloseum is great at teaching. I think you should complete inferno first, but I think you should send colosseum runs for a day or two and learn off ticking and pillar solves. You can get to meaningful learning opportunities in ten minutes in colloseum. You have to reach wave 50 inferno for the same. That takes about an hour. Massive difference. Gl anyone just starting out. You can do it, especially when it feels like you can't. Take a break. Your brain will subconsciously process your experiences, and you'll be better the next time you play. Just pace yourself. Have another activity to switch to when you get frustrated.
Although not ideal... Bowfa first capes are actually pretty full proof as long as you don't lose too many ticks at Zuk.. Tbow doesn't really hit healers if you miss one but you can easily Bowfa from 9 tiles away and only lose one BP attack.. Bowfa also makes ranger in the set very free if you dump BP specs and then Bowfa till dead.. then tag mage.. Bowfa is also lovely for the waves themselves imho.. you can basically kill melees before they get to you (for first capes and not for speed.. I'd recommend getting rid of melees and bats asap and Bowfa handles both those roles very well.
Hey guys, im learning inferno with the best in slot gear. i.e Twisted Bow, Ely, Virtus, Masori etc.. with 99 Mage & Range. However im only 90 defence and 90 prayer. Is this good enough for a learner or would you suggest higher?
Been goin for it since July 2023. Stopped playing rs in Oct bc I got frustrated. Came back June 2024. 5 runs total, 55+ & my last 2 have been zuk I wanted to watch an old gnomemonkey inferno guide to refresh and came across these updates. Ill comeback to comment when I get my cape!
@@rssoulsplit7007 possibly. Tho I'm not gonna argue either way since I haven't ran the dps calcs. Either way being able to send 4-5 attempts per session at colo feels better to me than 0.5-1 attempts at inferno.
@@GnomonkeyRS true for scythe but I'm an ironmeme. Ran the dps calcs and its 0.03528 dps difference for my tent whip, bandos, serp setup with inferno vs fire cape while potted vs sol. Same max hit. If I had a scythe it would be a 3 max hit difference. So it's only a big deal if you have scythe
Why serp and not Nez even as Ironman? Colosseum has nothing that's going to venom you unless you take mayhem (which you absolutely shouldn't). Important for Soulreaper builds too which is only 10% worse than Scythe
yeah I said this in stream, colo might be mechanically harder but the short runs are appealing to more people, you can beat your head at colo, get good at it and have an easy time with inferno due to the engrained knowledge. Its less accessible in terms of gear though imo
as absurd as it sounds to go quiver first then inferno, i agree. Part of the difficulty with inferno is spending 50+mins just to get to wave 50 where it gets fun. Where as colo is throwing you into "wave 50" off the rip. It took me 6 weeks to get my cape, quiver is my next grind once i get more cash from Nex
@@Luis-od5on don't think its that absurd even though I did get my inf cape 6 years ago. Col is just way more approachable because of how short it is. you can hammer attempts super quickly while inferno is very long especially for first capers. I think having quiver for inferno is extremely nice also and arguably more useful than having infernal cape is for col (especially if they have torva )
This whole time I've been following a guide from a year ago lul. I've been doing inferno attempts for the last 2 weeks and I will say I had some issues with the nibblers. Quite a bid of bad rng with killing them but I only had one attempt fail to a pillar falling and it was because I hadn't figured out some other key mechanics for dealing with them at the time. I've been running virtus top with occult and kodai and I've made it to zuk every time. The only issue I've been having is with the bowfa being complete dogshit. I don't have access to echo boots but I've been running devout boots and it feels very good compared to anything else. I usually get to zuk with 4 restores if I dont fuck up too hard and lazy flick the entire way there. I didn't even know that echo boots existed and yesterday I got dbl max hit on second set by ranger and died. God bless you. I'm going to go buy them. my biggest issue on zuk is i always hit a second set before healers and i dont feel comfortable with risking extra hits sometimes. I try to get another hit in the middle if i can. I also really struggle with panic because I 've been trying to get my cape for 5 years. The closer I get the more my heart starts racing and I kind of freak out like omg is this it? but I think I self sabotage myself and give up by freaking out. I also struggle with killing the ranger and knowing when the second set is going to happen so I must be wasting a lot of time if you're only getting 1 set and I'm getting 2. However when I had a tbow several years ago, I felt like it was absurd and I was able to destroy zuk and I almost got my cape back then and this was without runelite, on the jagex original client because I didn't want to risk getting banned. Now everyone has the cape and none of them actually got it themselves. I almost feel like the cape is more of a sign of a noob than anything else. If I ever get it, I know it will actually mean something to me.
You can off tick the mage range sets I'd advise learning how to do that. It's not as hard as it seems and once you can do that, the *only* significant rng issue during zuk is healer lava spam
Oh, btw, I took about 3 years to get the cape for the same reason (nerves). Someone else mentioned the simulator. I second that suggestion. There's a 3d simulator that's very good. When I finally killed zuk I was very nervous. Hands shaking and everything. You can do it. Send those simulated runs. I believe in you.
"A lot of people die on that wave. It's one of the hardest waves." I've died three times on 31 so far and I just feel so discouraged after trying to learn flicks but if you're saying it's difficult then I don't feel so bad. Gotta keep trying for sure.
Thinking of going back to OSRS and returning to my zuk helm grind. The last wall I hit was melee inferno; would echo boots be beneficial over the +2 strength of prims on scythe? Any other changes (like ultor ring) since your last melee inferno teaching video/stream? I haven't kept up with changes since I got my quiver on colosseum release
@@GnomonkeyRS You said in this video the Colosseum is so much easier after Infero because you have +15% from cape. Now you say Tbow is "only" 15%. So which is it? Is 15% a lot or a little?
only thing you missed is that eldritch lets you overheal prayer too. this means you can just send the specs at anytime and still benefit, letting LB ring do more work over the run

ZCB/acb are bad in inferno. You want BofA or tbow
What is the pluggin to make npc turn red on death?
Tzhaar HP Tracker
Do the zuk safespots work for bowfa too? Or it is just tbow?
BofA as well
what would you bring for my gear, between virtus bottoms, or ancestral top? I get a max hit with the bottoms but more accuracy with the top
Ahrims
What’s the plugin that makes the chat boxes flash red when you have messages instead of the normal blue?
That's just my resource pack - Dark Mode
@@GnomonkeyRS ahh tysm
I can't find it, but somewhere in the vid he types in a command for sw true tile for all (at least in inferno) does someone know where the timestamp is at for this?
I actually figured it out. They are all "Jal-" so I tried "Jal-*" and it worked.
Is it too hard for a first cape without tbow?
Nope, bofa is perfectly fine
i'm curious, is crystal+bofa or masori+twisted better for first capers? mainly asking because of the added ranged defense from crystal
Tbow and Masori are BiS
T bow. Killing things > tanking hits
Higher the better but that is fine
can you do ironman lowest viable gear? please 🙌
Been goin for it since July 2023. Stopped playing rs in Oct bc I got frustrated.
Came back June 2024. 5 runs total, 55+ & my last 2 have been zuk
I wanted to watch an old gnomemonkey inferno guide to refresh and came across these updates.
Ill comeback to comment when I get my cape!
You got this!
@@GnomonkeyRS 🙏🏽
I just did Quiver with 250m gear so now I feel like I'm ready for Inferno xD
What about dt2 ancient scepters
No.
Nice video bud teaching skills on a whole nother level ! Aha
anyone know the plugin for those xp drops with the health and then how their hp turns red?
Tzhaar HP tracker
And customizable xp drops
I think zuk being a dps race is why im going to go for colo cape first on my iron. Got a shadow but no tbow.
plus quiver helps more with inferno than infernal helps with colo so it's better
@@rssoulsplit7007 possibly. Tho I'm not gonna argue either way since I haven't ran the dps calcs. Either way being able to send 4-5 attempts per session at colo feels better to me than 0.5-1 attempts at inferno.
Not true. Scythe with inferno cape is more powerful.
I just relized you have a bowfa teaching run. Would you say the gear/setup in that are still relevant post mage rebalance?
Yup! BofA is still plenty good
@@GnomonkeyRS thank you
No inferno quiver haver here. I think as time goes on more ppl will get their quiver before their cape.
yeah I said this in stream, colo might be mechanically harder but the short runs are appealing to more people, you can beat your head at colo, get good at it and have an easy time with inferno due to the engrained knowledge.
Funny I got quiver but still haven’t tried inferno. 15 completions most in void with 80 defense, yet inferno feels daunting.
54:26 The voices I hear when I see pure range leeches at Nex.
No one’s reading your autobiography bro
@@Zeabox i did, its not that crazy long
theres a zuk sim online that is basically a 1:1 to the fight, try it
You can off tick the mage range sets
I'd advise learning how to do that.
It's one of the hardest waves."
I've died three times on 31 so far and I just feel so discouraged after trying to learn flicks but if you're saying it's difficult then I don't feel so bad. Gotta keep trying for sure.
It is! Be patient and kind to yourself. Don't give up. It's okay to regress and come back stronger. We have good and bad days
Imagine wearing clown boots in a teaching stream. Are you mocking the people that come to you for advice?
its not the serious man take a chill pill its a fkn game
@@brandonreal916 No, it really is that serious. Gnomonkey is spitting in the collective faces of all those who seek his guidance.
Im getting to he point where I have nothing else left to do but get this cape, but it’s sooo INTIMIDATING 😂😂
Your so freaking epic bro
loved hearing the hollow knight music!
I think so.
Bro's about to hit 200m HP, probably has already!
7:34 I think harm removes the ability to autocast ancients. So, it's a downgrade in inferno unless you are trying some standard book strats?
inferno with twisted bow is so different than without it..
cope + cap get a grip Brett
They are only 15% different.
Honestly, you shouldn't need LB for casual runs.. Suffering is what helps you not have to flick ranger sets during Zuk..
Suffering is trolling.
Personally, I think mage rebalance is a great update.
Don’t chase children into the street, got it
Why do you say to never auto cast over manual cast?
he didnt say that... learn to listen
is eldinis ward (f) any good
Marginally? Probably won't make or break a run, at all.
