I can confirm that as of June 2023, this method still works. Have been trying several other methods but to no avail, this was the only method that worked best for the MacBook Pro 2012 (With the DVD Drive). Installed Windows 11 using bootable USB created via Rufus Utility. Dual-booted the machine with Mac OS Ventura (OCLP) and Windows 11. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR WINDOWS 11 ON MACBOOK PRO 2012: 1. In Mac OS, identify which drive (SSD/HDD) you want to partition. 2. Open Disk Utility, Select "Partition" -> Click the "+" icon -> Select "Add Partition". 3. In the partition window, input desired "Name" -> Specify "Format" to "MS-DOS" -> Specify "Size" of your partition -> Click "Apply" and wait until done. 4. Now that partitioning is done, we can now proceed on creating a bootable thumbdrive using a windows machine (can also be virtualized/emulated if you dont have access to one). 5. Download the Windows 11 ".ISO" file in Microsoft's website. Also, download "RUFUS" utility that will create the bootable thumbdrive for us with the patched TPM/RAM/SecureBoot Bypass. 6. Once both files are downloaded, open and install "RUFUS". After installation, open it. 7. Open "RUFUS" -> Select "Drive" corresponding to the thumbdrive -> Locate the "ISO Image" that you've downloaded -> Set "Filesystem" to "GPT". 8. After configuring "RUFUS" -> Hit "START" -> Once clicked, a pop-up window will open -> Select the "Remove Requirement for SecureBoot and TPM" -> Hit "Next". Creation process will now start. 9. The creation of the Bootable Thumbdrive will take a few minutes so be sure to check on it from time to time to make sure there are no errors. 10. Now, once "RUFUS" is finished creating the bootable drive -> Eject the thumbdrive from the Windows PC -> Plug it into the MacBook Pro. 11. Restart the MacBook while holding the "ALT/OPTION" key. Once you are in the boot selector menu -> Select the "EFI Boot" with the Yellow USB Icon on the far right. 12. Once you are greeted with the "Windows Setup" -> Select your "Language" -> Click on "I dont have a Product Key" -> Select "Custom Installation" -> Click "Install Now". 13. Once you are in the windows where you are to select the drive you wish to install -> Select the "Drive" you have partitioned earlier with the MS-DOS format. 14. If you try to hit next on the drive, it will not work due to an error. 15. To fix this, simply "DELETE" that drive -> After deleting, it will show as "Unallocated Drive" -> Select that and Windows 11 shall now proceed with the installation. 16. Windows 11 installation will take a few minutes so be sure to check on it from time to time. 17. After installation, your machine will restart a couple of times, let it do its thing and wait until you get to the welcome screen of Windows 11. 18. Once you are in the Windows 11 Welcome Screen -> Setup everything -> Connect to the Internet using LAN Cable as WiFi will not work initially. 19. Once finished with the setup process and you are in the windows desktop screen, we can now proceed on installing necessary drivers. 20. Reboot back to Mac OS -> Download "Bombardier" and open it -> In the program menu, select "MacBook Pro 2012 (MacBook Pro 9,2)" and download the package "6.0.6136". 21. After downloading the file, it will be in ".dmg" format. Mount that file, copy all the contents inside that file and paste it into to your thumbdrive. 22. Restart your MacBook Pro back to Windows 11. Once inside windows -> Open Windows Explorer -> Locate Thumbdrive -> Open "Bootcamp.exe" -> Install bootcamp. 23. After installation has finished, select reboot. After reboot, keyboard backlight will still not work, to fix this, simply open "Apple Software Update" app and install all available updates. 24. It will prompt you to restart once drivers are installed, so restart. After the restart, everything should work fine (i.e. Keyboard Backlight, Screen Dimming, Audio, etc.). 25. I'm here to try and find out how Windows 10 or 11 scales, and how it works with Macbook screens. Here's some background to my enquiry: in the old days, if you deviated away from your screen's native resolution on any Windows machine, the resulting text was slightly blurry. And although many people could accept that, I definitely can't. The problem is that I want a new laptop and I've been used to using a relatively low-res 1366x768 screen for years, but they're quite rare now and I really don't want to go higher i.e. up to 1920 (aka Full HD) or 2560 (aka QHD/ 1440p). As this is a work and browsing machine only, the resulting text would be too small for me, and even though I understand that scaling has improved in the Windows operating system in recent years, deviating so far from the technical native resolution is probably going to bug me... unless it's an exact 2:1 scale. By that, I'm referring to the way that Apple laptops have, say, a 2880 screen, but display the desktop at half that resolution, meaning everything is much bigger than it would be on a 2880 res Windows machine, presumably by using two pixels to one (i.e. retina display). So, I want to know if the latest Windows o/s can scale down to exactly match the current 2880 or 3072 res (or older 2013) Apple laptop screens, and if so, is it pin sharp and have the icon-scaling issues from a few years back been solved now? Alternatively (and it has been impossible to find anything at all about this), will the latest WQXGA 2880x1800 laptop screens such as those fitted to Samsung's Windows laptops scale in the same way/ perfectly if I just forget MacBooks altogether?

How does it run? I'm considering if I buy an Macbook Pro 2012 just for Windows 11. Got am M1 Pro Mac and sometimes I just need Windows 11 for some usecases. Already tried Parallels Desktop e.g. but I don't like it. If Windows 11 isn't lagging that much, I would consider buying an older Macbook Pro.
@@MacintoshMen - I disagree, Macs run Windows great. It's just a bit of a process finding all the right drivers but once you have them the system is solid and fast. I do it the opposite way though - run the Bootcamp installer first then clean up with updates or a separate driver program. I've done it dozens of times with great results.
@@thomaseliason8376 I'm not saying that Windows isn't running great on Macs - it is running quite well and I know that. What I meant is that if you only plan to use Windows then it's kind of a waste to get a Mac for that (and putting up with Apple's shit like drivers etc)

Does an external monitor work through the mini display port? I've got windows 10 on mine and was only able to get audio working through a weird egpu method. Any idea on how to get the external display working?

Hi, could you explain more about this or redirect me to a tutorial please. I tried manually installing the imac bootcamp drivers and I haven’t had success. How would we go about using the terminal or cmd prompt?
I was able get windows 11 installed using rufus. I am still struggling getting two things to work and one is more important than the other. The first thing is there is still no audio. I tried running the executables that were a part of your package with no luck. The second and more important thing is to get windows to recognize my second monitor. I am using the Thunderbolt port with a short conversion cable to hdmi. Any ideas on how to get this working? I have searched around quite a bit and not had any luck. Thanks.
On my MacBookPro8,1 the audio doesnt works on Windows 10. Try many many drivers without any result. Just said because I trying W11 right now. At first the macbook said that not support w11, but now, it accepted, I don't know why. Will install, test and feedback.
You just need the exact right driver - one of the BootCamp Apple keyboard drivers will be the right one. Trackpad is exactly the same issue... BootCamp has the right driver but there are so many BC packs you have to research which one is exactly right for your particular computer. Also, WIN7 drivers almost always work.

I agree . screw bootcamp. Rufus lets you bypass any and all win 11 installer restrictions while creating the usb installer , you just need to have another computer , p.c. , to create it though.
Yes Rufus is great in this regard. Bootcamp utility alwyas kinda sucked, it always tried to tell me which Windows version I had to install and how I had to install it (DVD or USB). If you just bypass it you can install it however you like. Stupid program, even when you try to install Windows Apple will still try to control you haha.

Nice, I tried to install Windows 11 custom iso with TPM/CPU bypass and it seems to work fine. I currently run Ventura on my 2012 MBP and to be honest, I always hated bootcamp. For example on the 2019 mbp with amd gpu, I used bootcamp and I was forced to use 30 months old drivers. Later on I sold it and downgraded because of it and the shitty security chip. I'm not a fan of Windows because it's garbage but Linux has too many issues and the custom Windows ISO's that I get from a private/invite-only forum are mostly optimized with all bloatware removed (that bloatware can be restored via powershell) and if you get it from the right system modder, you can get a windows iso, without any activators, that only use 800mb-1.4gb of RAM like in the good old Windows 7 x64 days. Well, I don't know how long I'll use this MacBook that way but once I get my first pay from my home office job that I do alongside school, I'll sell this MacBook for way more that I paid for it since I have there 2 x 500gb SATA SSD's and one 1tb m.2 SATA SSD, new battery from iFixit and I upgraded it from 2gb (2x 1gb) RAM to 16gb RAM and I'll buy an 2020 Dell XPS which has the faster PCIE m.2 SSD's, amazing service manuals if you live in the EU [or use a EU VPN ;) ] and it has almost as good trackpad as the MacBook have. If you studied electronics engineering like I did, you can go to JLC PCB, design your own PCB with a voltage switching chip and a USB C port. I did that on my ThinkPad T60 and I can pre-set the chip to talk to the (Quallcom QuickCharging compatible) charger to deliver 5 - 20volt to the laptop. Sure, you'll have to do a molding for the USB C port or just cut a hole but it's worth it since nowadays everything is powered with USB C. From my fancy car coffee maker to even my little garage door opener where I installed a LiPo battery from one of those disposable e-ciggaretts that can be actually recharged if you know how to do it the proper way.

Honestly, if you want a computer only for Windows buy a PC, Lenovo Thinkpads are pretty good for example.

I honestly had sucess with the imac bootcamp drivers which you Install via terminal. Also you have proper touchpad support.
Good to know! The Touchpad is really unusable without the apple drivers.
Did you implement the bootcamp drivers directly into the Installation files? My installation crashs when trying to boot Windows 11. I assume I need to put in the drivers the drivers somehow.

how to get the keyboard light on the mac with windows 11?
I'm sorry, I don't know.

Thanks for sharing your experiences!
Are you satisfied with the installation of the ventura, how does the system work? I have a 2014 Mac mini with 16 GB of RAM, I'm thinking whether to install it or not.
@@Kostyaboy Ventura is running quite well, has many improvements and some apps work better after the upgrade.
However, if you plan to do heavy software development then don't wonder if the "wakeup lock" command doesn't work most of the time and the device goes into sleep mode. It's a bug that will probably be fixed with the next Ventura patch
