I like the Bose 901 since I bought a pair of Series II many years ago. Now I have Series VI and I still like it. This is the best demo video I have seen here. I enjoyed it. Thank you very much for uploading.
I have owned two sets of Bose 901 Vs, but sold the first pair-I will NOT sell this pair (unless I upgrade to Series VI Concerto). True story: I served with the U.S. Air Force in the Philippines at Clark AB in the mid- to late 80s, and I bought a pair of 901 Vs from a coworker for $500. Amazing sound! Well, my Air Force comrade who lived across the street claimed that he could not get enough bass from his, and said he was going to sell them (they were hung from the ceiling with the reflected backsides facing a very large louvred window that could not seal off sound from the outside, nor reflect very well.). He ended up selling them and replacing them with Klipsch LaScala horn speakers-I found out about that AFTER he sold them. When I asked “Why?”, he said they didn’t produce enough bass for him. So I invited him to come across the street to listen to mine, and he was BLOWN AWAY!! His setup was crappy, but he blamed the speakers. And I truly believe many other haters are just like him. Set them up correctly, and they’ll blow your socks off. I am running mine through a separate power amp, including not just the Bose EQ, but a vintage Technics SH-8066 computer equalizer with pink noise. When I play an SACD on DSD Direct mode, the sound is unreal. Of course, mine are also positioned optimally, according to Bose recommendations, and I couldn’t be happier. PLENTY of low bass and PLENTY of crisp treble. I understand why the true audiophiles of the late 60s and 70s actually admired Bose 901s. The modern “audiophiles” are just whiners that think they know good sound. Nice setup, Alex!
Same here. Bought mine in Okinawa when I was in along with a Carver amp and Preamp. Even bought an extra black equalizer as I was planning to buy the concerto version someday. Due to lack of room I sold mine when I moved back to the states. kept the equalizer for years in original box the finally sold it on Ebay for less than a 100. Getting back into music again and miss what I had. Makes me sick the same equalizer is selling for 250 now on Ebay. Going to keep my eyes open maybe find a pair at an estate sale or something.
@@davidvanausdal9869 - I remember those Carver Amps, the Silver 7 or something? Those were the bomb! Back in the day, my buddies were also buying the Nakamichi Dragon Cassette decks-man, I drooled over those, but couldn’t afford to shell out the money at the time.
I own the 1 Series VI and replaced all the electrolytic capacitors with audio grade. They sound incredible. If these speakers were terrible they would not have been refined and manufactured for almost 50 years! The research and development that went into the 901 driver is more than most manufacturers put into their entire line of speakers!
azzinny then actually did that later on after series I and II, they started to make their drivers in house with also a different voice coil and bigger drivers 4.5inch instead of 4 in the first series.
Literally not true. The 901 driver is a mediocre midrange driver that can tolerate being driven hard out of its natural frequency response range with a heavily equalized amplifier, that's all. They're pretty much a turd with a nice coat of paint on them.
the only people who get their almonds activated when hearing bose are those that listen to himalayan goat rock or really lousy diana krall crap. normal folks like bose's really wide and USEFUL soundstage. would rather use a pair headphones than to sit still for long hours on the couch because a couple cm of movement of the head instantly destroys imaging
70' and dancing with a beautiful girl, this music plays in background in a beach restaurant, while warm wind from beach comes and goes, really that vibe!
Unbelievable sound! I'm very intrigued to look for this series of 901's after listening to this. Is it series 2 or 1? With original equalizer? And what amp is pushing them, Sanyo JA220??? Is it posible with his 2x20W? Thanks in advance Alex
@@npaconstruction In which country can you order Bose 901? In the USA, they had been selling 901 by order only for many years before they discontinued it.
901s will never be my go to speaker! Good...yes! Yeah they're good for mid-range blasts ok. They WILL NOT hit low notes!! Paired with a sub and "capped" 901s could be awesome though!! Lemme edit... For this genre... 901s for sure... Keep listening to great music friends!

@@alexioan6547 I like a lot! When I said vintage bose yours are included! I also have Bose 501 and I 'm thinking to buy 901. Mine was intended to be a very positive comment Alex :-)
Alex Ioan I know they sound good. I've had 901's before. I just don't think the Bose stuff in general is revolutionary for the price. I usually can set up something for 1/3 the price and make it sound so close you can't tell the difference with your eyes closed. Most people hear Bose with their eyes and not their ears. The wall of sound 901's, if set up properly, sound really good. Incorrect set up and they sound like shit, like anything else. Mine were very sensitive to wall type and angle.
The 901 is a phenomenally mediocre speaker, such an outright junk design that it is dependent on heavy equalization to get something vaguely resembling a semi-flat frequency response. It's so bad that eight of nine speakers have to be pointed AWAY from the listener....and it'd be even better if ALL of them were pointed away. Far, far away....like in the county landfill.
The people that like it listen to it. Isn't freedom wonderful? You don't have to listen to the crap we like and we don't have to listen to the crap you like.
Properly placed 901s. Sounds gorgeous.
Old Bose speakers, befor 1985, means many years of musical pleasure

Where's the horn sound everyone thinks is so wonderful. Love the Bose sound ..it's adjustable..
Audiophiles are the most confused acting like they are the gate keepers of sound.
And YES, they sure are some of the best gardiens of high quality sound
😂
They sound the best when suspended from the ceiling and a good amp!

I have a Bose 901 ad claiming +/- 0.1 dB matching for the 9 drivers.

Sounds very nice, Bose gets some stick from audiophiles but some of their kit is very good.
Thank you sir !

With improved highs n lows
they do still sell them..........by order only.....there not foam surrounds anymore either
