    Knowledge of how to use everything you have is just as important as having the kit. If only there was an online platform for people to share information videos.😁😁😁

      This is the most important exactly :)

    I've overlanded around the world professionally but never carried a torque wrench, I do however carry a 4ft long 3/4 drive breaker bar and 27mm single hex impact socket for taking wheel nuts off my Landy, also a 3/4 to 1/2 inch adapter so I can use it on my 1/2 sockets. I'm sure it'll snap anything that doesn't turn 😁. After 40+ years of working on all kinds of vehicles, I have a good level of judgement what is 20/50/80 ftlbs etc enough to get by at the roadside. I can always use the correct kit at home.

    In my G Class 350GD:
    Tibus Beadlock wheels. down to 0.6 Bar/10PSI incredible how far you come with low pressure
    Tiredeflator
    KS Tools Set with 1/2, 3/8, 1/4 Tools. Everything you need
    ViseGrip, totally underrated and often overlooked
    A good shovel
    Snatchstrap with soft shakles
    Uniko 6in1 ramp/traction boards, usable as traction boards but also you can level your car for sleeping
    Foldable saw and axe
    12v Compressor Tmax 300L and puncture repairset
    hi lift jack small
    Jumping clables because my car is automatic
    Pay attention to the aditional payload ! Overloading your overlander can/will result it high fees in some countries !!!!
    Best wishes from Germany

      Nice! Thanks for your message!!! Tibus Beadlock wheels is a dream!!! We love it!!! Do you know if Tibus is making it for Defender with -20 offset?

    • @Drugaskan
      @Drugaskan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@offtrackfamily Had a look on their website, no infos about that.
      Think twice if you really need beadlocks ! They are double the weight. It will be a pain in you back to mount them after working on the breakes. Also you lose speed and acceleration because of the unsuspensionweight increase.
      Also Tibus and Hutchinson are military grade beadlocks. Therefor you need special tools to change the tyre from the wheel.
      If you just want to lower your pressure use "Tire Gliss Lube". It is a glue tractors use, had it before and it worked on my G, 0.8Bar on normal wheels and no problem. Would not buy beadlocks again

    you can use the winch even in the desert, if you bury the spare wheel and use it as an anchor. Great video and greetings from Spain.

    Very Surprised you two haven't invested into roll over protection,
    A lot of funds have been spent to make a excellent overlanding Defender with this exception.
    Excellent tips as always.

    • @offtrackfamily
      @offtrackfamily  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you are not the first to tell us. The only reason it's because we need a little extra storage on the roofrack and for this reason we cannot leave the roofrack to install a roll over cage. In our next project we will remove the jerrycans from the roof because we will install a long range fuel tank. Then we will install a lower alubox storage on the roofrack with more capacity and solar pannel on it so stay tuned for next modifications!

    Very nice recovery gear you have👍🏼One things for sure, quality recovery gear ain't cheap😱 but a worthwhile investment, good quality gear lasts long💪 I also carry a machete which is useful for all sorts of things but an axe or saw or a chainsaw would be more useful maybe for clearing away fallen trees..

    Hi, what is the weight of your car if your traveling? Sometimes less is more all these equipment need a lot of space and don't forget the weight. If you lighter all mechanical parts have less stress and a longer live.
    The key is optimize to a minimum.
    Ps.we also traveling with 4 people the transition from driving to sleep takes me 2 min.
    Salutations Patrick

    • @offtrackfamily
      @offtrackfamily  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Thanks for your comment! Totaly agree with you about weight, but sometime we have to make some choices or compromises. Yes our car is heavy probably around 3 tons but we tried to reduce the weight with time and optimised the driveline and other parts with Heavy Duty. We have a minimal camping gear but for some other things like recovery gears that's maybe a bad choice to travel without it. We are always travelling alone (no other vehicles) so if you get stucked or have a mechanic issue that could stop your progresssion for a little detail, we prefer to have the possibility to fix all what it's possible to fix by ourself. All what we have in our car was used several times when overlanding. The only exception is the winch but when you realy need it it will be very helpful. I saw your setup and it's awsome! but we wanted to keep the 5seats setup because we are 4 people but that's a problem for us to don't have the possibility to take one more people in some situations. That will be for sure the subject of another video but we have a lot of projects in the same time. Hope I answered to your question. Don't hesitate to send me a message if it's not the case.

    Never ever use the tow hook for recovering use. The rear cross member is not designed to take the load. There are recovering points on the chassis. WD-40 is cheap stuff. Tec7 or Würth have much better products. Informative video, but I just carry some straps, a shovel, a saw, a compressor and a 12v water boiler. Good luck to all of you!

    • @offtrackfamily
      @offtrackfamily  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your great feedback and advices. I'm surprised about what you said about the tow hook for recovering. We are well talking about tow hook on the rear bumper? Which better recovering points are you using on the chassis for rear?

    • @paulsehstedt6275
      @paulsehstedt6275 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@offtrackfamily From Land Rover Experience Denmark Chief Instructor Ib Hammer I've learned, not to use the tow hook as recovering point, because it was designed to pull rolling items. My OneTen has special recovery points (rings) both in front and rear. They are standard factory installed, but you can get aftermarket too, and they are stronger. The tow hook can damage the rear cross member when used as revering point. You can of course reinforce the cross member by welding more steel into the bottom and rear side (inside). Search for Defender recovery point on YT or Google.

    • @offtrackfamily
      @offtrackfamily  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks I'll do. Do you have pictures of the recovery points you have on your one ten?
