    Hi guys excellent video... a question though why did you go with LSD setup on all differentials instead of full lockers? Is due to the fact that vehicle is being used in winter on tarmac? And what is your expierence with maintance intervals etc? Thank you again and continuing producing great content !

    • @offtrackfamily
      @offtrackfamily  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We know lsd setup are great for our use of the vehicle as we already had this before replaing them last year. We also prefer to have an only mechanical part to limit possible issues. Yes the lsd are really cool during winter time too :) are you asking for maintenance on diffs?

    • @blue-tb6uv

      @@offtrackfamily thanks for reply much appreciated! I heard from few ppl wrongfully or rightfully that LSD clutches require replacement every 20k ... not sure what has your expierence been ? We do a lot of winter driving hence the concern on additional maintenance every year or so ...

    Hi, great set-up and excellent presentation. Wouldn't you mind shedding some light on the 8x16 modulars, pls. Are these from Paddocks? To keep the truck road legal, I would need a kind of certification of durability etc. -at least by the manufacturer ( who ever?) or the TÜV f.e. By now, I did not find one. Regards Heinz

      European fuel (petrol & diesel) are equivalent to about $15/gallon so rigs are set up to go longer and slower. As most people define Overlanding as the journey and enjoy the drive to get there. Slow down Americans take a page out of our (Hawaiians) book and 🤙 hang loose/go with the flow

    Looks like you’ve invested a lot of time and money perfecting your fabulous vehicle. As you were showing us the underside around suspension mod’s etc. I noticed some “cable ties” wrapped around parts, couldn’t tell exactly what they were retaining but ties can fail more easily than we think and you wouldn’t realise until something important got compromised under there, just a thought....🤔

      @offtrackfamily  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We wanted to try the Nissan Patrol in 2009 before buying our LR but its utility version wasn't available in Switzerland anymore at that time. On top of that a friend had big problems with Nissan because the engine failed completely after only 60k km & Nissan didn't want to apply the warranty on this brand new vehicle. Understand we weren't to keen for that model anymore.

    What is the overall weight when it is fully laden? and what is your fuel consumption? A Defender is much easier to improve than my twenty year old ML320! It would be interesting to see a budget analysis over the years you have had it!

    • @offtrackfamily
      @offtrackfamily  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your message. Yes would be an interesting video doing a budget analysis. It's weight is near 3t & the fuel is about 11l per 100km, but of course this depends on the roads & speed. Consumes more when on highway at 120km/h.

    I found that going from a Donaldson pre-cleaner to the Toyota mushroom top style one led to less dust making it to the air-filter on a Defender (Safari snorkel on 300Tdi). The Toyota style cap seems to spin out dust more effectively, as well as being a lot more compact and robust. It was only about $40AUD on eBay (from Malaysia), so you needn't spend big on a genuine item. Have you found any steering issues with the ATB on the front diff? I've heard that the Tru-Track is better suited to the front with a less noticeable effect on steering. I've got lockers front and back, which the 110 came with, but if I had to do it again, I'd go for ATBs/Tru Tracks (front and rear) for simplicity and optimal traction all the time. Thanks for your video tour.

    • @offtrackfamily
      @offtrackfamily  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your feedback! Yes we also heard that Tru-Track was better. But a friend installed it in his 90 so the only way to be sure is to compare. We will see with time if it's reliable or not. About the steering, no difference at all from stock with the ATB. Don't hesitate to ask if you want to see specific things in our next vids.
