Oh wow! Amazing rescue. So glad you recovered it. So it actually takes the water quite well. I tried to fly mine through a set of MacDonald's arches and it didn't end well. Drone fell hard from up there after having to dislodge it. Aside from propellers and an IMU calibration it needed nothing to fly again. Those drones are amazing!
Congratulations! Its great you managed to retrieve it and it still works! Reminds me of my first drone, the predecessor to yours (Mavic Mini or what some call it Mini 1) And, I still fly it every now and then and give my others a rest
Fill a container with rubbing alcohol and submerge the drone in it for a couple of minutes while moving it around in the alcohol. Obviously do not do this to the battery. They let it dry for a week!
I am amazed it recorded for so long and that it made two segments underwater. Also since you didn't ask.... When the drone starts misbehaving and is headed towards disaster. Let go of the controls. The drone will stop where it is and hover and that will give you a chance to figure out what is going on and proceed from there.
I sent my Mini SE for a swim about one month ago. Underwater in shallow water for about 2 minutes. Like yours, the battery was ruined but the drone flew again after several days of full-sun drying. Unfortunately, it has developed an intermittent video "jitter" so the video is unusable about half the time. Also, when the drone is powered on and the motors are OFF, there is a slight, intermittent buzzing sound from the gimbal. I am guessing that the buzzing is related to the jitter, and they are both related to the swim. I don't have the insurance as did not know about it at first. Hard lesson learned about hand-catching from a kayak.
They repaired my gimbal issues and replaced the battery for around $215. Then I was able to apply for the insurance via some tests and an application process. Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe!
Hey It was not two hours, but I crashed mine in a riverf. Two feet of water maybe. I oulled out inmediatly. I took it home let it dry and it did flew again! After testing I turn it off and opened the battery compartment and put inside small bags of silica for any humidity just in case.
Nope i was too lol, and he even try to turn in on right out of the water 😢, i dropped mine in the water too, it was under like 8 feet and it did survive after a whole week of drying and extra drying lol
Y did it crash? My mini three just crashed because for some reason it lost signal and it couldn’t load back up so I’m gonna try to do a hotspot on my phone I think that’s what I need. This is a screen type the new type but I use my phone as a I don’t know what you call it station.
I gave my mini 2 a salt water swim, It was in the mater for maybe 30 minutes at most. When I got to it, it was smoking. Naturally I pulled the battery out but I could not recover the drone, it was toast. Sadly I didn't have DJI care refresh because thought I'm seasoned pilot I wont need it. Guess again. So pleased you managed to save yours. Got a sub from me for such a excellent recovery. 🦘😎👍
Impressive underwater footage from the Mini 2, I had no idea that was a feature DJI put in there? 😳 That deserves a sub, hopefully you'll connect with another Mini drone pilot? BTW holding 'down' makes it land, oh you already figured that out⚠️😁👍
@@spkgear That's always a good option for new flyer, well worth it as DJI often send a complete new unit out rather than repair your old one. Even a seasoned drone pilot like myself has those buttock clenching moments flying over water! 😲😳😁 Launching from a boat, that was very brave, I've never tried that, landing would definitely be a challenge, would definitely get my adrenaline pumping for sure! 😲😁👍 You took it very calmly when it went in, I'm sure I'd have been doing a lot more swearing!! 😁👍
Firstly, I would never take a drone up with a part charged battery, you never know if you will ever require extra flight time, Secondly, I noticed some of your blades have damaged ends, thats a no fly situation, lastly, make sure you are familiar with the controls before you even contemplate taking it over water. Its a learning curve, be interesting to know if the camera works, i would take at guess there are water stains on the lenses.
@@spkgear , The only bad part is you have to purchase the insurance within 48 hours of activation of drone. I didn't know if you purchased it or not. Good luck
As the water is fresh, water you have more chance of saving it. Place some silica gel pads around it to draw out the moisture or place next to a dehumidifier from about 3 days as that worked for me
Yo, sorry about your submarined mini 2. Hope you get it up and running again thru the Care refresh program. As a new program pilot, try not to fly over water. Get confi with the sticks on land, open place.. and be gentle on the sticks .
Everybody ignores the fact that a drone needs to be earthed. Before flight, Especially when flying from boats as static electricity will draw the drone into the water.
Wow! That is insane! I wasn’t expecting that thing to ever work again.
Thanks for watching! I did end up having to have the gimbal repaired. Please subscribe if you haven't!

Impressive recovery. I have used a rubbing alcohol bath to avoid the corrosion. It worked well.
Very good idea! Thanks for watching! Please subscribe if you haven't already!
So you rub like an alcohol wipe on the interior? Is that how you do it?

Interesting, ok thanks.
Glad you got it to work again. I have the Mini 3 and every time I go over water I wonder 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have definitely been reluctant to repeat! Thanks for watching

How lucky are you that 1, you found it and 2, it still flys….
Thanks for watching!
User manual: don't take off from a boat
Also user manual: don't fly over the water (or other reflective surface)
This dude: who cares xd
You read the user manual?
@@spkgear of course.

I've opened and conformal coated my mini 2. Nice to know it resistant stock.

If you got dji care refresh it's like $40 for a brand new one.
Looks like DJI charges $36 for Care Refresh for the Mini 2 SE and $29 for the replacement fee. Thanks for the tip!

That's some funny crap.
I noticed the props on 1 motor have the tips broken off. This will damage the motor, and put it back in the lake🥴

Fresh water or salt water lake 🤔
Fresh. Thanks for watching!
Do you know how rare salt water lakes are? What an odd question.
