    Not a bad leak detector in the mid price range. It definitely works and it's something that every HVAC technician needs on his van.

      Yeah the lot could be useful. Not a bad detector at all. Most places seem to be selling it for around $150, which is a little high but still within reason. You can replace the sensor in the UEI but the sensor costs around $50. Thanks for watching Kanga 👍

      @@hozerhvac4406 just remember to leave the sensitivity turn all the way off until you go through your 45-second warm period. Turn the sensitivity on low and slow to maintain that "slow tick rate" & bump it with a lighter to test it. While you're using it you can slowly increase the sensitivity to find the "sweet-spot." And once you have found a leak with a larger concentration of gas you can dail the sensitivity down to zero in on the exact spot of the leak. I think you'll really like it 😎👍

    indoor areas with "dead air", it's hard to beat my nose as a gas detector. days my allergies/sinus are clear of course.
    the gas co. used to free leak detect and mark years ago, somewhere along the line they got lazy and just shut the whole building down now or cut and cap a section if it's not at an appliance shutoff.

    • @sknight0391
      @sknight0391  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it's a pain in the ass when the gas company shut you off.I had a gas pack that was leaking at the coupling outside right beside the unit. The leak was extremely obvious (one you could smell with your nose) and easily soap bubble. But the damn Gas companybshut the gas off to the entire house and we had to pressurize the entire line at 10 psi for 10 minutes and wait on one of their guys to come out and watch it before they would turn it back on.

    One is made in China, the other in Taiwan. Other than the UEi having a replaceable sensor, I can’t see spending $125 more for it. The red light, I noticed, could also be used to indicate how close you are to a pipe, which would keep you from accidentally getting pipe dope on it (light narrows as you get closer). Good video.

    • @sknight0391
      @sknight0391  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the replacement sensor alone cost $45 to $50. You could buy a whole new red Chinese one for less than that. And it looks like most places are selling the UEI $150 or more. Which makes it even less of a deal.

      Thanks for the advice. I'm a licensed general contractor. I've done most of my work for over 35 yrs. I'm sure there is a leak. I'll find it one way or another. Its a raised floor so should be easy to find with a detector. Valve is off. Might be coming from supply line on gas company side. Gonna check house first since its 100 yrs old😱.
