Perhaps the most perfect song ever written. Segar is the Norman Rockwell of rock . This song screams America and evokes memories of the days in the past when life seemed so innocent .

60 year old here. I do not believe that young people are bad. They seem quite decent to me. Sure, some of them aren't so cool, but that's true of people at any age. I think the kids are all right. The planet isn't, though.

@@bongodave13 True, I'm 65 and just a mean old bastard. But I've been working for it all my life. I think what pisses me off the most about the young today is i see them making the same mistakes i did when i was their age. Having fun and not giving a shit. Even though it was the best time of my life, I kinda wonder if i should have payed a little more attention?
But i digest. I'm not a very good judge of the youth of today we don't interact unless by accident.

Jamel, my oldest brother bought Bob Seger's 'Ramblin Gamblin Man' in a 45 when he was home on leave in 1969. It began my becoming a life long fan of the artist's work. My brother passed recently and he willed me his album collection. Every album Seger put out is in this collection. I think of my brother now I many times think of our love of Seger's work. That, is comforting.

Rest in peace, Pete Carr. He gave us so much great guitar work over the decades including this album
Pete passed away last week. The beautiful organ playing was the great Barry Beckett who passed away in 2009. The legendary Muscle Shoals Swampers have dwindled to 2. They were THE go to band in the late 60s through the mid 80s when it comes to the studio magic.
By the way, this WAS NOT the silver bullet band. It was the legendary Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, aka the Swampers.

I’m so proud of you brotha, you have finally found Bob Seger. I think he is one of the best singer, songwriters in American music. I’ve referred to him as the American Beatle. I’m glad and so happy to see you enjoy him and his music. I’ve wanted you to listen to him for so long now and I’m glad you are finally here. I know you cannot react to all of his hits, but I strongly, strongly encourage you to check out all of his music from start to finish on your own. You will forever be a Bob Seger fan. I am 53 years old and have been a Bob Seger fan since I was 16. My daughter is 25 and she is a Bob Seger fan. My daughter gave me a birthday present last year by taking me to a Bob Seger’s farewell concert in Austin. To be able to see Bob in person singing and playing all those hits was amazing. I adore this song. it is very much a him and her song. the song starts with that totally inspired "singing" guitar. it is bright and clear and pretty and it sounds like her dancing. then there is a second guitar part at 3:05 it's gruff and also emotional... that's him watching her. at the end they dovetail together so even if the lyrics dont indicate that they got together maybe at least she noticed him. along with the bass and the Hammond and piano.... this is just a masterpiece.

Thank you for your reactions to Bob. I've heard these songs for most of my life, and loved them all that time, but to see someone listen to them, and appreciate them for the talent involved and the excellence of the performances, brings a smile to my face. I'm glad you said something about the fine musicianship in the songs, because I've grown old listening to these songs, and I've realized that I just expect the musicianship to be this good, because back in the 60's, 70's, and 80's, they had to be that good to be successful. What you say is great playing is, but I've kind of forgotten how great it is, because I know it is that good, it's just normal to me. But watching you and how you listen to and appreciate how great they are playing, makes me really re-appreciate how great they are, not just Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, but a lot of them. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. Thank you for your reactions.

The lead guitarist on this recording was the legendary Pete Carr. He was one of the "Swampers," a member of the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section who played on over 80 number 1 albums in the 60s and 70s. Unfortunately, Pete passed away yesterday at the age of 70. He also played with Duane Allman in the Hourglass, and with Lenny Leblanc. Here he is in a documentary short Session Men of the Muscle Shoals Documentary th-cam.com/video/tyM-X01c8a4/w-d-xo.html, where he tells the story of getting the gig to record with Bob Seger. There is also a youtube video of Leblanc and Carr playing the song "Falling" on American Bandstand with Dick Clark from 1977. He also played on other hits by Bob Seger (Against the Wind album), Linda Ronstadt, Rod Stewart (Tonight's the Night), Barbara Streisand (What Kind of Fool and Woman in Love), Luther Ingram (If Loving you is wrong), Joe Cocker, Paul Simon, and many others of the era. Check out his wikipedia page en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_Carr and the youtube channel Char Carr th-cam.com/play/PLl7YLiRqwQfFoh7DFEINsdebU3-ZDAjkX.html for more links to his music. He will be truly missed. Our heartfelt condolences to his wife Charlotte and son John. Jamel, play some more songs Pete was on, as a tribute for us all! Muscle Shoals is about 80 to 90 miles from where I live in Central Alabama. I've never been there, but I still plan on making it before I die! It's on my bucket list... Thanks for bringing them up.
