Cool idea having a dedicated Saturn box! I love the Saturn but could no way find 330+ games I'd want though! 😂 I have a similar box (i5-4570t) but had to stay with Batocera 32 as it just seemed to run Saturn better than the subsequent releases on it. You can get VF2 running really well with Bettle with a couple of simple tweaks, and Kronos even plays VF Remix pretty much perfectly, whereas the newer releases have a strange ring-out bug where one kick sends the opponent flying out of the ring!
I do like to use yabosanshiro because of the upscaling feature but not all Saturn game run on it. I made a list of all the games and what emulator they’re running on. Btw, it’s now pushing over 450 games and climbing. Most of the Saturn releases were in Japan and that’s what I’m going through now.
@@HumanoidMachines Can be fun checking out some of those Japan only titles. Especially the fighting games. On any system , ps1,ps2 as well for eg Check the large number of Kamon Rider games for eg..
@@HumanoidMachines oh. Apparently they can run in MAME or Kronos. Haven't tried yet myself... Have downloaded the ROMs... Never could get Kronos to work on windows.
I had the PSx but Saturn was always a mystery to me. Kind of an odd system that looked out of place. Most of its game releases were in Japan so I’ve always wanted to know more. You can see why it failed against the PlayStation but it’s got a charm to it and some exclusive titles.
Yeah, the Yabasanshiro core will run most and we can upscale which is great but for those that need the Beetle core we cant upscale. For Kronos, when ever I tried it just for testing every game I tried with it ran terribly slow but I guess the devs include it for a reason. For games yaba or beetle cant run right? Cant be many surely.
Plus beetle won't run full speed with some titles: try Nights for example...I had i3 4160T and it struggled at some points (almost perfect but not perfect...). You need a little bit more single thread performance. I would recommande 6 gen or 7 gen i3 or Ryzen 3/5 to get full speed beetle saturn emulation. You can now find plenty of those for cheap in the used market...
@@TheAlucard63 is that Night Striker S or Night Warriors ? Had a Ryzan 5 but it was a door stopper… no matter what it would not run Batocera, just a black screen? Was probably around batocera 33/34.
@@HumanoidMachines I'm talking about Nights into dreams. Regarding the retro gaming I currently use a Lenovo Tiny M75q with a Ryzen 3400GE and it works like a charm for beetle saturn (I only use beetle as I aim for accuracy more than graphical upgrade...). My former retro gaming pc was a optiplex 3050m with i5-7500 and had no issue with beetle saturn either. Before that I owned a optiplex 3020m with a i3 4160T and had few dropped frames. I upgraded to opiplex 3050m for saturn as well as being able to run mupen64-next with parallel-RDP...for the first part is was a success...for the last one...not perfect due to UHD630 still being a bit shitty...so I upgraded again to ryzen 3400GE for better GPU (for PS2 also...) and it does exactly what I wanted to do for a while: emulate everything up to PS2/XBOX/Gamecube with maximum accuracy with lastest batocera version.

May as well add Sega's saturn arcade board (STV) roms too...
That’s interesting, I’m not sure if batocera can emulate the titan board. I’ll look into this 👍

Not sure what it is with the Saturn but it never interested me, I hardly knew it existed to be honest! Nice build though

I found a couple of games that would only run on Kronos. It’s not great but better than nothing
