Wow love me some Saturn! Would this pc be capable of running the accurate Beetle core? That's my go to emulator
@@jonnyblanka Beetle is my second port of call and because I made a Excel sheet of my installation, out of the 640 games I have, 115 are running on Beetle
@@HumanoidMachines I think it would need an 15 to run all games on beetle eh? What do you think? Could be an interesting setup
@ I think this would perform really well with beetle. I couldn’t say for sure how many because my first goto emulator was Yaba. Obviously an i5 would cope better though. Saturn is a tough platform to emulate.
@@HumanoidMachines I'm going through somewhat of an obsession since I discovered I can play saturn games on my laptop, I want to make it run on all my devices now haha. Do you mind sharing with me your excel list of games that run?
@ absolutely, look up my Facebook page. Link is under my TH-cam main page title. Message me there and I can get your email address. Best not to post it here you may get spammed out. Alternatively look me up on instagram #humanoid_machines 👍
Im pretty sure even before v38 you'll have issues getting all Mugen to run in the Mugen folder. When I started adding Mugen I found a few worked in the Mugen folder but almost all worked if I put them in the Windows folder instead. (Make sure they are in the correct windows folder too, not the one thats for installable games). Pretty sure I was doing this before v38. Also, you dont need to rename games that have spaces to get them to run. For those, put the cmd line in quotation marks. For eg: "cmd=MK 10.exe" So all this also works if adding windows games that are in folder form as well. Sometimes you need to add an additional line on the cmd file depending on the folder structure of the game as some have multiple folders. Like you may need to add a directory line that points to the folder that the exe in it. Batocera Nation has a video showing that. Also, for Mugen games that dont always display correctly on your device, you may have a squashed screen, or the game is showing in a smaller window. For that you need to go into the data folder of the Mugen game, and edit a certain cfg file, and edit one of the display txt lines, this isnt always easy as Ive spent hours trying different resolution numbers trying to get a game to display full screen at a proper aspect ratio.
And then theres the matter of mapping your controller too, within the Mugen game.
@@fonzitheman as always, great info 👍 I never tried mugen earlier than 37 so only noticed the instal issue at 39. With the renaming to lowercase, no gaps etc. that came about after one of my first installs… I got a game working (can’t remember which) after doing this so I stuck with the procedure. This video is to get folks up and running. That display info I needed, thanks for the heads up, I’ll look into that because I noticed a few games going out of range. Mostly the bottom part of a display not visible ☹️ Thanks for that 👍
@@HumanoidMachines Not easiest explaining it here, the res changing. Pretty sure Batocera Nation may have more info on that on his Mugen Batocera video he did ages back. Edit: The Batocera wiki has some info on what file to edit.
That looks great. Dont know most of these games. I will need to check and add more games to my saturn collection.
@@ll_spud it’s brilliant discovering gems that I never knew existed.
@HumanoidMachines whats the name of the last go cart game? You forgot to mention it. For research purposes 😅
@ Formula Karts: Special Edition
@@HumanoidMachines Thanks. It looks fun. Will check it out
@@ll_spud it’s a blast and very different physics from your normal racers. Strange that the menu system stuttered yet the gameplay was perfect at 4x. Lowering resolution or switching to Beetle emulator would sort it but gameplay is perfect on Yabasanshiro.
How come you turned comments off on the Mugen vid? Wad gonna leave one there. Some info/feedback I wanted to add.
I didn’t know the comments were off? I’ll take a look. Bet I pressed something by mistake, thanks for the heads up 👍
For some reason I had set to a kids video that appeared to have disabled comments… my bad
Dunno how you're managing to get anything running at 4x resolution on that CPU, with 4130T I can only get 1x resolution on pretty much everything. 4th gen i5 though, no issues.
@@studioeight4571 it’s a i3-4160T and using Yabasanshiro most games will crank up to 4x with no problems. I did find a small number of games that struggled. Weirdly, that last go kart game played beautiful but stuttered on the menu system? Also not all the game Roms worked under Yaba so they’re switched over to Beetle or Kronos.
I like to use yaba core too but as you said not all games are compatible with it so for those I switch to the Beetle core but ofcourse it doesnt have an upscaling feature. As for kronos core, I find performance on that not very good, perhaps its just suited to a very select few roms?
@@fonzitheman exactly the same here. Beetle, for sure is the next port of call and Kronos is a “get out of jail” option 😂

How does it compare to a ryzen 2400ge with the rx 560 gpu for the hp elite desk 705 g4?
@@Billy-zo9bk same as b4, my Ryzan experience is limited at this point 😬
I assume since this runs X360 emulation, it runs most ps2 games on pcsx2 1080p without any stutters?
@@Billy-zo9bk it manages a few 360’s and yes it will play a lot of ps2 at 1080
Would this or a Ryzen 5 2400GE with the RX 560 plug in GPU be better? Or even just compared to the 2400GE by itself? What kind of modern games can the i5 9500T run?
@@Billy-zo9bk I can’t comment on the Ryzen 5 as I’ve not tested one. The few Ryzen 5’s I’ve had have all gave me problems in some way. So I’ve never got this far with them. The 9500T played Wii-U exceptionally well. Was good with PS3 drawing a similar yet slightly better performance than the i5-8500t.
Great video! I'm sure now, I don't want this device. Wanted to check out a budget mini pc for emulation. But the sound "issues" would drive me crazy 😄 Will go for a solid middle class mini pc.
@@MikeAwesome888 that sound issue on ico (ps2) is only happening because I pushed it up to 2k. Easily rectified by dropping that one game down a notch. I included that footage to show a certain limit to how far it can be pushed. Most other ps2 were flawless in 2k. 😁
@HumanoidMachines That's clear with Ico. I'm talking about the small issues in sound in every game. For example Mortal Kombat vs DC: When you push him through the ice wall and then jump down. That happens in every game. Sound is glitching for 0,5 seconds
@ I see what you mean, yes, again it can be sorted by pushing the resolution down or even swapping out the audio drivers. I’m just pushing the max and being a little lazy 🤣
@@HumanoidMachines That's clear, that you tried to push everything to the limits😄 But these limits are not in my acceptable range 😂 I use my old phone (Honor Magic 5 Pro w Snapdragon 8 Gen 2) or my Samsung Tab S9 Ultra for emulation, but have similar limits. I want something, that defines emulation on a higher level. Don't judge me😂😂 My decision is between this HP as a budget solution and an Atomman G7 PT as a "I throw money onto the problem" solution 😄
Im having performance issues with my i5-9500T. It runs slower than my i7-6700T. I tried ur Bios setting in ur recent video and it doesnt work. Turning off turbo increases thr performance however its capped at 2.2mhz. Do u know what the problem is? I might have to resort to retrobat in windows
@@ll_spud that’s strange, essentially as it improves with turbo off. Maybe reset the bios and starting again. Also is there a tick box in Performance that says Limit “whatever”… any tickbox that says limit this and that then untick. Updating or even rollback bios could work too. I’ve had a few weird bios issues from time to time. It’s not a batocera problem as such. Hope it works out for you 👍
@HumanoidMachines Yes i removed the limiter. Played around with all the settings and updated to latest Bios. I will try and older version and hopefully get it working. System runs really slow so don't know what's wrong. Also changed the psu to check if it was faulty. Thanks

@@TheLoneRoninYT yes, the Lenovo M93 is a solid machine and great performance for a small investment 👍👍
Thats dopeee
I would not even test anything below ps2 with a CPU like this, just concentrate on ps3 performance
I am waiting for Duckstation to add in an auto disc start function and when there is no disc inserted you go the the PS OS just like using an original PlayStation. Alle these emulators are based around using disc images instead of discs. And I hate that. I have a shelf full of physical PS games and I want to use them. This is all nice and all, and I applaud you for keeping the Original PS alive. But it is time we have a disc option and full PS emulation like playing on a actual PlayStation. There are already too many of these solutions out their, but creating an emulator more based on a disc based system seems to get no attention at all.
Is there no other way i have no keyboard and mouse? and apparently only a mechanical keyboard can follow this trick
@@gamebureau1924 I don’t know of another way. I use a variety of keyboard/mouse including those all in one types that you usually find on android systems.
I just got a 9700T today for my dell 3070 Micro, replacing an 8300T. 8700T seems to be about the same performance but cheaper. My Dell will use an RTX 3050 8gb so hopefully that will bump it up a bit from the HD630?
@@P5BDeluxeWiFi the 9700t will be similar performance but noticeable better when you dive into the higher end emulations such as ps2/3, GameCube, Wii-u etc
Do I have to unzip PS1 and PS2 games?
@@lynx9311 yes, ps1&2 don’t accept zipped files. Within their game folder is an info text file which tells you what file types are compatible.
@HumanoidMachines ok I was able to unzip most except Armageddon. It sain unable to list archive

@HumanoidMachines I'm currently on that. I'm doing it on my steamdeck and I can see the file manager because the SD card is in my Steamdeck but I can't copy and paste because I'm on desktop mode. I shouldn't have a problem when I boot into batocera as long as I move the Isos and the .pbp to a usb
Humanoid tell me... will I gain a lot by switching to this i7 from my i5 8500t
@@krzysztofjablonski1247 I’d say that jump in performance is not so great. You’ll get some more ps3 and further upscaling success in ps2 but the i5-8500t performs so well it’s not worth the change. Maybe an 11th gen i5 or greater would be more of a reason👍
I’m struggling to get this level of performance but then again I am booting from an external mechanical harddrive. I have ordered another 8gb of ram so I’ll see if that makes a difference. If not, may invest in a new internal ssd… Useful video, thanks!
