I usually don't like the satin finishes. I really like car finishes that look wet and have a mile deep shine. This finish you put down is stunning and looks FANTASTIC!!! Congratulations on a great job and great outcome using your products.
As a carpenter of 30yrs, I recommend using a laser level (on vertical setting) to aim the tape perfectly... only need 2 reference points to stripe all but one end of the car.
as a customizer i give you this advise. before you tape the outer edges, mask it close to the edge for the over spray, then apply your final stripe. Why? when pealing off the taped edge if you drop it or drag it across the car you rick getting color on the finished area. I just pull the edge back and let it lay on top of the mask paper till it is dry.
that last guideline where in you peel the tape while the last coating is still wet is crucial. without knowing it that’ll be a bummer :) thanks for the tips!
Richard Dehart no it isnt at least not in this case someone might stumble on to the video looking how to put on stripes and just assumes that you can remove them like on normal paint . also someone who had their car dipped maybe a year ago and decides to add some stripes to it only to later remember damn thats permanent now . or how about someone who makes a mistake its either crooked or while removing the tape the edge rips well that means you have to redip the whole panel or in the worst case the whole car . suddenly a simple stripe job can cost you 500+ dollars . this video needs a disclaimer if you fuck up or you dont like the stripes anymore it will get EXPENSIVE
Crushonius I mean, anybody with a few dendrites to rub together can (with little effort) come to the conclusion that the dip they've laid on top of the other dip is now "perminant". I mean hell it isn't rocket science
OK, I like to note that he waited only 10 minutes between coats, this is essential. You don't want the dip to dry like 30 minutes between coats. If you give the blue 10 minutes, it will begin to dry but it's still tacky and wet under the surface, you can actually remove it with your finger nail. This partial drying will allow you to put the next coat without runs and still able to peel because all the coats are still wet.
Glad I decided to buy this 4K TV for my dad now since he never really uses it, I'm always on TH-cam and here I am watching these videos and freaking out over the quality being too realistic 😂
Car looks great! Also, the drone pilot is getting excellent. Does your C100mk2 footage come out of camera looking like this, or do you guys do some image enhancing in post? It makes me want to buy a C100Mk2...
Did the lines cut as clean as they did because the spray will still very wet or because it was applied over a dipped surface? Thanks and great job over the years buddy.
The car looks great! It would be nice if you add a couple of clips of the parts that didnt go according to plan so we can learn from them. I noticed in the front bumper and the back mustang seal things got a little messed up. ;)
I love to see you paint a car then show us how you peal the paint off the hole car after you had it on for a bit . To show us how easy it is to put new pant on after you peal the old pant off .
Based on your experience , is it guaranteed that when peeling off the masking tape with last coat still being wet, that the few previous dried coats applied that was lapped on the tape and vehicle and the one under that the tape was applied on will not peel? even though the last coat is still wet while removing masking?
well done, but I thought you were going to put a 1/4 inch stripe around the 8 inch stripe. you've probably seen them on other vehicles. But it looks very good. Thanks for the video.
If I want a shiny finish on my stripes, would I follow the same process, and peel tape on the last wet clear coat? I feel like at that point, there may be too many layers, and the lines wouldn't come out sharp.
I am about 98% confident in my decision to buy a plastidip kit. the only hesitation I have is regarding the staining that some people have experienced. What causes this? why does it happen? there is very little info on the forums or fb except that it's only nissans (but I've seen subarus and mercs affected) and to use grey/white as a base first. makes me nervous
Not if the plastidip color has attacked the basepaint through the top clear. Because then you have to polish through the top clear and into the base paint.
MrTwenty6 I did my tail lights with 5 coats and couldn't peel it off and when I took my masking tape off it peeled on the sides, Idk lol he makes it look so easy xc
I was wondering if, because you didn't lay a top coat or a clear coat over the stripes, they will eventually begin to chip or peel overtime. Have you seen this before and would you recommend laying a top coat?
It is safe to wash, Fonzie demonstrated it on another video. Also it lasts for a long time, some people's dips have lasted for years and still looks fresh.
Ov my gosh I was wondering if you could do this!! Now im REALLY excited to get my mustang!! Bought a 2005 and i want the stripes. I know I'm late, but I'm so glad you have this video still. 👌
Super neat...damn gorgeous racing stripes. Parker @ Vehicle Virgins should have watched this vdo to bring out a better finish on his Lambo's plasti dip.
looks great, but i wish you would have shown how you fixed the chunks that came off on the front of the car. seems like it would be the most common issue
I just got through watching the video how to put straps on the car that satin white or that's hot that's a beautiful color I'd like to have that on my car I have a Nissan Versa it's white now but I'd like to have oh really a satin look to it I enjoyed the video thank you for it
Quick question, how would plasti-dip work on a car like a '69 Chevy Nova? My uncle has one and parts of it aren't painted and the guy he is trying to have do it is being annoying about it, and I was thinking of suggesting this to him. Also, what would you suggest you practice on before actually dipping the car, as in distance from car, thickness of spray, how long you should spray for, etc. , and how long should you practice.
It would work well on any car I think. Choose what color you want, if you want a pearl, satin, flat, or gloss finish, and just follow the videos to get what you want.
I've been jumping from video to video of his trying to decipher this mystery as well. The closest I've gotten is when he did some similar striping, the camo job, and he laid down a pretty wet coat, 2 or 3 coats-worth, let it dry "completely" then laid a final 2 to 3 coats-worth of wet then immediately peeled the tape. This video has thrown me as he now went 3 passes with no indication of timing/drying.
Wow great nod buys and nice way of showcasing this product. How does this product holds up in Northern part of America, like in Quebec Canada? Better in the summer?
While you're letting the PDS white coat dry for 24 hours, why did you leave the masking on? Won't that peel the edges along the windows and such when you go to remove it after it's been on for that long?
Could you tell me how many coats I'd need if using on an area that sees regular abrasion?
7 ปีที่แล้ว
What does that mean "an area that sees regular abrasion"? What part of your car is seeing "regular abrasion" And if any part of your car is seeing regular abrasion I wouldnt dip it lol.. Just curious? Or is it even a car you're talking about?
+Fonzie I have a dip your car idea. I have a Kona Blue 2018 Ford Mustang, I love the color, however, I'd like to use the plasti-dip as a little paint protection. From birds, a stray cat, rock chips etc.. There is a Body line at top of the fender, and it goes all the way around the car, across the doors, rear quarter and trunk... I'd like to see this stripe idea used to plasti-dip everything above that body line Black Satin, and then a thin 3/8" pinstripe of color to separate the black and the factory Kona Blue.... Maybe -- Red, or Lime Green, or Hot Pink or something similar...
This was absolutely awesome! I got too excited and started playing with the stripes colors in photoshop, just beautiful! Defiantly keep these videos going!
Except for all the exterior mods like a wide body kit lol oh wait that means the only thing similar is it's the same year with the classic mustang stripes
This project was a ton of fun.
Doing it to my Isuzu Trooper today! Second hood I'm doing.

The benefits of spraying on your stripes is that there are no bubbles that will occur💯👍🥰...Awsome Job and thank you for sharing🙂

This has yet to be confirmed, as mustangs don't hit 200 mph under their own power!
Legend has it the first mustang didn't run into crowds.
How to add 10hp to any vehicle
villen I would say at least 15 lol
villen duh. That's why they are called racing stripes. They also help with aerodynamics.

i like this mustang design more than the current one.
Will Lowe except that RC like antenna lmao I wouldn't even think about it now that I think about it...
Will Lowe couldn't agree more
yeap! the new ones are ugly as he'll. they round all corners thats for sure
me too the mustangs from 2005-2009 were the best years. The new ones aren't bad at all but from 05-09 they had it looking most like the muscle era.
Yup S197...best looking Mustang.
You dipped the roof of a car! Holy crap! Looks fantastic, love the stripes.
anybody else wanna see some super-glossy hypershift pearl stripes on a matte black car?
Yes
yes
Jacob M'Boi yoooooo
I mean i don't wanna have it but definitely wanna see it!
If Clorox Bleach approves. Then I have got to see this.
12:21 How satisfying!
Come on people, 2.7 million views and only 17k likes.. Fonzie and the crew deserve 2 million likes on this :)
that last guideline where in you peel the tape while the last coating is still wet is crucial. without knowing it that’ll be a bummer :) thanks for the tips!
you forgot to tell the people that you cant remove the stripes without peeling the whole car .
true
Crushonius pretty sure thats self explanatory. Dip tried on top of Dip isnt separating .
Wow!
That's some not understanding right there.
Crushonius I mean, anybody with a few dendrites to rub together can (with little effort) come to the conclusion that the dip they've laid on top of the other dip is now "perminant". I mean hell it isn't rocket science
damn that came out so nice holy crap, now i wanna mustang to do that too lmao

Glad I decided to buy this 4K TV for my dad now since he never really uses it, I'm always on TH-cam and here I am watching these videos and freaking out over the quality being too realistic 😂
i dont think these videos are shot in 4k.
I want racing stripes but totally forgot plastidip was an option. Thank goodness this exists 🙏
The most beautiful 5.0 I've ever seen.
I bet that dip job would look even better with a gloss coat with a slight blueberry juice touch to it.
That white pearl with the blue stripes looks great
I have always loved the stripes on a mustang! it's such an iconic look! out of 5 that's a 10!
Looks great. I love that year Mustang. This is the first time I've seen you dip the roof.

Kevin the last heavy coat re liquified all the layers underneath, and allowed it to cut smooth and clean.
I like the look of the thin stripes the tape made. Great project.
The car looks great! It would be nice if you add a couple of clips of the parts that didnt go according to plan so we can learn from them. I noticed in the front bumper and the back mustang seal things got a little messed up. ;)
What they don't mention is always use a pressure washer to keep that clean 😉😁👌🏻
Awesome video fonzie!
Thanks!

12:50 Did you skip because you made a little mistake haha :)
No its just a weird angle... I say 1 year late.
@@kylerholowaty3814 no, he did make a few mistakes which can clearly be seen in the video. No angle tricks going on.
13:34 looks like over spray got on the medallion bottom ... I wonder how you fix minor things like that?
@@notfound379 you rub it right off with a rag or your fingers.
Simply fantastic!!! Your painting job was clean and looks very great.
Makes me want to add stripes back to my 2013 5.O, Beautiful. Glad you guys did a stripe video

I want to do a red skinny stripe on the right side of my moms car ... Objective: get her mad

Yup I plastidip her emblems black .. She was like take that smit off

Looks amazing. Nice job!
What do you do if you get a paint spill from the tape coming off?
I love to see you paint a car then show us how you peal the paint off the hole car after you had it on for a bit . To show us how easy it is to put new pant on after you peal the old pant off .
I wish they had a high gloss. That looks like legit paint.
They do
J K they do
There is a glossifier coat. It's right on their site.
DipPearl TopCoat over the White would have added more shine. If you want an OEM look you'll want to take your vehicle to an AutoFlex Applicator
Glossifier doesn't come out like real clear.... just saying. It's nice but not like true clear shine.
Based on your experience , is it guaranteed that when peeling off the masking tape with last coat still being wet, that the few previous dried coats applied that was lapped on the tape and vehicle and the one under that the tape was applied on will not peel? even though the last coat is still wet while removing masking?
A simple laser line tool would have made that job easier.
Yep...
Ugh, it is taking so long to save up for my own kit! Cannot wait, though! My 4Runner is gonna look so much better
Can't wait to see it when you are finished!
Just what I was looking for. I want to remove the vinyl strips on my camero and paint new strips.
I hope u get 1 mil subs by this year
Do you need a dipped car for the stripes to adhere to? Or can I do the same thing on paint?
Ash PvP yeah, you can do the same on paint
Was wondering how you guys did racing stripes. Another beautiful video of course.
I manufacture a product very similar to this, it's called PloppyDip, and it's available in every shade of brown.
well done, but I thought you were going to put a 1/4 inch stripe around the 8 inch stripe. you've probably seen them on other vehicles. But it looks very good. Thanks for the video.
Looks flawless..... Wow..... Awesome job Fonzy....
Great video. My WRC inspired 2017 RAV4 will be getting black hood stripes soon. Thanks again for another great video.
at first i thought it was gunna look lame but danggggggg... looks freakin awesome !!
One big like from Brazil
I really like this dip , you did a fantastic job there 👍🏻 MASTERPIECE ‼️
This looks really great. I give your a five.
Omg she's beautiful. That stain white is gonna be a great base for what I want!!!!
I don't like racing strips, but that looks amazing.
If I want a shiny finish on my stripes, would I follow the same process, and peel tape on the last wet clear coat? I feel like at that point, there may be too many layers, and the lines wouldn't come out sharp.
Yes, always after your last coat
I am about 98% confident in my decision to buy a plastidip kit. the only hesitation I have is regarding the staining that some people have experienced. What causes this? why does it happen? there is very little info on the forums or fb except that it's only nissans (but I've seen subarus and mercs affected) and to use grey/white as a base first. makes me nervous
MrTwenty6 you simply want to have a neutral base color like white or gunmetal over a white OEM car.
A deep polish should fix it.
Not if the plastidip color has attacked the basepaint through the top clear. Because then you have to polish through the top clear and into the base paint.
A ok I see.
MrTwenty6 I did my tail lights with 5 coats and couldn't peel it off and when I took my masking tape off it peeled on the sides, Idk lol he makes it look so easy xc
Well done is always creative in your work and honest I am a staunch follower of you for Saudi Arabia 💕

ChangeHumanity I rolled down just to see if someone else notice this. Ure the first out of a dozen 😂
I would expect at least 50 100lb arm-blaster curls, just before the next video
I was wondering if, because you didn't lay a top coat or a clear coat over the stripes, they will eventually begin to chip or peel overtime. Have you seen this before and would you recommend laying a top coat?
the stripes wont react any differently than the rest of the dip.
This ^
Chip? Its dip man, not paint. And it will settle and adhere just like any other dip.
That measurement process with the envelope is smart as fuck!! I would've eyeballed it haha
Are these dipyourcar videos or watch fonzie's gym progress videos?
that is beautiful... but how long will it last on the vehicle? is it safe to wash it?
It is safe to wash, Fonzie demonstrated it on another video. Also it lasts for a long time, some people's dips have lasted for years and still looks fresh.
As long as the product has cured long enough it is safe to hand wash, use a pressure washer, or take through a car wash!
it's just like painting the whole car
Black stripes would have been nice on this car. Great video, very informative... Thanks.
Ov my gosh I was wondering if you could do this!! Now im REALLY excited to get my mustang!! Bought a 2005 and i want the stripes. I know I'm late, but I'm so glad you have this video still. 👌

can you use this process to do strips on a none dipped car?
Kevin Champion yes
You can just make sure you put down about 5 coats of dip for the stripes otherwise you'll need dip remover because the dip will be too thin to peel.
my favorite dyc job so far!
Quick question, how would plasti-dip work on a car like a '69 Chevy Nova? how long do you have to let each coat settle before applying the next coat? 1st then 2nd then 3rd?
I've been jumping from video to video of his trying to decipher this mystery as well. The closest I've gotten is when he did some similar striping, the camo job, and he laid down a pretty wet coat, 2 or 3 coats-worth, let it dry "completely" then laid a final 2 to 3 coats-worth of wet then immediately peeled the tape. While you're letting the PDS white coat dry for 24 hours, why did you leave the masking on? Won't that peel the edges along the windows and such when you go to remove it after it's been on for that long?

Mike Harkins not a car. rear sets on a motorcycle. I didn't realize my boot rubbed on certain parts.
Laser liner helps alot with doing stripes 👍🏻😉
After you spray 4 coat white then two coat of pearl, did you spray a clear coat?or when did you spray clear coat?
It came out so nice
Super clean
