    The 115s are solid. I bought one and have been running it all summer. Starts on the first crank and tops the boat out at 43 MPH no issues.

    Glad you are having good luck with it... That sensor in the air box is the air temp sensor. You can just twist the whole sensor about 90 degrees and it will pop out of the air box still connected to the lead. Just don't want you to break that delicate wire connector unplugging it from the sensor. I haven't worked on these things since they came out so don't know if NGK makes and acceptable equivalent for the original Champions. The plugs should be indexed even on your engine. This is a royal pain to do because some plugs won't index properly when correctly torqued. You sure don't want to overtighten the plug (or leave it loose) to index the plugs properly. But yeah, the plugs are an issue in these things for sure, and expensive. Keeping that fuel clean and free from water is key, like you say. Don't forget to check the oil tank for water annually as well. The oil pressure sensor doesn't know the difference between oil and water!

    That part that is connected to the 'silencer' is the air temperature sensor that sends that data to the ECU.

      No it's the mass airflow sensor. It reads how much air goes into the cylinders

      @@SwishRecordsInc "Life's Adventures" was correct. It is an air temp sensor.

    I have a 99 115. Same as yours. You should be running Champion 7712 plus. .30 gap
    You covered most of what keeps these alive. Premium fuel, change fuel filter yearly, plugs every 2 years, and run a high quality synthetic oil like XD 100 or amsoil hp marine

      Repair any compromised wires, and make sure none of them (including battery cables) are routed near any moving parts (shift/throttle linkages) make sure all connections are tight.

      @@ryanfavreau6767 so after looking at the motor once I got it out of the water I found that there's a fuel leak on one of the lines it was leaking on to the spark plug wires causing it to burn computer wires seems to be ok but all the spark plug wires are done.

      @@kenwatkins5660 You can make a "fine adjustment" of the shift cable where it enters the motor (on the right side, take the little cover off). If that doesn't work, the shift rod (that goes down to the gearcase) may be bent or the two o-rings "gunked up" (pushing down shifts into reverse). I had all three on my 115

    If you would index your plugs they would last longer it's whole reason for indexing if the gap don't face the injector they foul...on top of that you will have a carbon problem...anyway that's why your plugs don't last!

    • @addismultitasking3504
      @addismultitasking3504  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do index the plugs, but you have to buy 10 of them and use the ones that line up the closest
