Fellow here (FCAS) and I qualified long before you were born so, as you can appreciate, I know a lot of actuaries. And I mean a lot. And without a word of exaggeration I can count the number of them who never failed an exam on the fingers of one hand. Don't let the occasional "blip" in your progress discourage you. Just keep plugging away and you'll get there.
Paige, exams can be stressful, so it is not too surprising that you have problem with acne. I got very stressed around exams and my skin developed acne whenever I was nervous.
Thank you for vlogging despite acne, I suffer too and it can be debilitating. Your vulnerability is admirable!
I’m 28 and have been suffering from acne for about 15 years. As a teen I was so self conscious because my skin was never perfect. My acne is not severe like it used to be, probably due to my age, it doesn’t bother me that much and I don’t cover it with makeup 😅 I kind of gave up hope that it will go away completely but who knows haha

I just want to say I appreciate you still filming even if your skin showed signs of stress. My skin isn’t perfect and I usually feel insecure, because my friends and colleagues don’t go through the same thing. So, watching you being real and looking nice, as usual, is refreshing! It's also exam season for me and it's somewhat comforting to know even someone like you who went to Cambridge has the same anxieties and worries as me when it comes to exam taking xd (although I'm pretty sure you did fine!!)

When you said that only 5 mins before the exam I started feeling nervous. I hate that last min before the exam feeling. I start running around the house when nervousness kicks in to calm down.

Hey Paige, I'm so sorry for your loss. The actuarial exams are not easy and most people fail at least once... I really hope you haven't (and you never truly know until December) but know that if you have it's not the end of the world... The exams are a lot easier a second time around! Things have a habit of making a lot more sense.
I've failed a few exams already but still plugging away and with a new company now who provide more support!

I feel you, question the decision to sign up to more exams after uni but they're definitely worth it. Hopefully they went okay! I'm two years into ACA CTA exams and can't wait to finish them off!
Know how you feel. I sat cs1 this sitting and I'm too scared to even count how many marks I attempted because id rather remain in blissful ignorance. Don't worry about it until results day!!!
Same i also sat CS1 this September attempt and and I found it quite lengthy and difficult.....as the result is approaching the tension is building up more

Why did you study physics to end up in actuarial science?

Probably, the advanced mathematics. Instead of winding up as a school teacher living paycheck to paycheck, she can market her carefully honed math and data analysis skills in the corporate world and with better compensation. She and her family have probably invested a lot of resources, meaning money and time, into her university degree.
A degree in Natural Sciences can open opportunities in the academic field and research. However, those are very scarce and competitive job posts. She would probably have to keep studying for years until she finishes her Ph.D. to have a shot.
She liked physics but the job market for it isn’t great so she decided to pursue another career which requires some of the skills she acquired in her degree instead. She talks about it in some of her past vlogs
@Nicky L, ok, maybe a science teacher doesn't live paycheck to paycheck there, but her compensation will be better in the corporate world.
@Nicky L. For sure, it is just the ability to pass the exams. They probably go after a whole bunch of literature and social studies students who graduated top of their classes. Those people who are great at passing the exams, but haven't seen a number in years.
Actuarial degrees don't mean you can only work in that area. There are opportunities in related areas such as finances, investment banking, and any other that involves risk assessment, etc.
paige you know about context switching and that it takes certain amount of time before your brain can do it. May I suggest in the future don't vlog the day until you finished the exam? Good luck and remember you can always resit so don't be to hard on yourself.

That's not my subject that really is hard. Maths like that I wouldn't stand a prayer in. Medieval German to modern German translation that's the hardest subject I've ever attempted I daren't even put myself in for it then. I was studying at Uni Cologne at the time. I've studied all over the place. I had a minor there in German but it was the exam for native speakers of German. Latin to German translation I had to do as well but it was easier than that. The old Magister Artium 5 year degree in Cologne was like your degree indeed the drop out rate was a third. I'm glad I studied on it because it really added value to me as a person being permitted to study what you do at Cambridge. I wasn't thrown off it either. I just decided to move on. It depends on the author Medieval German Hartmann von Aue I find fiendish, but the opening of Das Nieblunglied and even a bit of Tristan isn't too bad. Musicology, with minors in English and German is what I started with them. I just ended up being a frat member and enjoying it. I got an MA in EFL because I taught that but I never completed a BA and they don't want me in the door wherever I go in the UK now because they'll have to eat their hat if I get one. I am capable of it. Thankfully, a German college have taken me seriously for Audio Engineering and Music Production and I still have the option of doing up to a PhD with them. I still would like something in Creative Writing from Oxbridge though we'll see. A short course maybe, we'll see how it goes. I've got enough on my plate reverb right now!
Plan 1: Acne up for the upcoming Halloween, because money dosn't grow on trees. Plan 2: Figure out what star constellations appears if you draw a line between the dots of acne, and say it's for research purposes and it's sponsored.
