- Although this video is how to install the high kick spoiler on the Q50, this installation process goes for essentially any spoiler being installed on any car.

@@mrnon0z because between the two cars the Q50 has a longer life span to Maintenance ratio compared to the OverEngineered Peace of shit that the 3 series is.
(Already on my second N54 engine) and now I’m looking to get the q50 respectfully

You might want to invest in some ceramic coating and apply 4-5 coats to the Carbon. Sun will damage it. Experienced it myself with the carbon bits on my Q. Looks really nice 👌
Yep talked about that in the video. May do ceramic for a temporary solution, but will likely do clear film

Just ordered some z1 test pipes and rear spoiler hydro dipped in carbon fiber and front lip hydro dipped also plus a few other things.

@@SpeedCultureStudios question do you know what would be a good mid section y pipe replacement for after market? Not the y pipe to the test pipes but the one that connects the muffler.

@@SpeedCultureStudios I brought some 3m super strength molding tape from AutoZone , the left corner lifted up the first time after installation . Brought some more tape and tried it again today , any tips to fix it from lifting up after installing if it happens again ?

Hey J, just bought this, waiting for warmer weather before install But my car is waxed & ceramic coated. Is mineral spirit prep all i need or do you recommend further prep , thanks as always for the content and info. U r THE go to guy for my Q fiddy.

Yeah I would just do mineral spirits personally. Make sure the surface of the spoiler is cleaned up good too!

I got damage on my trunk right at the rim where the spoiler will sit do you think the duckbill can cover it up?
It covers more area than most spoilers.
I am going to a dealership tomorrow to have a look at a 2015 vq37 AWD with 40k on it. Being mid 2020 is this still a good choice over a 2016 or 2017 with more milage on it ?
Still a great choice. More and more horror stories popping up about the 3.0t

Im looking to get a new spoiler but my Q has the OEM spoiler on it :( I believe it leaves holes in the trunk if removed.

It's just 3m 1/2" double sided tape like you would find at home depot.

I hand wash but it’ll hold if you prep the surface properly

Held up great. That tape is excellent. If surface is prepped well, it won’t come off

No, it was after market, but was sort of an oem style, low profile spoiler.
Do I need to screw it down or can I just use the tape that came with it ?
No screws needed
Does the tape mess up the paint of the car when you remove it ??
No not if you remove it properly.

I bought a spoiler from amazon that said it fit all q50 models but it's an inch too big. Anyone have a link to one that will fit a 2015 q50 premium
How are car washes with that spoiler
Seeing as how I was the car by hand and never take vehicles through automatic washes, it handles them pretty well haha. But seriously, if proper prep is done and tape is applied correctly, it should not come off in an automatic car wash
I have the OEM spoiler on mine. I want to put on a different spoiler but the OEM one is bolted on and the holes wouldn’t be covered up with the one I want. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Depending on the color of he car, people have used "plastic" dowels to fill spoiler holes. Color-matched bumper plugs have been used, but those are noticeable on a decklid. I'm sure there are videos showing ideas.

Just received the first option and it doesn't flat even on my q50. You think with the 3m tape it will hold it down or return? I have about an 1/8 " gap
Make sure you have it lined up properly. If it still doesn’t fit, I would return it personally

How long is the cure time?
I always suggest to let it sit for a couple of hours before driving. Try to keep it out of rain for 24 hours. If you install during the winter months, I’d suggest keeping it in the garage as long as possible up to 24 hours. I mean a couple hours in a warm garage should be good enough in cold temps, but if you have the time use it.

What's the point of the tab? why not just take off all the red cover off and put it on all at once?
I’m not really sure what the point of the tab is to be honest. Probably directional indicator or something to prevent rotation in the pocket. I just like to put things back together the same way they came apart. I don’t know what you mean by take all the red cover off...

275/35/19 rear 255/40/19 front
OK Kool but y 35 in the rear and 40 front.... I got a 2014 255/35/20 front and 40 rear keep gettin that message. Do you no if this will hit the engine or tranny.
@@robertwashington6575 because a 275/35 rear would be way taller than a 255/45 in the front. Try to keep them as close in overall diameter as possible.
If you’re awd, yes it has a potential to cause issues if the front and rear diameters don’t match
Yeah I used the tape they gave me and it was shit. Peelin off in a week

@@SpeedCultureStudios yep gonna hit it with goo gone and alcohol. Then the 3m tape with maybe a couple dabs of 3m emblem adhesive?
@@jayou1987 I would stay away from goo gone actually. It can hinder adhesion. Alcohol or mineral spirits work best

Nice Video Man. So if I install a spoiler will it damage the paint at all upon removal?
No it really shouldn’t. Just make sure the paint is clean and free of debris before you install and if you choose to remove it later, take your time and be careful.

Awesome Thank you! Just picked up a 2018 Q50 with only 61k on it the other day. Wanna make it my own. But don't know what spoiler to get yet. Last Question to remove you just gently pry it off with your hands as you did in the previous video? Or would you recommend putting something under the spoiler such as a card of some sort to loosen the adhesive? Appreciate the helpful info in advance
@@johnathanalfaro873 if you leave it out in the hot Sun or use a heat gun to soften the adhesive your can work it off slowly.
