Wonderful, THANKS! A great hack for newbies especially, to keep your seams straight - make a “ledge” with masking tape: pile up strips of tape, I use 8-10, and place from needle towards you to end of sewing extension table. This forms a ledge to abutt your fabric against and keeps your seam uniform.
I'm new here ... hello! I watched this video back in Jan/ Feb. wanting a pattern for a quilt for my soon to be born grandchild. Thank you so much for the free pattern. I used a farm theme jelly roll I got off Etsy because my daughters nursery was a farm theme. I finally finished the lap size quilt the end of July. I was distracted for a few months and didn't get to work on it. My grandson loves the quilt and he does tummy time on it. I just want to say I have been watching so many videos on your channel and I just love your company. I finally decided today to subscribe to your channel. If I ever have a question about anything to do with sewing, I just look up one of your videos. Thank you so much for being so kind and offering the free patterns!
Kimberly, you make it look SEW easy! 😂😂😂 I think I will start with a Jelly Roll Jam quilt. Since the quilt uses precut strips I won’t get anxious about making a mistake in cutting and wasting fabric. That causes HUGE procrastination on my part. HUGE as in years! 😱😱😱 Now my biggest problem will be selecting the perfect fabric bundle from Fat Quarter Shop’s massive selection! I better just dive right in!
You should also look into sewing one of the quilt kits put together by FatQuarterShop. They always pick great fabrics and they include lots of extra fabric so you can’t possibly run out of fabric. Go sew something today!
I love Heather's designs!! I am anxiously waiting for my fat quarter bundle to arrive so I can see her fabrics in person. I am also looking forward to the BOM. I can't wait to see what is next!
The scraps from the corner cut off make a super cute secondary block, a double pinwheel. Just thought I would throw that out there. Sew the white triangle to the colored triangle and lay out in a four patch to form the double pinwheel.
Love this pattern!! Love that it's another great way to use jelly rolls. I didn't even notice the pinwheel until you pointed it out and now I can't unsee it!!!! Thank you for being so generous with your free patterns, they are appreciated and used more than you know!
Thank you so much for this video tutorial and free pattern! I enjoy watching your channels while I cross-stitch and quilt along with you. You’re great company 😊
I have been waiting for Kimberly to share what she uses for startch! Thanks!!! I love everything about FQS, great selection, consistent quality, great tips, great videos and can't beat the free patterns.
Yay, Kimberly! I love this series and it is great to have a FQS video that is strictly a tutorial. I love this jelly roll pattern! FQS and Kimberly are the best which is why I pretty much exclusively buy from FQS. The only time I don’t is if for some reason FQS does not have the product I need. FQS and It’s So Emma patterns are my favorites because they are the best patterns I have found. Many thanks for the free patterns. It is appreciated so much!!
I have just discovered your channel as I watched you make a quilt top and you had sped up the video. I really enjoyed it and will be watching more. Thanks from Australia.
Thank you so much! I have an illness and I need quick patterns that are still beautiful that I can make quickly. Newport looks like a gorgeous fabric line and would work well for a man quilt too!
Brilliant tutorial as always. I have two jelly rolls of a fabric line that are driving me mad. I have ruined one, but there is now hope for the other :)
Thank you for another great pattern. I make charity lap quilts for a local memory care center and the crib size is perfect for what they want. I will be using the Celestial Jr Jelly Roll from the December sew sampler box. I cannot wait to make it.
Thank you for your free patterns. I am new to quilting, so these simple quilt patterns and tutorials are so beneficial. Thank you for all you stand for as well as all you do.
Most babies see in color at about 2 moths of age; some parents-to-bw don't reveal the gender until after the baby's birth. This way you can gave a few as backup gifts. I usually sew a quilted rectangle for the "carrying around" quilt; 12"x12" or 10"x12" of the same fabric & pattern!
I was thinking the same thing! Maybe she didn't do that to keep it on the beginner level. And you have all those left over pieces from the end of the strip sets, too!!
Great pattern! Would look good in almost any jelly roll. Am thinking baby quilt in cute nursery fabric. I am making lots of baby quilts and blankets in flannel. Would you also starch the flannel fabric? Thanks for all your tutorials. They are a wonderful help and inspiration for all quilters.
Hello Linda! Yes, Kimberly starches all her fabrics including flannel. She hasn't used a flannel Jelly Roll before, so we can't share any tips for that!
Thanks for the quick answer. I was planning on using flannel yardage and cutting it into strips myself, so I would probably starch the yardage. Thanks for this pattern. It is simple but can look so different depending on the fabric choice. Infinite possibilities.
When you sew on the square could you also sew a quarter inch to the outside so you would also have a half square triangle that could be used on the back of the quilt or made into a table runner. I was thinking it would just be another quick step to create less waste in fabric.
You really should sew about a 1/2” to the outside to leave room for cutting between the stitching. This way each triangle has about a 1/4” seam. Great idea to use on back of quilt. I never thought of that. Thanks for the idea!
I’ve been watching your videos for some time, and I really appreciate the information you provide. While this is unimportant, I can’t stop myself from asking: what sort of accident happened to your left pinky finger? It must have been painful.
If you have fat quarters or yardage you want to use rather than jelly rolls for the sizzle, how many fat quarters or how much yardage would you need for say the lap quilt size?
Thank you so much for your ongoing support to quilters by offering free patterns.
Thank you Kimberly.
I so appreciate your multitude of free patterns. You all are so generous. This is a great spin on jelly roll quilts.
Ooh I

Super cute
Wow. I love this!! Thank you! Can’t wait to make this one!
I wish it had been made with “baby” fabric🤗
Most babies see in color at about 2 moths of age; some parents-to-bw don't reveal the gender until after the baby's birth. This way you can gave a few as backup gifts. I usually sew a quilted rectangle for the "carrying around" quilt; 12"x12" or 10"x12" of the same fabric & pattern!
Draw another angled line half inch on the trim side and sew on that line also. This will give you a bonus pieced block.
Yes! I always do this!
I was thinking the same thing! Maybe she didn't do that to keep it on the beginner level. And you have all those left over pieces from the end of the strip sets, too!!
Great to do this and make some blocks for the back or for a coordinated pillow!
I used those in the border!

Love it ❣️
Excellent. ❤
Ótimo projeto! Grata 🙏
Love the videos and patterns you offer! I shop at Fat Quarter Shop all the time, I can always find what I'm looking for!
Thanks so much for this pattern. Something I’m confident I can do as a beginner. Now for a Jelly roll. ❤️
This is such a great quilt pattern. Simple but with that wow factor. Thank you for putting it out there for free.
Thank you FQS
Thanks for all the free patterns! What weight thread does Kimberly use?
Hello Kent! Kimberly uses 50wt thread. In this video she used 50wt Light Sand 2000 - bit.ly/3etOU3b

Lori Holt calls those Bonus patches for a Bonus quilt! She also has some she hasn't sewn & uses them as leaders & enders, to save thread!
Love it
I’ve been watching your videos for some time, and I really appreciate the information you provide. While this is unimportant, I can’t stop myself from asking: what sort of accident happened to your left pinky finger? It must have been painful.
Yaaayyyyy!
Easy peasy.
😊
Can you make it into a king size quilt?
Hello G! Yes, you can make it into a king size quilt if you add more blocks. However, we do not provide that size option.
I use Fresh Press rather than an aerosol. Does it stretch the fabric also?
Hello Neva! Yes, Best Press will cause fabric to shrink.
I can’t seem to download this can you give me a heads up on how to get it printed out
Hello Teresa! The download is available here: bit.ly/3hb6BG5 If you are still having issues please email service@fatquartershop.com
