  • Kuryakyn's Sound Bar made in conjunction with MTX is easily the best sounding and most low profile choice for music on your motorcycle. It doesn't just fit Harley Davidson's either. Mount it up to your Indian, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, or any other 12 volt system that you can think of. Own a 4 wheeler? Wish it had music? Check the video to hear what 300 watts of power sounds like!

      NBT 3 it happens to all of us. When I got on my first bagger I was like WTF have you been thinking dummy!!! Never looked back. I ride 40,000mi year round border to border and ocean to ocean and party my ass off every chance I get. Nothing compares to the geezer glide for comfort and ride quality.

    • @richardedwin5980

      Ironic you say that. I had a sportster, went to a bagger for 2 years, and went back to a sportster. I was comfortable on the bagger on long trips but I could never get to comfortable on it around town and the weight was always a bit much. Luckily for me I got rid of the bagger and didn't lose as much money as I thought I would have.

    • @richardedwin5980
      @richardedwin5980 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jacob James as far as riding around town a little bar hopper like a sporty is fine. But if you wanna log any miles a bagger is the only way to go. I ride 30-40K miles a year and will ride nothing but and have had the sporty, Dyna and Softail. Nothing like a bagger when it comes to comfort and everything else.

    I love music almost as much as my M8 Road Glide. When I listen to music on the bike I listen through a $60 set of earbuds.
    I love my eardrums, too, and years of riding through the wind has taken its toll. Besides, I really don't like to pull up to or along side a vehicle that has a sound system thumping and blaring in everyone's ears.

    With FF helmet, helmet speakers are by far your best option. I ride with earplugs anyway, was stupid enough for long enough to ride without them, and now have mild tinnitus. With earplugs and good helmet speakers, you get best of both worlds - reduced wind noise, and good sound.

    Interesting, I’ve never considered fitting anything like that to my bike, until now! I do prefer to ride without music most of the time but I’m also with you on the opinion that there’s a time and a place for music sometimes and I love to listen to music when riding sometimes. Thanks for the review man.

    I have run a board on sound systems on a bike... Started out with ear buds and a Walkman.. ran the earbud wire inside my shirt and Velcro the Walkman to the tank dash divider... After all these years of XM and handlebar speakers and touring built ins with amps and speaker upgrades...I am nearly back where I started.. I use the Harley wired headset and get along fine at any speed...

    Had one for almost two years now on my 2017 Softail (no fairing), over 20k miles. You can hear it great at slow speeds. At high speeds, with a 1/2 or 2/4 helmet, it is almost useless. One thing you didn't mention is that how well the music is mastered is a great factor; older CD's copied to your phone will provide a sound that is not too great. It looks great on my ride and am pleased with it.

    • @TheHarleyTech
      @TheHarleyTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The one you have is the older 150w version, too. This is the new 300w. Honestly, I didn’t even think about folks copying music to their phone. I’ve been rocking iTunes/pandora/Spotify for so long I didn’t even think about that! You are 100% correct, though!

    I bought the JBL cruise speakers for my bike after seeing it on youtube . Great sounding even at 70mph +/- without a windshield. But then after being on for more than 2 hours continuously at max volume it started clipping and getting really hot and then it went into protection mode and turned itself off. Disappointed with the speakers. Decided to just mount an use it on the Honda Ruckus scooter. Bought me a Shoei NeoTech II and that's the best investment I made for tunes and protection. Always great to see your reviews John.

    I wear ear buds. Picked up a good set of high quality studio level ear buds got a deal at 40 bucks and it keeps my pipes from blowing out my ears and I can listen to podcasts or music with no issues with my full face or half helmet. I dig these speakers but I thought it would make the front end look too busy and I couldn't afford it. For the budget friendly man a good set of ear buds and protect your hearing and allow for good audio listening while still being able to hear traffic and your bike. Great video sir.

    Is it better than utilizing a helmet communication system like the Cardo or Sena?
    Different strokes, same money. I've had a stereo on my Triumph TrophySE, and I liked it, but sound quality is better with the headphones/ear buds. That drawback is the surrounding sounds get pushed pretty far back.
    Just curious about your perspective.

    Wow,,,,where do I start? Good video and although I have a 2019 Road Glide Special,,,,I rarely listen to radio, maybe on a lonely road on a long trip. I feel a loud radio in the city or at a stop light is an invasion of someone else's privacy,,(some cage drivers and pedestrians hate us enough already) saw a biker yesterday on his Yamaha 650, cut off pipes, revving the engine, a small add on radio blasting wide open fuzzy music through bad speakers mounted on his handlebars, people eating at an outside restrauant covered their ears! Also a lot going on, with all the buttons to push with hands off controls and eyes off the road.

    What I don’t get is have speakers when you already have the Sena system on your helmet...
    I typically use some ear plugs and the Sena on top. So I get some hearing protection in longer rides and still can hear the music inside the helmet.

    Thanks for the video. Have been eying this speaker for a couple of months but hadn't seen any reviews on it. Saw a lot of reviews on the 150 watt speaker that stated at highway speeds there were sound issues. Looks like you removed your windshield bag. Was wondering if there is I way to mount it and keep the bag. I have the same model bike and use the bag a lot.

    • @TheHarleyTech
      @TheHarleyTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was pretty bummed about the bag. My handlebar/clutch cable routing is a bit of an issue for me. I think I can make it better, but everything got installed about 2 days before Daytona! I haven’t had time to revisit everything.

    Hey, great video, a friend of mine rides with a waterproof Bose speaker. Now if I may ask a question for your tech opinion. I’ve got an 08 Ultra Glide Classic, bought in January, in Buffalo, so it was stored. that the dealer just delivered the bike, Monday. Battery is nearly dead next day. Having a hard time getting it into neutral, and even when I start it with the clutch in the bike lurches forward. Yesterday there was smoke coming out of the left side of the engine behind the block. Definitely electrical. The dealers gonna pick it up. Any hear of anything like this?

  • @pelosishammer

    Good aftermarket exhaust AND tunes. I’ve just got the exhaust for now. But, I think I’ll hold out on the music until I get my FXR fairing for my 21 FXLRS. I miss my 14 Street Glide.

    That’s a good video, I always wondered about this speakers, Jhon did you have to take of the windshield bag/pouch to have room for the speaker, or you just did not need it any more?

    • @TheHarleyTech
      @TheHarleyTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Took it off for lack of room. I can probably adjust stuff, but I’m starting with that extra long clutch cable...

    Been riding since I was 14 on mini bikes never had a bike with anything in my ears or head other than the air and exhaust. Just turned 68 bought a used 2014 Rushmore Road King, don’t need tunes to make my ride enjoyable. Love my new/used bike had a 2005 Road King Classic for 9 Years it was time for an upgrade.

    The amount of bikes that come in right at ride season is nut. If I need shop time for crap I don't want to do, I take it in around November when inspection is about due, no rush, no hurry up.
    I enjoy the exhaust and the wind myself.

      I do use a go pro. Normally set with linear view, but I goofed on this one and had to crop it. Trial and error finally got my frame right. Sometimes I’ll use the app/my cell phone to check framing if I need to.

    • @TheHarleyTech
      @TheHarleyTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, the cell phone screen. I need a pair of touch screen friendly gloves. Tried to buy a set on the way to Daytona, but no one in the dealership would talk to me. I don’t go out of my way to spend money! I would have lost my employee discount and no one even said hello. I’ll just order a pair and save $20. 😂

    I sell Harley’s at Iron Eagle Harley Davidson in IL. I took a 2019 FLTRXS out that we put a 4speaker Rockford Fosgate system(2 new front and 2 installed lid speakers/amp). The difference between 55mph and 80mph is significant. Cost was around 2g installed. I think someone could do lowers if they wanted all the sound after 35-50mph.
