  • Welcome to my channel! This is Andy from I love languages. Let's learn different languages/dialects together.
Special Thanks to Puta de mòrt :D
Languedocien is an Occitan dialect spoken in rural areas of southern France like Languedoc, Rouergue, Quercy, Agenais, and Southern Périgord. It is a basis for Standard Occitan due to its central position among Occitan dialects. Around 10% of Languedoc's population is fluent in Languedocien, with an additional 20% having some understanding of the language.
Gascon, on the other hand, is an Occitan variety spoken mainly in Gascony, France. It's considered a variety of Occitan by some and a distinct language by others. Gascon is spoken in Gascony, Béarn, and parts of Catalonia, with Aranese being a southern Gascon variety spoken alongside Catalan and Spanish in Catalonia.

El gascón comparte con el castellano un mismo fenómeno: la transformación de la f latina inicial por la letra h.

Eso es, supuestamente, debido al sustrato vascónico, teniendo en cuenta que ambos se desarrollaron en zonas donde antaño se hablaba vasco. El aragonés no presenta este rasgo en concreto, pero también tiene influencia del euskera.

Could you do a video on Russenorsk? Its a pidgin language between Russian and Norwegian that was used by Norwegians and Russians for trade, only around 400 words of it have been preserved but its still a very interesting language😁

For anyone wanting more information on this:
Its based on Norwegian and has only one preposition(på). It went extinct in the 20th century though traces of it can still be found in some modern Northern Norwegian dialects. Vocabulary was mostly derived from Norwegian(50%) and Russian(40%) with other loanwords from German, French, English, Kven, Sámi as well as some other languages making up the 10% extra
A conversation was actually written down in it in 1891, here is a part of it:
      The Russian(R): Strasvi! (Good day!)
The Norwegian(N): Kak jou snakka? (What are you talking about?)
R: Moja vil snakka paa tvoja. Moja vil kopum hos tvoja. (I want to talk with you. I want to buy from you.)
N: Kak jou kopum? (What do you want to buy?)
R: Fiska kopum? Kak staait? (I want to buy fish. What does it cost?
N: Pæt vaaga mokka paa staa fiska. (Five "vaag"(Old mesurement used in Norway, corresponds to roughly 18kg) flour for 100 fish).
(Aa corresponds to modern Norwegian Å)

It’s kinda like how language/dialects are in China I think sense to the Chinese government they are classified as dialects of Chinese yet most of the “dialects” can not be understood or at the very least you can heard words here and there but not the whole sentence that’s what I think but I could in all right be wrong

@@brian0902It's kind of like that, excelt Languedocien and Gascon are much closer to each other than e.g. Cantonese and Mandarin. The vast majority of linguists consider the different Chinese "dialects" separate languages (mostly since there almost not mutually intelligible at all in their spoken form), whereas I think there is a majority viewing Gascon as a divergent dialect of Occitan (but I could be wrong on that)
