it confused Dave because he is a genuine person who looks past the materialism. You can telll Dave was RAISED differently. We need more people like this in the world!

It was a proud full judgmental comment from David robinson, he should be embarrassed. It's the antithesis of Godly humility.

Players give up years of their lives to win a trophy. That was their goal in life.

At least MJ earned his first ring through blood, sweat, and tears going through the trials and tribulations of the Detroit Pistons. And then LeBron James teamed up with two top 5 picks from his own 2003 draft class to stack the deck and win cheap rings.

I agree. But you got to give Lebron some due - that 2016 championship was legit especially Cleveland coming back from down 3-1 to beat one of the all-time great teams.

I don't know what this video had to do with LeBron, but now that you mention him:
At least LeBron won rings without the need of a specific coach or specific best teammate. LeBron is the common denominator for all of his rings, Jordan is only 1/3 with Pippen and Phil for all of his. LeBron also made the finals in 07 with none of the coaching or players he won rings with, where as Jordan never saw round 2 without Pippen, and never saw a finals without Phil.

How embarrassing to defend that behavior & to bring LBJ into the conversation. The Admirals point went right over your head. It’s sad literally.

It's crazy to think that someone is criticizing you for hugging a trophy. Something that you worked all your career to attain. Every athlete wants to win a championship. Wild how someone is critical of how a person chooses to celebrate winning. I never knew David Robinson was like this towards Jordan. Idk if there was some back history between them or what but at least on the court they respected one another.

Not really. We, as fans, expect great players to have that incessant drive to win championships when most of them simply want to be a good player and make a great great living. Not all have or want that hall of fame/championship drive, which on some levels, can be considered a form of insanity. We complain about Zion, but maybe he doesn't want to have that drive. Just maybe the championship means more to fans than it does to a kid who has millions and loves to eat. We somehow think something is wrong with him. He's normal but probably at times feels he's cursed with insane talent and damned by other's expectations.
It's funny how we don't realize how insane champions are. My wife told me I should try to get on a professional BBQ circuit. My response to her was, do you know how insane most of those people are? After a long cook, sometimes I feel like I don't want to smell smoke again for the rest of my life. Many of those guys have to smell it almost daily to become a champion. That's insane! I just want to enjoy life.
I'm a Tar Heel, and a huge MJ fan. But he's insane! Thank God he is, though.>

I never did like Jordan's reactions to winning. His teammates would run to him, but instead of embracing the guys that fought the fight with you, he would hold up his number 1 fingers and basically pull away from them.
      It was all about him.

He doesn't understand because the expectations were totally different between the 2 . Before the 1st chip Jordan won every individual award there was . After losing in the playoffs yr after yr . the noise was scoring champs don't win chips. All the hard work especially what he went through in those tough Pistons series had paid off . Jordan did it for himself, but also for his parents which was one of the reasons for his emotions finally winning the chip

David made a great point. 1. The trophy doesnt have any real value. 2. why doesnt the rest of the team get to hug the trophy for 15 minutes?... it was a really selfish act.

    • @mainetain15
      @mainetain15 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

David made a great point but your point is way off.
U act like MJ snatched the trophy from the commissioner and ran off to back by his self and slap ppl like Will Smith if they touched it. Entire team celebrated with trophy at podium and in back like every other team, celebrated with champagne party like every other team. They already had champagne hugs amongst each other
David's point was the trophy being a materialistic and thinking players would only be emotional with each other
The media is the one that highlighted that moment with MJ the trophy and his dad. Why becuz MJ had already accomplished all the individual goals u can possibly achieve.
It was a climb the mountain moment for the current best player they said couldnt win the big one.
He was told he could never win leading the league in scoring as a guard like the teams before him usually won. MJ is human, and emotional just like the rest of us. It wasnt the trophy but symbolism the the trophy carried that made him sit and have that moment.
Just like he did we he won on fathers day after his father died. What did he hug then... The 🏀 . The symbolism is what David is not missing from his point.
For the record. Mr. Robinson should also now go back at look at his first championship. The pics are not different, he surely was loving that same trophy having the same moment as MJ😂 JUST GOOGLE IT😂

People shouldn't confuse DR and MJ different personalities and personal visions. They are close friends and business partners to this day. They even work together with some charities. Its known they sometimes criticized each other, but always respectfully. These men know each other 35 years now. That's a lifetime.

oh please, sounds like he's jealous to me. He could have picked a better analogy if he wants to stand up on his soap box and preach to the masses. Jordan worked hard to achieve that trophy. Robinson can't see this? He wants everyone to celebrate the same way??? bullshit!

This was MJ’s goal…to win a championship. People were saying over and over again how he would never be able to win, especially as a scoring champ. I get Robinson’s point of view and he is not MJ. Jordan had to bust his butt for years to arrive at that victory stand and more power to him (and yes, he was and almost certainly still is a major league jerk). As so many ex-players, sportscasters, writers and fans can attest, MJ is still the GOAT. Amazing how after being retired for over 20 years, he got the biggest ovation at the 75th All-Star Game top 75 presentation (in Cleveland no less, LBJ’s back yard). I admire Kareem, Wilt was a freak of nature and so on. In reality, the GOAT debate is probably pretty dumb as subjectivity mixed with selection of facts in an argument makes an ultimate conclusion impossible.

This is reasonable yet you proceeded this with:
      "MJ is still the GOAT"
So you rendered your own notion invalid.

The same thing when Jordan literally fought with Randy Brown (of all people) over the trophy on the ground after he came back and won the chip after his first retirement… hyper-cringe… if after everything you don’t see Jordan for the egomaniac that he is, I can’t help you. Greatest player ever? Probably. Self-centered egomaniac? Unquestionably. Still a decent human? Probably.
But as a player, Jordan was always the bad guy to me.
