    I like how Alex is totally on form, whether he's driving through the Bay Area....or the Korean countryside. I'd be crazy nervous managing the traffic, signage and rules in a foreign land.

    American laws saying these sequential signals are hard to see and yet they allow red signals which are much harder to see than amber ones, logic
    Cmon, these turn signals look so nice and premium and they’re definitely easier to see than say a VW golf or Chevy Cruze incandescent red signal

    • @zacharyfernandez
      @zacharyfernandez 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      American laws also say you can’t import a car from other countries unless it’s 25+ years old for “safety reasons”. They once crushed a 2005 Land Rover Defender because it wasn’t old enough to enter the country apparently.

      We will ignore that the mustang had sequential taillights.

    • @itachii267

      andrew kennedy they are red sequential though aren't they?

    • @azera55555
      @azera55555 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      andrew kennedy they were allowed because they took up the whole taillight housing instead of a tiny portion

      What about Audi and Ford's sequential signals tho?

    I watch many other car reviewers on TH-cam and most are good in their own way. From humor, to entertaining, informative, witty, etc. However, imo AoA, is the absolute best in all of TH-cam.

      well, it is maybe sure in the west world but to really have a good review you need to listen one of the Russian reviews (I am not a Russian and barely understand their language now) where they really test cars in the field and list out any drawbacks and not just talk about stupid details which do not matters in real life. Maybe because they do not have adequate auto-moto industry?

    Koreans are amazing, they clearly closed the gap with the Japanese and give it a few years and they will close it with the Germans. Thanks for another great review.

    • @samsonokoro5036
      @samsonokoro5036 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Kutayba Alsafadi The Japanese are the best overall and going by sales in the automobile sector it proves it as well. The Germans and British have more performance oriented vehicles than the Japanese but in terms of build quality which is synonymous with reliability the Germans, British and other Europeans are far behind the Japanese. The Koreans are still far away from the Japanese and Germans that's the truth.

      Samson Okoro, look at the new camry. Recalled for uneven pistons in the engine that may lead to an explosion if not taken care of. That doesnt sound like japanese reliability to me...

    • @samsonokoro5036
      @samsonokoro5036 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's not a myth but pure fact, check the ratings. I come from a family that has owned more European cars from my childhood. My father had a previous generation s class while i was a teenager. I drove the s class times without number, and yes it was a great car with so much luxury but i know how it performed with maintenance. We also owned a Volvo, and i have driven several other Mercedes Benz, BMW to name a few. We also had a very close family family who owned the S class and owned the previous gen Lexus LS as well. The day he made the statement that his LS was better than the S class i was in shock. He said when it came down to electronics and reliability the Lexus blew the S class away. This is what German fanboys tell themselves, that if you maintain your Benz, BMW etc well enough you won't have problems. But when pitched against several others who own Japanese brands those who own the latter have better product satisfaction.
      Check consumer rating on reliability, Lexus and Toyota each year are no 1 and 2 respectively. Mercedes Benz didn't even make top 10 last year. Bmw was 9th while Audi made 5th or so. I grew up with Mercedes Benz and i'm a die hard fan but to me the brand has lost that wow factor with the excessive proliferation of models as if it's now Toyota. There;s a reason Toyota cars are the best sellers worldwide in almost every major segment. It's cause of reliability and durability and that is synonymous with build quality.

    • @alliejr

      I would not trumpet the high quality of Mercedes too loudly. I've owned 6 Mercs over the years and while 1990s vintage were well-made, the newer ones just are not. In fact, I'm _OFF_ Merc now because of a string of true lemons.

    • @ALMX5DP
      @ALMX5DP 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      rockn roll the E class you speak of has rear wheel drive and 2 liter engine. Add all wheel drive and or the 6 cylinder and that runs another 5-7 grand. Dont forget the K900 has about 7" more wheelbase and over 8" more length than an E class.

    • @MrKio415
      @MrKio415 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      rockn roll I would definitely doubt the maintenance price of Mercedes Benz. It's your money go ahead and spend it your way :) especially when something relates to computer of your Mercs, you'll scream like hell. Have you ever own K900 or Genesis? They are super easy to prepare, there's a thing called over-enginering, most of the folks doesn't need of cabin air quality sensor, rain sensitive wiper, ... K900 and Genesis overall only compare in value, what you will get for how much you pay (owning cost included). And if you work on your car, you'll definitely curse on how Germans design their car, been there, done that. Peace, you're lack of knowledge.

    I just went to the Mercedes USA site and pilled on options to a C-Class. It came out to 60K! (Non-AMG). No question which car gives you more. It's just a matter of how important the badge is to you.

    Wow, you really got a scoop on this car, so happy to see that :) I look for a car that is super super comfortable, modern in handling and ride, and under the radar and not shouting to everyone to look at me. This car looks like the jackpot 😀 The only car that slightly tempts me is the Lincoln Continental, hope you review it eventually. Thanks Alex, for an excellent review. What I like most in your reviews is the honesty and authenticity. You are not promoting a particular car or a brand, and you are not a paid artist. That gives us confidence to listen to you and trust what you say, as if we have examined the car and reviewed the car for ourselves. I am sure that many make their decisions based on your reviews one way or the other. I bought a Genesis 5.0 and very happy with that. Hearty congratulations for getting a reputation as one of the best reviewers on line !!

    Alex: Thank you for going to S. Korea to do this review! I watch all of your reviews and find them to be very helpful. We actually own one of the "original" K 900's that came here to the U.S., a 2015 model with the 420 hp V8 engine.
    I....was in the "car business" dealing in various brands over the years ....and have appraised literally thousands of vehicles. You tend to get jaded after a while.....and just about no vehicle gets your attention any longer. Our 2015.....DEFINITELY got my attention. In my opinion.....it is equally as good as a Lexus LS 460. It is super comfortable, super smooth, SUPER QUIET....and the dealer body backing it......is gigantic all over the country. Regardless....of what any owner's manual says.....I always us HIGH TEST fuel. Mostly Shell. and we get unbelievable gas mileage......not trying to....from this car. over 25 mpg. out of this big V8! That's driving 75 and 80 on the interstates along with local driving.
    Honestly.....I was hoping that the new K900 would be coming to America. Having been in the business, and knowing that the manufacturers DO watch your channel on TH-cam.....allow me to say this:
    *** I blame KIA USA.....for doing a terrible job or training their sales staffs THOROUGHLY on this vehicle. It's not a Soul.
    This car must be shown, and explained....in great detail.....just like a Benz or a BMW or a LEXUS. THAT'S NOT HAPPENING. They need not wonder WHY their sales numbers aren't better on the K900. It is 100% KIA's fault.....and I am a loyal Kia buyer. Time for serious education of their Sales Staffs around the country.....BY FACTORY TRAINERS. NOT local "Sales Managers". These are AMAZING cars. NO EXCUSES cars. They need to be shown as such,.
    2) NO K900 Ads! We are exposed to Lincoln ads....ad nauseum. BMW ads too. Lexus ads as well. CONSTANTLY.
    But over the past 3 years.....I have NEVER seen a K900 ad? How do you sell $60,000.00 vehicles......if they're invisible???
    And....they are. It's pathetic. If Kia wants to be in the $60,000.00 big leagues.....they are only 1/2 way there.
    The other half......IS A PROFESSIONAL AD CAMPAIGN to market this car.
    Thank you again for your great reviews!

    Great first test scoop Alex! Kia / Hyundai are up and coming and whilst still for some, still the object of derision, the day is not too far distant, where 'European Chic' brands will be genuinely battling the Korean giant/s for the hearts and minds of those for whom 'Badge Snobbery' is everything. The K900 category of car is rarely owned beyond three years & 'rolled over' for the latest model by corporate accountants. The value after three years is still four years warranty, which many private buyers still hankering after the big 'lux' car experience, will probably find enticing and one many will be happy to embrace. The tsunami of Kia/Hyundai exciting innovations continues apace. As an Australian, similar trends exist here as in North America. For context, we recently bought a Hyundai '18MY SR Turbo i30 Premium 201hp/AKA in The US & Canada as the Elantra GT Ultimate, and we, unlike some, value warranty & reliability above 'vanity' considerations.

    There is a video of Korean Spec K900 that can drive itself on the highway (mostly straight with some curves) at 100km/h for about 10 min without telling the driver to take their hands on the steering wheel (kind of like Autopilot). Also, just before entering a tunnel, GPS assisted tech automatically closes all the windows (interesting not the sunroof, I think engineers forgot) so you breathe clean air!

    I bought the previous generation K900 because of Alex on Autos recommendation. He said it was his favorite luxury sedan, so I went to the dealer for a test drive and drove out with one. It is still the best car I have ever driven and my favorite. I always say that I am never going to sell it. I don't like that the new one omitted the panoramic roof. Those rear vanity mirrors would have been better and cooler as Dolby Atmos surround speakers. I do like that they now locate the seat heater/cooler controls on the dash. On my car, I don't like that when you first enter, you have to lean forward and push start to trigger the seat to move forward to your preset position, because after you have your belt on and then lean forward too quickly, of course it locks, you can't reach the start button and your passenger is laughing hysterically. I like on Lexus, when you insert your seatbelt, the seat then moves forward. I also prefer my shifter design to the new one. I think the new one looks too bulky, plain and monolithic. I like the new steering wheel very much, since I am a person that likes to freeway drive at the bottom of the wheel. I do like my front end better than the new one, like Alex said. I think mine looks more aggressive, especially with my headlights, which if someone is admiring my car, they always seem to comment on them. Maybe if they would have raised the power bulge on the hood a fraction of an inch and had larger lower air intakes, it would have added the right amount of aggressive edge I think it needs. But I love my car and I have driven high end brands before, so I know what I'm talking about. I also would probably agree with Alex on the spring rate for the suspension. I know my K900 got knocked by reviews for being too Towncar-like, but I personally love it. It's like Brian Cooley said when he drove it. "It's like driving on a big fluffy cloud." But you have not lived until you mash on the pedal of a 5 liter V8 like mine that has won the Wards 10 best engines twice. Why do you think Alex drives a Hemi Durango?

    Part of me says before I get older own sports car least once, but after being in large luxury car once, my opinion and idea about cars have changed. There are nothing like full size luxury car. This one is really good one. Even G80 was nice but K900 is actually affordable full size I'd love to own one day. I am totally sold to this and this refresh model year is even better than the last.

    KIA’s Korean spec releases always have better styling and tech (see the Stinger) than the U.S. releases. Heck, Canada gets all the same bells and whistles as the Korean market. KIA/Hyundai seriously need to upgrade all their brands (including Genesis’) infotainment systems. Even the new G70 still has the old GUI and smallish screen. Before someone replies, “KIA and Hyundai aren’t the same company”, don’t! They share the same design and engineering teams.
    This is much nicer than the G90.
    Alex- why is it KIA/Hyundai’s Genesis offer less tech and other amenities than here in the U.S. markets.

    I’m generally not interested in this brand BUT, this is a nice looking luxury sedan.

    Great looking car! Mercedes-Benz, BMW or Lexus can make mistakes that would not even be brought to light because of who they are but KIA/Hyundai can make a great car with a better warranty and not be considered a real luxury car. I buy for the product not the brand and a consumer would be getting a lot for their money with this car.

  • @AccurateShooter

    Are HID Headlights available? These are still brighter and better than LEDs, but require high voltage ballasts. Mercedes HIDs are the best lowbeam headlights I’ve ever seen. True luxury cars should offer them. BMW now has laser high beams.

      Michael Zhu it's no where as good as the new Ls I'm sorry to say, this more comparable to BMW's offering and Audi. It still falls short of the 7 series but it's not as good as the new Ls or S class by some wide margin.

      @alliejr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      +Samson Okoro I think I'd really have to see it in real life to call it far short of the LS (I likely agree that _everything_ is far short of the S Class which is in another class- no pun). At the NY Auto Show, I sat in Genesis G90 and Lexus LS and the Genesis was _MUCH_ more premium. I was actually a bit disappointed in the new LS. The LS materials and overall design were just not nearly as premium as the Genesis so I might expect similar from this Kia.

    Alex, you, my friend, are a shark! When I first read the title, I had to do a double take to make sure I was reading it correctly. Did I really just read 2019...??? But how did he...??? Then, your opening remarks answered my question. Freaking awesome! Love this car, but if I get one, I'll probably be picking it up in a few years, when I can get one with about 40,000 miles for around $25,000. Wish we could get the rear seat entertainment in the US though. Is there a reason they leave that out of the US version? Great review, as always!

    Wow. The lack of offering the V8 here in the USA just crossed this off my list. I was seriously interested.
    Any reason in particular why the “graduating” turn signals don’t make it to the USA? Audi brings that feature or “look” here on their cars with no issue. Laws can’t be the issue. To my knowledge, certain active matrix led or laser headlamps are the only thing we don’t allow here yet.

    The front fascia is nicely executed and a step forward from its square and dull design that we are all used to see in Kia's plebeian models.
    The lights shown from an angle are not very nice, but from the front the combination of the front fascia, the lights and the curved hood is a nice restrained design that could age well.

  • @legambaz
    @legambaz 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The exterior is really so so. Anytime you ask people to comment on the exterior looks, it better NOT be black! Interior is nice though. I always prefers an offset gear lever so it maximizes space in the center console. Though this tan isn't ideal, it is still a lot better than any black interior.

So, when you were talking about those progressive turn signals, I remembered that last night on my way home, I saw an Audi station wagon with that kind of turn signal on the back. Since it was in front of me, I could not see if it was the same on the front. Those are nice.

    This is a gorgeous luxury car, but like all the newer vehicle manufacturer's that employ electronic shifter's either rotary knob or facsimile stick, i prefer the mechanical link to the transmission that a physical shifter offers. Something you can't mimic with an electronic shifter. But to each his own i guess. Good review.
