    So many reviewers talk about brand identity and prestige. That means nothing to me. I don't care about badges. Just make a product that appeals to me and satisfies my needs and I'll buy it.

      I used to think that way too and for the most part and I still do on lesser investments (other than a car). But... brand prestige and desirability go hand and hand. A car is a huge investment and my mother in law just bought an Elantra GT and she paid almost $32k fully loaded which now (2 years later) she’ll be lucky to get $10k for it. My father on the other hand bought a second hand Lexus for about the same price and that has depreciated about $4k over the last two years. So, brand prestige is a huge factor to consider.

    I have owned this car for 9 months. 2015 K900, V8, VIP package. $69K MSRP......I leased it with the model year-end clearance incentives for $47K. There is a term in business called price/performance ratio.....and for $47K there is NOTHING remotely in the same league as this car. KIA did nearly everything right with this car. The 425hp V8 is a silken hammer. The ferocity with which it accelerates this 4500 lb car forward is amazing and the 8 speed transmission shifts are undetectable it is so smooth. All who have ridden in it say "THIS is a Kia"......with amazement. That Lebron James drives this car is not surprising to me at all.
    I have had zero problems, defects, or recalls........unlike my previous Lexus LS460. Not sure if the base V6 model (new for 2016) has different suspension tuning vs my 2015 V8, but, the reviewers comments on ride quality and handling do not match up with my own experience. My business partner just bought an Audi A8 and the ride will rattle the fillings out of your teeth.....ridiculous.
    Allow me to vent a pet peeve to all manufacturers of full size luxury cars: WE WHO BUY FULL SIZE LUXURY CARS WANT LOTS OF ROOM, A SOFT RIDE, SOFT SEATS, AND A QUIET CABIN. WE COULD GIVE TWO SH!TS ABOUT HOW THE CAR PERFORMS IN A SLALOM, ON A SKIDPAD, OR RACE TRACK. WE DO NOT LIKE HARD RIDING, ULTRA LOW PROFILE TIRES THAT POP ON EVERY POTHOLE, AND WE CERTAINLY DO NOT LIKE BOY RACER, HARD A$$ SEATS WITH AGGRESSIVE BOLSTERS. IF WE WANT A SPORTS CAR, WE WILL BUY A SPORTS CAR.
    AFAIK Kia is the only company that provides such a car and it is the K900. The Lincoln Towncar was the only other full size, soft riding luxury car and it has been discontinued for some time. THANK YOU KIA. I can cruise in serenity all day in this car and emerge relaxed and refreshed. The seats are plush and soft, yet support my 6'4 250lb frame like a recliner. The Lexicon audio system is the same system used in Bentley's and Rolls Royce. I own a professional recording studio and Lexicon digital processors are among the best ever made. The Kia Lexicon audio system puts the Mark Levinson system in Lexus to shame.
    Is this car perfect?.....no. Is it better in some areas than a Lexus LS460L....yes. Similarly equipped a LS460L is $95K. Overall the Kia K900 is 90% as good as anything in the $90-100K price range..........for half the money. I hope they keep improving this car, because I will be driving them for a LONG time.

      I miss those old school super quiet super soft riding big sedans that as soon as you go on the highway people would go right to sleep like this 80s Caddy Ihad for a while. And I really wish they would bring back velour couch like seats what did they cancel those? I had a navy blue velour seats in my old Caddy and everyone loved it "plush" warm in winter cool in the summer I never heard anyone not like velour seats...I totally agree not every sedan has to be some boy racer 4 door sports car with noisy interious....feel every bump and hard seats

      I bought the V8 VIP version last month as well. Used with 22k for $29k. I really like the car, I can see where the V6 may have its issues, but Im super happy with my car. Im shocked at how quiet and smooth it is. Its a monster for long drives and highway commuting. For $29k, you show me a car that can match up...

    Well I just purchased a 2015 Kia K900 non VIP V8 version used for $15900.00. The V8 is powerful and the interior is wonderful. I do wish the chassis soaked up road imperfections but I believe the V8 chassis tuning is better in that regard then the V6. With just 52000 miles I'll get something that Ze Germans can never provide...reliability! I mean if you thought the car was a good value before for $64K what about at $16K?

    Leased one of these back in 2015, Kia had about 14k into the lease. So the price was insane. It was cheaper to lease than any mainstream mid-sized sedan.
    The dealership experience was terrible. Most people at the Kia dealership didn’t even know what it was.
    But this car was very very nice. A true mile eater on the highway, super quiet, good engine, and everyone who got in it was shocked it was a Kia.
    These cars are everywhere in Korea (K9), surprised they even sold them here but it did expand the public’s perception of Kia. The Stinger helped as well. Nowadays a nice Kia isn’t such a shock.
    I’d imagine this car is super cheap to buy these days, and I’d recommend it if you enjoy a modern Lincoln Town Car experience.

      KIA DOESN'T HAVE A PRESTIGE PROBLEM IN KOREA....
      BUT IN AMERICA, KIA IS NOT A LUXURY BRAND !
      EVERYBODY WHO SAT IN ONE AT THE AUTO SHOW WAS SURPRISED AT HOW GOOD THE INTERIOR WAS !
      KIA WOULD HAVE SOLD MORE IF THEY REMOVED THE KIA BADGES !
      BUT THOSE KIA BADGES ARE EVERYWHERE ! THE WORST LOCATION IS RIGHT ON THE STEERING WHEEL !
      SO AS THE DRIVER, YOU ARE CONSTANTLY REMINDED, THAT YOU ARE DRIVING A KIA !
      THERE ARE BLANK LABELS ONLINE THAT WILL COVER THOSE KIA BADGES !

    Beautifully done as usual. The K900, in my opinion could have been better but I believe the audience for this car in Korea wasn't the sporty crowd, so we end up getting what the Koreans feel we would want. With the new German talent Hyundai/KIA has now, I hope they improve the next generation a lot more. Sorento and Optima are vastly improved, the new Cadenza has been released in Korea and that looks nice. Interested to see how it is when it gets here.

    Hi, I am considering purchasing a 2015/2016 Genesis G80, Cadenza, K900, or Grand Cherokee.
    I was just wondering whether you felt that keeping the K900 for 7+ years is something feasible. (Considering depreciation, the ride of the car, overall sales, mechanic costs, and anything else relevant)
    Great reviews, btw. Lack back, but very detailed.

    • @savagegeese
      @savagegeese  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Βασίλειος Πράππας They are so similar now it's almost identical. However the K900 has some things on interior that are better than Genesis G80. Headliner, leather some materials, switches, but the K900 is more a Equuis competitor. So its not totally apples to apples. I dont think the K900 is a huge difference than Genesis bottom line in terms of interior quality.

    Big thumbs up brother, great looking review !!!
    You asked me to watch the clip to give my opinion, so here's just a couple of nit picks :
    Not a big fan of the shot @1:25 from a distance as the rest of the scenery takes your eyes off the car in the middle of the screen.
    At around the @2:25 mark the rolling shot is kinda jittery but it's just nit picking. It may have been caused during rendering.

    I'm really interested in Kia's and Hyundai's (i.e., Genesis') efforts in the flagship luxury segment going forward. Not just because I think they're improving over time--which seems to be the consensus, anyway--but because the conditions that allowed this kind of mediocrity to sell are gone. This generation of Korean luxury is the last one that has enormous tariffs to protect its only important market--South Korea. Hyundai/Kia have gotten away with dramatically overpricing their luxury cars in the domestic market despite the lack of any competency-based justification, and combine the disappearance of that moat of import taxation with the declining nationalism of Koreans which also helped boost sales of these vehicles, and I think, I hope, Hyundai/Kia are going to quickly realize that they have to do much better, much more interesting cars.

    • @aquaticko
      @aquaticko 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      On these luxury models, it can be tens of thousands more. The Kia K9, which is our K900, cost 85 million won in 2013 in South Korea, which is equivalent to about $80,000. A Hyundai Equus of the same year started around 65 million (~$60,000 won) and went up to over $100,000.

    Even though I admit that this is a real great looking luxurious car... the general public still do not associate KIA with luxury, so people won't look at your car the same way as a German luxury no matter what as long as that KIA logo is on it.
    KIA should do what most other manufacturers do.... have a separate luxury brand. Toyota > Lexus, Honda > Acura, Ford > Lincoln, VW > Audi, etc....
    KIA simply cannot change public perception of a luxury car under the brand of KIA in North America...
