I really want to try out Mac as I have been saving for this but so far I can afford only 2nd hand. This video is a blessing and I hope I can do all this 😂😢
I have recently purchased MBP Pro 16 M1 from ebay. Waiting for it to arrive and apply these steps. I believe I have done due diligence to not get scammed, but I know anything is possible on internet. Fingers crossed. Thanks for the video.
@@hypno0784 Overall, I am pleased with the model I received. It had 93 battery cycles. I had one small ding on the left side of the corner which has a slight bump. Rest of the laptop is without any major scratches. As advertised, laptop came AppleCare+ until Nov 2024. 1 yead e-bay refurbushed (AllState) also valid (only repairs, no accidential coverage). Everything is working good so far. I have only noticed one thing with auto brightness on screen but I need to test it thouroughly. Overall, I am satisfied. Price of it I believe was on a higher side but M1s do hold their values and AppleCare+ helps justifying the price premium.
Sorry guys. I paid ~1469 (befoer tax) for it. Apart from a dent in the corner of left hand palm, it turned out great. Battery cycles at 93 with 96% capacity. I have not used it to the full extent of its capacity but overall it turned out to be great. AppleCare+ is also available till end of October this year. But since everything is working fine, I have not used it. Hopefully I get an option to extend it. Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Excellent video. I have a few questions. 1. How do you check for repaired screen. 2. How to know if laptop is refurbished 3. How to check if laptop had water damage? 4. Do you have a list of what you covered in like a pdf? Thanks for your help!
1) A third party screen would not have an apple logo. It is possible that it might be replaced with one from another macbook, which in that case I would check the hinge. Make sure it closes all the way and don't make any snapping noises. 2) Most laptops that are re-sold are technically "used". Some may have replaced batteries. If the cycle count is low thats a good sign its been recently replaced. 3) The keys on the keyboard will likely be sticky. You may have to unscrew the bottom off to see if there's any corrosion on the board. 4) Unfortunately no. If your concerned I would recommend buying from a shop. Your likely going to pay more for it, but most shops have a 90day-1 year warranty for defects like you mentioned.
Thanks for your reply man. For question 1) What do you mean by a third party screen wont have apple logo? Do you mean that when it turns on it won't have apple logo and behind it the black background?@@TerrysTechTips
Not true at all. @@TerrysTechTips A store in my neighborhood literally imports displays from china and installs it on macbooks with broken/damaged displays. You can barely tell a difference, other than true tone not turning on. They buy it for $240 and sell it for $250

You should be able to check it without resetting the computer. If you shut down the computer and hold Comand-R and a lock icon shows up its firmware locked. If not then it’s not firmware locked. The computer’s data only erases when you go into disk utility and wipe the hardrive.
The serial number can't be changed, but someone could replace the bottom of the computer with another plate that has a different serial number. If your concerned I would check by the serial number in the "about this mac" section.

13 inch M1 MacBook pro 47 cycle count, 100% maximum capacity, 16gb ram and 512gb storage. Is 1050 USD a good price? Any idea how much a new one like this costs?
Hey what do you think about a 16gb ram MacBook Pro with 512gb around 400-500 euros ? I have found some on marketplace and I’m planning to use it for uni and eventually some sims since I have my gaming laptop. I have three options between a 2017 one with a i5 and two from 2018 with a i5 or i7.
I know the SIMS don’t really need much to run. A 2018 may be the better option because of longevity. If you’re always on the go though a used M1 MacBook Air with 8Gb RAM and 512gb of storage might be better for the battery life aspect. The system requirements for the SIMS suggests 8Gb of ram.
Hi , thanks for the video. Just a question if possible. Can there be fake MacBook pro’s ? Just found M3 max somewhere for quite cheap and I am not sure what to think of it. Any advice? Maybe it’s stolen ? Can I know if it’s stolen if it’s unlocked and no Apple ID signed in ?

Heya! Super appreciate your help through this video. I recently bought a refurbished MBA 2020 M1 8-Core 16GB/512GB (from Backmarket) for £550 (around $700) and I am really worried with the battery health (89% with 417 cycle counts when I received it). Is it still worth it in 2024 or should I just return it? Is replacing it with MBP 2020 M1 8-Core 8GB/512GB a better option? I am not a gamer or content creator - the need is daily office tasks and minor graphic design jobs for next 2-3 years. Thanks!
For what your using it for the Macbook Air is just fine, especially with 16gb of ram and 512gb of storage. Also 89% battery health is pretty good for a used macbook. Most of the ones I've seen are around ~85%.
I bought a MacBook Pro 2020 from amazon and I downloaded the coconut battery app to check my battery health it says that the manufactured date of the battery is 2015 which is 10 years old .should I replace it with a 2020 battery
If the battery health is under 80% I would consider it. Most repair shops will charge around $150 for something like that. It also depends on how often you’re taking it on the go.
Good info, currently I am planning to get a secondary laptop c2d windows laptop and no battery backup for 30$ from a whole sale lot, is it a good deal?

you can check the cycle count under hardware in the system settings where you checked the SSD. No need to download 3rd party software.
