If I could find this now for $100, I'd run out and grab one this week. Now, 18 months after your review, I can only find this at TW for $160. Too rich for my blood. If I am going to spend that much for a single bottle, I'd more likely take the plunge on something like the Craigellachie 17, but even that is a stretch when I am perfectly content with my Craigellachie 13 at 1/3 the price. Yeah the price went up considerably after my review… hard to find maybe due to discontinued? Yet another rebranding? Not sure but stock up on that Craigellachie 13… it’s gonna go up. Cheers 🥃
From previous reviews on youtube I heard the Longmorn 16 year is the Scotch for the Bourbon lover. I got bottlings from 2017 and 2018 in the bunker. Got lucky I bought it before the price hikes. Now they're $125. Definitely enjoyed the review.
Sounds like an interesting pour if I see it at a bar, but too many bottles all ready in my sights to add this to my buy list 😆 and the Craigellachie 13 and 17 nestled snuggly in my bar has me content 💯🥃
John a great review as usual was wondering if you had heard anything on the 2017 bottling of this that you mentioned. There is a dusty in one of the shops I frequent but I am not a huge bourbon cask only fan prefer Sherry in most cases. But would grab it if you have heard good things about it the 2017. Cheers
I’ve heard only good things about Longmorn but I have only had the newer bottle I reviewed. If it were me I would grab it. You could always splash some of your favorite sherried whisky into your glass and create your own bliss point. Cheers 🥃

@@justwhisky Not so much, especially not in the Seacoast area. Feel more the presence of, wink, Massh***s… moving up. :) Our state stores are great on some things, but lacking on others. The Portsmouth Circle store has a lot of nicer stuff. I balance out with shopping trips to MA and to my most favorite place, Irene Tan at WhiskyMentors/Canterbury Liquors in CT.,
@@justwhisky Also, just FYI, the web site has a nice inventory feature so you can see what bottles are at what store. Just be warned that when it gets down to just 1 or 2 bottles, it is often wrong. Phantom Springbank and such things.
Great review John. I was curious about Longmorn 16 but never convinced enough to grab a bottle. A lot of sherried finished offerings tend to mask any shortcomings but bourbon aged whiskies can't hide their flaws such as the bitter tanneney ting that you described in this LM 16. I've gone through a couple of bottles of Craigellachie 13 and just got a 17 that I look forward to cracking open. I believe LM is a pass for me for now.
Fair enough. L18 has minimal or even barely noticeable Sherry influence. Craigellachie 13 is great value for money. The 17 is good as well but not worth the extra $$$ IMHO. Craigellachie 13 is becoming one of my top whiskies. Cheers 🥃
That’s about $165 US which IMO is the very top. It’s available in US from $90-$150. Another offering in the ultra luxury market I guess. The Longmorn 18 is available in Europe online for $85 pounds and same website has the L16 for $150 pounds. Makes no sense. Bottom line for my enjoyment/comfort level paying $100 US is my limit.
