I found these twice in the last decade. I bought two and still have one sealed. That said having all those bottles on the table is just flexing! 😂 they’re so rare that I sold the empty bottle on eBay for $60. My bottle is Batch 15 from 2017. 56.5 abv.
@@SaltyCuban seems like flexing but honestly just want to share my experience. I do realize how fortunate I am as these really are special treats. Empty bottles sold on eBay usually get refilled and sold as counterfeit with who knows what inside 🤷♂️ Cheers 🥃
That is a dream stash John and I envy your passion, luck and patience to have collected them over time. Fat chance I will ever see one let alone buy one. I do have one each of SB10 and SB15 year olds. As much as I hesitate to go near them, I will have to crack and savor one of them for a special occasion at some point.
Just getting toward the end of the video where you would rather a 2022 10year over a new 12. I recently just came across a 2019 10 year. The box was a dead giveaway that it was older. My current open 10 is a Nov. 2021. The plan was to open the backup 2023 10year once the 2021 was near empty to compare. Now Im worried curiosity will get the best of me and I open the 2019 also 😅 Thanks again!
@@javieracosta3439 SB 10 usually have several releases per year and 2019 was no exception… at least 5 if memory recalls. Each SB bottling are batch variations. That SB 10 2022 I recently reviewed is something special. Cheers 🥃
Hello John, thanks for reviewing this. Very minor: the only doubled-distilled whisky from Springbank's stills is Longrow. Springbank themselves say Springbank is 2.5x distilled but the number is actually closer to 2.8x... although many whiskies that are "double distilled" often include some portion of spirit that got returned to the still in the process and so if one is really nit-picky is >2x distilled.🙄

Was fortunate enough to get 2 bottles of batch 25 @ 57.2. Some of the best whisky I have ever tried. I agree with you on SB10. Hard to beat even with the criminal price increase here in the states. Cheers, John. BTW, if you would like a sample of 25, I would be glad to send some your way.
That 2021 100% ex-bourbon was my first Springbank ever. OMG it is amazing. Won it in a charity raffle. Only just got a batch 25 last summer. Hadnt seen any 12s in those years in between. Im not as enamoured with the batct 25. But it had the incredibly high bar set by the 2021 to compete against. Cheers!

I "sprang" for a bottle of cask strength 12 recently, and it was the 57.2%. Haven't cracked the bottle yet, but I wonder how much batch variation there is with what you're tasting.
Only had 10 yo so far😢 almost unavailable in my eastern Europe air quotes. The 10 my friend also brought me from Shanghai to Moscow. Bottle made worldwide cruise 😂
@justwhisky at that point really don't know if I need to advance to 12 yo or put my hands on another 10 once I have a chance. Age is not the first priority but cask composition. Rum I'm not sure about.
How do you know the batch number, do you check the lot code and if you know the last batch was X proof and X lot code, and this batch is Y proof with a later lot code it must be the next batch?
@@PatrickS0057 agree it’s convoluted as SB usually only releases only one per year so the year 2024 would be “ Batch 25” which is the spring (57.2%) however SB had an unprecedented two releases in 2024… the second being 56.2% ( batch 26) None of these “ batches “ are labeled anywhere but basically except for 2024 The batch number is the number after the current year( release year 2000 is batch 1) Hopefully that makes sense but it’s only an unofficial geeky thing. Just pay attention to abv of any given year. Cheers 🥃
I used to find this bottle in the shelf on 2010 for $70 in Wisconsin. Wish I had purchases a few more!

@ rum is only 5% on the newest SB12.
One can’t go wrong with SB10 as each batch is different as well.
