I posted this on the VOD already, but you can see Chance approaching just before the rollback, your game client didn't realize he was boosting to attack you, and when it rolled back after he had already killed you, it had him in front of you and you dead, but I guess the game can't just show you that you died mysteriously, so it showed an animation of him rocketing backwards to kill you, causing the zaniness.
I've done rollback netcode on a game myself, and, in my opinion, the sort of thoughtfulness on the part of Nintendo is kind of cool, but it does lead to some confusion. Synchronization is hard! It's even harder to make it look logical, which I've never even attempted.

Nintendo is so dedicated to keeping that classic, retro experience they even go as far as emulating how it felt to play online in the mid 1990s! (In a household with 56kbps connection speeds that completely died the moment someone touched the landline)

My guess is that guy actually hit him from the side on his end when he showed up for that brief moment and this was just the games way of catching up to show it, though I can't help but wonder if he was spinning at the moment if it would have still blocked it or not. Either way this is definitely the moment where you can hear Vinny become the Joker, he's going to have to release Grey Leno for a day as punishment.
