8:38 Ah yeah, can't forget when Bowser turned into a spider and used his powerful *"fire.png"* technique in Mario 64 DS, easily my favorite part of the game.
Pretty sure the corruption moved everything really far away from the world origin. Floating point numbers are very precise near zero, so the gap from one possible value to the next is very small. But as they grow they get less precise, and the gaps between possible values get larger. This means that if you're _very_ far away from the world origin in most video games, vertices will start to noticeably snap to points on an invisible grid.
@@AjaxGb learned this when goofing around on gmod. id set the noclip speed to stupid high amounts (manually entering 99999 or some shit) and ZIPPING to the edge of the map. your playermodel would get all janky and polygon-y
Nintendo DS corruptions always hit different. I remember playing that really old compilation of the NintenDogs corruptions in the background on loop while I’d make GameMaker games and it was a simple time. Wild World in particular had some nice geometrical heresy.
The picasso spirit tracks corruptions I believe happen because the DS rounds it's vertex positions to certain increments, like the PS1 did. For whatever reason the corruption increased those intervals by quite a lot so every vertex had a lot fewer places to snap to.
10:13 "Soon modern indie games are gonna emulate this style because of how nostalgic it is." Already happened. Check out "A Short Hike". Looks just like a DS game.
He says "Yoshi just ate a sentient, living, speaking creature" like he doesn't do that all the damn time. His main food source is live, whole shyguys and goombas.
9:13 Wario comes out of the unlocked door. No wait actually it was Yoshi. Game says you unlocked Mario. Bowser laugh plays because Wario's door is actually locked. ???????????????????????????
Wario punching Luigi into orbit, growling like a dog, and then saying "Yeah!" with immense satisfaction is a great way to start any video
"you're going into orbit but _i'm_ the stupid mutt"
Wario was so happy he pulverized Luigi.
I'd say this is so in character though lmao

That Picasso style Zelda game is no joke an interesting idea. Of course, not in that context, but its a genuinely interesting concept.
It kinda reminds me of PilotRedSun's animation style
Yeah the way the vertices seem to snap to a grid and turn it into some kind of Cubist style is actually kinda cool.
Link between worlds did something that with the wall mechanic
Miayamoto: Write that down, write that down! Copyright it!
That looks like floating point number precision loss. It's what happens in the Far Lands in Minecraft and Roblox, far away from the origin position.
5:22 "Yoshi just ate a sentient living speaking creature" I mean... that's kinda what he's known for doing. He's a lot like Kirby in that regard
They don't usually STAY eaten though...
Vore icons, truly
the music's fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥
that spirit tracks traingle sludge is like a whole new brand of graphics filth to me, i have NEVER seen anything like it
Honestly, I dig it, I'd like to see a game use that sort of style, just a bit less trippy as to be able to make up what you're looking at, lol
