Congratulations!! I am not an engineer, but I am interested in some aspects. Kariba Dam is the largest man-made dam (185 km3 of water). It is almost five times bigger than the Chinese Three Gorges Dam (38 km3). However, the Three-Gorges Dam has an installed capacity of 22,500 MW compared to Kariba's 1,626 MW (with the Zambia side). Is the difference only in terms of number turbines, Kariba has 14 compared to 34 and their capacity? What is the maximum that can be harnessed from Kariba, if financial resources were available (a simple matchbox calculation says 110,000 MW)?
The Kariba dam may hold more water but the Yangtze river carries a lot more water. The Zambezi is a small river compared to the Yangtze river. There are only 6 turbines on the Kariba dam . ???
wish we could hve more projects like these in my country ,even if there is corruption in the country its better when the project is a success not kuba zvekuti project yacho ingumira pakati
How many years the late Ethiopian pm Meles Zenawi told African leaders without power roads, ports ,railroads ,there can be no development. African eyes are now open to see what will develop our countries and not democracy .
The government should stop monopoly of electricity and rail networks. There should be allowance of private companies to supply and run electric and rail services just like what other nations do.
No! electricity like public health and education should be public commodities. Our people cannot pay private players for electricity. People should make village or community solar parks to cater for the shortfalls from solar. That where private players can come in....sustainably.
Up for debate. I believe we should privatize some aspects of our economy, but I think these two should be public or public-private ventures because these are critical sectors even to our national security.
This is a magnificent project. Welldone Engineers! We look forward to more projects like this!
This is the Zimbabwe that we all dream of. Politics aside. we need real development
Well structured documentary. Good storytelling, explanatory cinematography interviews....spot on .
Amazing China, delivering to Africa. The better Zim is the better Southern Africa

it's the head of water , height the water has to fall i beleive
Well, lately the water level has fallen so drastically that the floodgates stay open all the time..
The flood gates have never been opened in years. That's not were the turbines are @@dranthony1882

This is impressive and a very good documentary. My question is how has been the electricity supply since then
Imagine all those talented engineers😍
impressive madyira
Great stuff well done can you do the same for the progress in Hwange
Build more of these and solar power plant
True is amazing

Rhodesia slightly coming back to life.
Hope the Chinese won't take it back after we fail to pay back the loan
Zimbabwe is actually pretty good in managing foreign debt so they will pull this off

And 90cents, clearly this is a joke as the financials were provided by the contractor. Zimbabwe is sold to the lowest bidder.😢

I agree but also a lot of zimbabwean businessman most likely wouldn't take the risk

They don’t like it when they don’t have control - they can’t steal.
Chief in a suit?
Ooh yes!
Why is it called Kariba South when it's not actually South of the lake/dam.
The Kariba (and the Zambezi in general) shoreline on the Zimbabwe side is called the South Bank. What would you like to call it?

Watsica Mount
May be good but not as good as the Hoover Dam Hydroelectric scheme in Nevada and Colorado in the United States
The amount is too much.
For you
Oceane Mountain
The Hoover Dam in Nevada is far more prettier than Kariba
