    • How To Prevent Leather...
    Leather upholstery is a luxurious touch to any fine automobile. But without proper care or maintenance, leather dries out, cracks, fades, and brings down the look of any car. Leather is real skin, and requires standard skin care to stay healthy, supple, soft, and vibrant and colorful.
    Choose Chemical Guys leather care products to clean, restore, and protect leather seats, upholstery, apparel, and items throughout the automobile, or home.
    Chemical Guys Leather Cleaner is colorless, odorless, and gentle enough to use on synthetic and natural leather. Use Leather Cleaner to remove body oils, spills, stains, dirt, and grime from leather goods.
    - Leather Cleaner:

    Chemical Guys Leather Conditioner is lotion for leather. Leather Conditioner nourishes leather to restore a soft feel, and helps prevents cracking and splitting of leather hide.
    - Leather Conditioner:

    Chemical Guys Leather Serum is an all new protectant class of leather product. Leather Serum is like sunscreen for leather. Protect leather from UV solar damage, light staining from liquids and oils, and the elements.

    If you came here to find out how you protect your leather: 1. Keep the sun away as much as possible (park in garage and with the top up) 2. Get your windows tinted 3. Clean it with steam, open the pores and use a proper cleaning and conditioning system to get the acidic body oils and salty sweat out. I personally use Leatherique (not the redye set), just the cleaner itself is a pretty good all-in-one product.

    just purchased a 2011 70th Edition Jeep Patriot in near showroom condition. It has beautiful leather seats without cracks, fading, etc and this video has given me terrific info on the care needed for these seats. I was just wondering if I should put in seat covers and how they would effect the leather. After seeing this video I don't believe I care to eat sandwiches and drink sodas now on the road. hehe. Anyway, thanks for the post.

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm assuming the cover is made of leather judging by the video. I would start by gently cleaning the cover with the leather cleaner, then applying some of the leather serum to rehydrate the cover. Doing this every month, or every month and half should keep the leather in good shape. The vitamin E in the Serum will help to slow down the degradation o the leather.

      As the explained in other video, Leather Conditioner is like a lotion for the skin, which means it softens the leather. Leather Serum is for protection to the leather, like a wax or sealant for the paint. They both make different actions in the leather.

The leather serum contains a complex of essential ingredients to extend the life of damaged leather, or leather that has started to show signs of aging due to exposure to the sun, and normal wear and tear. Our quick detail spray cleans and protects with a ph balanced neutral formula, and contains vitamin that nourishes leather as well. Stay tuned buddy, we've got more great videos heading your way.

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Onix! Using hand creme on your leather will clog up the leather pours and dry it out. We recommend both Leather condition or Leather Serum to receive the maximum protection. Leather Conditioner is a water-based formula that is blended with Vitamin E Aloe extracting to moisturize leather pieces to restore a soft, supple feel. Leather Serum is a unique protectant that restores a soft supple feel to leather, and protects against fading from harsh UV rays and light stains from normal use. • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jesus, thanks for checking out this vid. Leather naturally breaks down over time, it was once an animal's hide. Wear and tear on the seats, heat, body oils, friction from getting in and out of the car will cause the leather to crack, and deteriorate over time. Using something like the Leather serum and Conditioner drastically slows that process down so that you can get the most longevity from your leather. Even if the windshield is covered, the surrounding vehicle is still being heated, dehydrating the leather. I suggest you give it a try, and you will immediately notice a change in your leather's feel. Stay tuned Jesus, we have more videos coming out every week.

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Gary, thanks for watching. Leather breaks down because of temperature, wear and tear, and exposure to body oils. Some people choose to neglect their car's leather interior, which results in premature cracking, fading, and flaking. Our Leather conditioner, and serum work well to slow down the rate at which the seats begin to break down. Unfortunately for the owner of this Porsche, it's clear to see that they didn't bother to do the proper maintenance to keep the leather looking its best.
