Sorry for the long comment here.. Anyway, I get anxiety attacks when I'm awake, and rarely when I'm sleeping. When I get one during the day, it usually starts with either my mind going into hyperdrive for no reason, or, my heart rate/pulse and breathing rate just starts going up for no reason..and I've even had some that start of with all of those factors. Then, I start to feel a bit numb (like the type of numb feeling you get when you have Novocain in you), I can feel my pulse in my hands, I'll start to get very got (this may include me starting to sweat a lot), and my mind is going at such a high rate of speed, that if people say something to me, it's like my mind doesn't register anything that the person just said. There have been other times that a sudden anxiety attack will trigger an instant headache. The ones that I get when I'm sleeping always start the same way. I'll start to have very random dreams that make no sense (like I'll be at a different location every half a second or something weird like that). Or...the dream will start off as a very peaceful one..and then..BAM!! Crazy things start happening in my dream, and that causes me to wake up. When I wake up, my mind is going at like twenty billion miles per hour, my heart rate sometimes goes up a lot, I feel myself breathing very heavily (like I just ran some sprints), and other times, I start getting very hot and I start sweating like crazy. However, for me, telling my mind to calm down/slow down/hit the emergency brakes, trying to control my breathing, walking around a bit and drinking some water will help me calm down from the anxiety/panic attack. If my mind won't slow down, I'll try to force my mind to focus on something such as reading a book, listening to music I like a lot, or I'll hang out with my pets (pending that they are awake). Anyway, once again..sorry for the LONG comment..but those are the types of anxiety/panic attacks that I get.
I had my first one when I was about 15 at school. I had left to go to the bathroom after a presentation, and as soon as I got in there I felt nauseous, overstimulated, my head hurt, I left like I was out of my body, and it felt like I was dying. I definitely initially felt weird, but then it turned into, "Oh sh*t, I'm about to die and I can't breathe." The only thing that stopped mine was a friend finding me freaking out and crying in a corner. I'd search up Azula Goes Crazy from Avatar, and that kind of describes how panic attacks feel for me.
Omg I can't believe I finally found you after four years... It's so sweet you share your experiences with other people. But the first thing that came to my mind was - how did/do you deal with panic attacks at your workplace... I mean...You know... Anyways, you seem to be a good and smart person. All the best to you!
I feel like I have these too often... They come on randomly and I suddenly feel like I'm not supposed to be where ever I am and I need to just shut everything out and hide or be alone. Sometimes I just have to literally rock back and fourth and just wait it out. I hate these!
I've only had two panic attacks and both had me feeling that fight or flight mode. where my heart rate goes up and I have to keep moving. So on both occasions I would just go out and walk around and use the breathing technique which usually calms me down and lets me focus.
I don't really remember my first panic attack. My heart always thumps so badly I feel like I'm gonna have a heart attack, I breathe really heavily, I have a weird pain in my stomach and I feel really hot like I'm going to pass out. I can always feel one coming on though so I always leave where ever I am to try and calm down before it hits me.
Sometimes after I have an anxiety attack I don't remember anything that happened before it! It's weird! I feel some of the things you do except for the feeling thing, I don't really feel anything when I have one, I also get intense Deja vu!

My wife suffers from anxiety attacks. They sometimes come from random thoughts ... I'm learning how to help when they happen.

Me too! ESPECIALLY when they come out of no where! Ahhhh! NO bueno
+Jessica Prell maybe one day they will stop!

Breathing techniques are always great!

It's always best to try to catch it early!! I wish I was better at that
May I ask what you've been in as an actress?

I've gotten intense Deja vu before too! I think it's kinda linked to the our of body feeling?
Maybe it is something spiritual but were unaware of it 😂
Happy Happy New Year Jessica Prell and to your family
