What a lateral thinker you are Chris. I was just looking at Gilding Flakes and wishing they had more colours in the range, but no need, because you've invented a work around. Splendid idea with the hairspray too. Your teaching style is so appealing; I learn so much and laugh a lot. Thank you.
I have discovered that there are actually more colours than I thought available…. But at a price, so I’m quite pleased with the ink and hairspray option! 😁😁😁
What a FANTASTIC Video, the colouring idea for the flakes is absolutely GENIUS. Plenty Gilding flakes, definitely going to give it a go. Thank You for sharing. Patricia 💕
Omgosh! U JUST opened up the door to a Bunch of cool ideas!!! LOVE this !! Definitely trying this with my Christmas cards!!! Thanks soooooo much for sharing this 😀
Thanks Christine, great card. I have wanted color in my gilding flakes since I saw a later video of you using some with green in it, but having 3 jars already could not justify buying more. You just solved that problem, now I have to find some hairspray.🤩
What a great idea to use gilding flakes!!! And it's an eyeopener to me to use them on tape!! I was always smeering with glue. More sticking on my fingers than on the flakes.
Thank you Christine. Your work encourages me to spend a bit more time to make each card a bit more appealing. My cards r improving... thank you very much!
Hi. That's a lovely card and I love all the tips and tricks that you give. I often wish I could slow down my brain a bit when the stream of ideas starts rushing through after seeing your videos so that I can keep up! Thank you for sharing this cracking tutorial.
What a wonderful idea. I’m looking forward to trying out this technique. I often use eyeshadow to add colour and then seal it with hairspray. It gives a lovely subtle look. Unusual I know, but it works. Crafty hugs - Dawn 🌅
Eye shadow sounds like an interesting idea--especially for colors that I might not use otherwise. I love crafting with supplies that I already have on hand!
Thank you so much Christine, I really really enjoyed this, and the result’s are terrific and amazing too. I really really love ❤️ how you got this it’s truly stunning and gorgeous too. I’m definitely going to try this out. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
I love how you've done this Chris. Lavinia Stamps sell beautiful mixed gilding flakes and I have some with a lovely blue/green in I'll try and give this a go thank you 🥰
I like your method of adding the flakes to card first then die cut. I did it backwards not fun. Adding the ink and hairspray Is brilliant. I'm going to start an art journal to log these techniques
Just beautiful as always. I’m looking through my stash to see if I have similar dies. I also love the card you made with the die Noel and the trees. I hope mine will look as lovely as yours. I know, I’m dreaming! I can always hope! Thank you for sharing your talent.❤❤❤
Just love your videos my hunt got me 3 jars of those flakes and I thought I needed special glue which I bought on amazon and never tried it lol now I will try the tape just genius thank you
Ordered and received gilding flakes here in Australia. Brand is Cosmic Shimmer’s gilding flakes colour Gemstone . Beautiful colours. Love the way my card turned out. Thank you for demonstrating using them you make it so simple to follow.
Cosmic Shimmer produce some amazing colours of gilding flakes, they are not a cheap commodity though are they! I hope you have lots of fun with them! Thanks for your kind words. ♥️
Chrissie, what fun you’re having in this series of gilding flake videos! This is a particularly lovely idea. I, too had endeavoured to find a variegated pot of flakes - with some reds or greens for Christmas but to no avail here in Australia. I’ve not had a chance to experiment but had thought about alcohol inks daubed onto the gilded panel before die cutting; but I take it from your remarks, that wasn’t successful. So this video proved very helpful! I have an artists fixative spray which I’ve used for fixing colouring mediums, so I’m all set to have a go! Thanks once again. It was great fun!
So inspiring. I love the color rustic wilderness. Luckily, I found flakes with green in them. I think they were called Enchanted Forest. I wonder if distress micro glaze would work for setting the ink. Of course, I don't think it'll diffuse the color.
Beautiful card, I really need to have a play with my gilding flakes, FYI Crafters Companion do quite a variety of bright colours (pinks/green/blue etc) of flakes now, not a mix but you could mix your own 💗
Lovely demonstration, but could you just create another flake creation of your own by adding some other flakes i.e. greens for this design and then keep it in a separate tub. If you have various colour flakes the combinations you could create are endless.
Another great video, thank you. The little brush/pad you use for pressing the flakes in - what is the name of it? It has slipped my mind at the moment. Thank you for your time.
I think that phat foam needs to be thrown out after use (at least that is what happened in my IndigoBlu retreat) but I wash my scoochie with soap and water!
Lovely video , Christine, I might give this a go 😊 I do have variegated flakes from Cosmic Shimmer and have just bought a pot of the newly released flakes from LaviniaStamps. I’m a huge fan of the Julie Hickey profile dies. I don’t have Christmas, I can see a purchase in my future 🤣
Whitening toothpaste! How do you like that? I always love your card. They are clean and simply beautiful! Btw, I get a similar effect using cheap metallic watercolors on black cardstock. When I bought the watercolors they were $6 for the set. That might be $18 now! Thank you for all of your tips!
Christine, do you know what I might use in place of a scoochie(sp?)? I’m not finding one this side of the pond (🇺🇸) unless it goes by a different name over here. Shipping is just so pricey from overseas. 😯
Love your videos! I purchased some variegated gilding flakes and I have some double-sided adhesive sheets. I’m lacking the Scoochy Foam. What do you suggest in its place that would be available in the US. I don’t want to pay $10 shipping for a $3 sponge.
Beautiful as always. Thank you for the inky fingers tip- I’m sitting looking at mine and thinking, how am I going to get this ink off? It seems like you were talking to me 😂 Have a wonderful day 🥰

Brilliant idea to add ink to the gilding flakes. Another beautiful card
Glad you like it😊
I used hairspray to seal glittered Christmas cards. It worked beautifully!
I use hairspray too as you may have seen in some of my other videos!😁😁
Thanks Christine, great card. I have wanted color in my gilding flakes since I saw a later video of you using some with green in it, but having 3 jars already could not justify buying more. You just solved that problem, now I have to find some hairspray.🤩

Another brilliant idea for the flakes,Christine! That green really “royals it up” I’m thinking!

Just love your videos my hunt got me 3 jars of those flakes and I thought I needed special glue which I bought on amazon and never tried it lol now I will try the tape just genius thank you
Tape is less messy and just think, you could be using up those flakes!!!
My gilding flakes arrived from Amazon a few days ago. I will have to give this a try. I love your results. Thank you so much for sharing. xo
Have fun! 💛🧡❤️
Absolutely gorgeous! Thank you!
Thanks so much 🧡♥️🤎❤️
Love them, thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much 💚💚💚
I am enjoying this series. I bought some supplies from Amazon and am experimenting. Thanks!
Thank you so much 😊 There'll be be another for Splitcoaststampers very soon!
Love the green; it really brings the card to life. You are so clever❤
You are very kind, thank you Sue 🧡❤️💚
I recently found your channel I love it !! I’m thinking maybe use a green leaf cutout then add gilding flakes in blotches. I’m going to try it now 🙂
Have lots of fun! 🍃🍂🍃
Christine, Amazon sells variegated colored gilding flakes.
They are available in a few places I have several pots but there aren’t that many containing green!
Ordered and received gilding flakes here in Australia. Brand is Cosmic Shimmer’s gilding flakes colour Gemstone . Beautiful colours. Love the way my card turned out. Thank you for demonstrating using them you make it so simple to follow.

There’s nothing quite like having a bit of fun! It was alcohol ink on the flakes which wasn’t so successful not alcohol inks on the Gilding!
@@Chrissieannie so it might be worth trying them daubed on the gilded panel perhaps 🤔. Was thinking of using a sponge dauber or a cotton bud perhaps.
I think it's definitely worth a go!
Love the card and what a brilliant idea to add colour - thanks so much and I am off to try this.
Thanks so much 💚💛💚
Such a great idea for additional colors of gilding flakes! Love this idea!
Thanks do much 💚🧡💛
Genius! 💖💝💘I can't wait to try this!
Hope you like it!
I had to order some gilding flakes, can’t wait to try them
Have lots of fun1 ♥️♥️♥️
Simply beautiful..never thought to use oxides with gilding flakes. Love your work!
That's really kind thank you 💚💚💚
Thanks Chris, I just had the same question this morning, needed extra colour. You just resolved my problem. Thanks for y
Lovely tutorials. 🥰👍
Have fun! 😊😊😊
I don't have any gliding flakes so I might buy the different colors and make my own mixes.
Good idea!
@@Chrissieannie Thanks. Try to find flakes now. I missed watching during vacation. I was way to tired and didn't want to fall asleep while watching.
So inspiring. I love the color rustic wilderness. Luckily, I found flakes with green in them. I think they were called Enchanted Forest. I wonder if distress micro glaze would work for setting the ink. Of course, I don't think it'll diffuse the color.

@@Chrissieannie I think they only started producing them this last year 💗
Great idea to use oxides. Thank you x
Thank you 🧡❤️💛
Super demo yet again, thank you so much Christine xx
Thanks so much ❤️❤️❤️

I don’t actually have any green flakes which is why I tried this technique!
Another great video, thank you. The little brush/pad you use for pressing the flakes in - what is the name of it? It has slipped my mind at the moment. Thank you for your time.
It's called a scoochie freedom Indigo Blu! Thanks so much 💚💚💚
Thank you Chris I just ordered some guilding flakes from indigo blue and got 20% off, can’t wait to get started on this technique. Great video 😊
Thanks so much, I hope you have loss of fun! 😊😊😊
Simply gorgeous - thank you!!!!
Thanks so much 🧡❤️💚
NOT Paul Mitchell. Dearest hairspray in the world
It's it really? I didn't realise! 🤔
Looks amazing.
Thanks so much😀
Could you drop clear embossing powder on it and seal it that way, do you think?
You would need some Versamark or something to get the EP to stick all over but that wouldn't diffuse the oxide ink.
I just love love love your channel I could watch you forever
I don’t think I can keep going for ever…but I’ll try my best! 😁😁😁😁 thanks so much ❤️
Lucky me, I also have some double sided sheets, not sure why I got them, hope they still work. Jenny🇨🇦
I have a few videos with Gilding flakes you may like to check out. I hope you enjoy playing with them!
Beautiful, just beautiful Christmas card!
Thank you ❤️💚💛🧡
Christine, how do I clean my Phat Foam and Scoochy Foam once I use it. I do not want to contaminate my panel once I start working on another card.
I think that phat foam needs to be thrown out after use (at least that is what happened in my IndigoBlu retreat) but I wash my scoochie with soap and water!
I love guilding flakes but they end up every where no matter how careful iam I love your guilding flake tutorials ty for sharimg x
I think that the main reason for getting in a pickle using GILDING FLAKES, is using too many. If you try to use fewer, you may find it easier! 😊

I love a bargain too! Thank you 😊
I just wondered if guilding was would work on top of the flakes. Will be trying later.
I’m not sure what you mean, adding the flakes is the gilding process!
@@Chrissieannie sorry. Gilding wax is what I meant to say.
@@debbieekes5718 if you have coloured gilding Wax I'm sure it would work... I only have silver and gold!

I would try a dish sponge or something called a Rub it Scrub it from Ranger!
@@Chrissieannie Thank you! I didn't know if it should be smooth or a bit coarse. Enjoy your weekend!
@@Chrissieannie Just ordered a Rub It Scrub It!
I liked the green background. I thought hairspray died Quickly. Hmm🤔
I had just used this die in gold card with a green background... When hairspray lands on a shiny surface it takes longer to dry than it does on hair!
Aha
love this idea, tried ordering and using coupon code said it was invalid. was it only good for yesterday?
No it should be fine, just check your spelling and make sure there are no spaces in the code! If you still have problems I’ll check with the company!
