And plus, when the whole war started, the Continental Army was inexperienced. So there’s definitely a lot of risk with joining the Patriots. But, if he becomes a Loyalist, then he wouldn’t really have to worry about keeping his family safe since his family would be able to stay at home. But, there’s also a risk of becoming a Loyalist. Will his landlord continue to let him and his family live in the house for free after the war? Will the rent keep increasing if the landlord decided to make his family pay the rent? There’s definitely a lot to think about if you’re the colonist. Should I join the Patriots? Potentially getting me and my family killed or captured? Or should I join the Loyalists?
