Historical Selfie
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 20 ส.ค. 2019
During the pandemic in March of 2020, I began to go on hikes to explore and document for my students and for the families that I teach. I provided historical context for the viewer to understand the site and motivate the viewer to explore on their own. It has been an enjoyable process of researching various sites, videoing and editing for the historical selfie channel. The viewers are encourage to document the hikes and sites by taking an "Historical Selfie" to preserve the experience.
Rev War 250 Field Guide - Ludington Mill
New York State has a commemoration field guide to interpret American Revolutionary Sites in New York. New York State played an immense role in the lead up to and execution of the American Revolution during the period of 1774-1783. The Ludington Mill site offers a reflective examination of what ordinary people had to contemplate about staying Loyal or joining the Patriots. The Field Guide offers 6 themes to connect the past with the present. Historical Selfie examines the six themes through the lens of the Ludington Mill site in Kent, NY. #history #americanrevolution #wealthinequality

Happy New Year! Let me know how we can best commemorate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution?
Enjoyed watching this Video I grew up in Cortlandt Manor. Have you given any thought about doing a segment of Peekskill Ny during the American Revolution. Have you been to John Pauldings gravesite in Cortlandt Manor? at the old St. Peter’s Church on Locust Ave. Cortlandt Manor.
I haven’t but thank you for the address. I will definitely check it out. Happy New Year!

There's no way colonialists could've moved that many boulder's in densely wooded areas. And isn't that soil no good for farming anyway?
My ancestor, John Sheldon, built The Old Indian House. He also made several trips to Canada to redeem captives.
Tiktok brought me here 😮😊.
HI Mr Reilly
Spent a week exploring the chambers last summer. Some chambers were used for storage. Land owners installed doors and made modifications to existing chambers they found on thier property. Along with stone fences and chambers, Putnam County is filled with stone architecture . that predates the Colonialist.
I'd love to go one day! Admiration and respect from Llandudno, Cymru 🏴🏴🏴

Um I think you are at the wrong spot in the falls
Maybe. The spot with signs for coopers cave is a now power plant and most of it is fenced off. This is the closest that I could get to it.

There's a monument in my town of Easthampton, Mass. of a raid that took place later that same year. The village of Pascommuck had a population of 33 . Melting snow caused flooding that spring , which left the village isolated . A raiding party came down from Mt.Tom and killed 19 of the settlers , 3 others were dragged off to Canada .
Get some friends, a few shovels, and boom - not a mystery. Then upload the footage here for the rest of us:)
If ‘some friends’ dig it up it’ll remain a mystery til the end of time because they’ll destroy history and ruin any chance of really learning much
My pursuit of happiness is visiting historic places in the United States! Keep Living History
