I have an issue door electric wise on a 2002 Beetle. Window regulators on both doors are new. I have continuity from end to end on the driverside before I plug the harness into the female plugs near hood release. The following does not work: No window movement both sides no noise no nothing. Doorlock: the power mirror switch is making the driverside lock make a click sound. Mirror not working, The lock switch not working both sides. working: Gas-hood release. Light on driverside door button, courtesy light is the only thing working on the passenger side. Im missing something...help if possible.

Ok, these VWs have a comfort and convenience module. Some makes call them alarm modules, but VW modules control far more than just the alarm. The CCM controls the power mirrors, power door locks, windows, interior lights, seat heaters, sun roof and of course the alarm system. If this module malfunctions it can affect all or part of these operations. For most VW Beetle model years this module is located under the drivers side foot well under the carpet. You can find them used for a decent price and they usually don't require programming to match the car. If your car has a sunroof the drains may have at one time been clogged causing water to get under the carpet which can cause the module to short out. The VW Passat 01-04 had a recall for sunroof drains because of this issue causing those cars not to even start. A no start can also happen to your Beetle if the module shorts completely.

Having the exact same problem with a 01 Beetle. Did replacing the motor/module fix your problem? If so, do you know where that part can be purchased. Thanks!

After this video. I found wire harness damage inside the vehicle near the comfort and convenience module. The damage could have been repaired, but I was afraid of finding more, so I elected to remove the power window motors and regulators and install manual windows which are much more reliable. Fairly simple operation, sourced parts from a local salvage yard including manual door panels. The glass of course is the same, so I only needed the manual regs, handles and door panels. The total cost was around $100 in parts. You can find the parts online, but that would raise the cost to around $300 total. I elected this route because the time, potential for further issues and possible future failure were overwhelming. I have a lot of experience with VWs and find they can be wiring nightmares with multiple modules. Anyway, good luck and I hope it works out for you.

I know you already found your answer, let me apologize for not seeing this sooner. Yes, motor module swap out solved the issue on this beetle. On another it did not so we converted it to manual windows for the customer per their request to simplify any future issues.

What would you test if just the mirrors did not work ? Power windows all work...2006

In most cases if the issues is limited to the mirror inop on both side and the switch has been replaced with no good result, you should try the power coming into the door for the mirrors. The harness grounds handle all systems, so a ground fault is not going to be the reason for failure. You can run a separate power supply from ignition switch source like the cig lighter.
