Actor Sonny Landham, whom played Billy in the film, said in an interview, "We weren't making a movie, this was a survival story," as the cast and crew dealt with food poisoning, severe heat in the daytime, cold nights, animals wandering near the set.,etc.

That was such a good movie for real. I really love watching this movie a lot. The first time that I really saw the movie The Predator was when it came out on VHS. When this movie was first released in theaters in 1987. I was only 10 years old at the time.

A fun fact: Jean Claude Van Damme was the original actor who played the predator role but apparently the suit and the heat was too much so they brought on Kevin Peter Hall.
Jean only wore the red suit that helped make the thermal vision and not the final suit

The Predator is from a race of hunters called the Yautja. It's all about trophies for them. Those that collect the best trophies earn the right to join the elite ranks. Earth provides some of the best prey since it hosts one of the most unpredictable species in the universe. Man.

Please do the sequels: Predator 2, and Predators. The Predator, it was ok. But the first two sequels rock.
The Predator had WAY too much studio tampering and im glad some of the endings didnt happen. Predators is basically Predator but on a Yautja hunting preserve with more Yautja and completely unrelated characters. Still good though.
@@daveb947 but they were all strangers with some unique backgrounds in some cases. Not to mention the racism/tribalism between Predator groups. Predator v Predator was interesting to see on screen. And the location being an exoplanet preserve, with that demon hound looking thing.

I mean, we got one for Robocop, Aliens (?), Rambo and Starship Troopers. And showing off just the Predator in an animated series NOW could be great. Show some history, the other clans/factions/variations and their contacts with other species would be awesome if done well.

The log falling onto the Predator was a happy accident. Arnold used the log as a counter weight to the vines which would pull the Predator up into the spikes he set up. When the Predator discovered them he took another route to Arnold which, luckily, worked in Arnold’s favor. It takes him a moment to realize this and then releases the log critically wounding the Predator.

26:40 someone on the original video made a great comment summarising how fantastic and interesting it was that Dutch asked the predator “what the hell are you” and the predator asked back the question with “what the hell are you?” Well from that we can assume the predator didn’t believe that Dutch was no normal man instead an entire different being because of how good he bested the predator in the fight there’s even a scene where it picks Dutch up by the neck and starts inspecting his skull to make sure Dutch was human .

My number 1 favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger movie;!!! Saw this on VHS, and it blew me away. The Predator was designed by Stan Winston, whom would later do VFX work on JURASSIC PARK. This is his second film with Arnold, his first being The Terminator. Jean Claude van Damme played the Predator, but quit production as he wanted the alien to kickbox Arnold, but the producers said no. 7'2" Kevin Peter Hall was brought in to play the Predator. And the rest is movie history.

At 13:24 you asked "what is that?" referring to the "burner" weapon, that shoots a blue pulse of varying wattage. Probably like a plasma rifle in Halo. For that much energy, it likely would require some form of miniaturized nuclear reactor, and the device itself would either have to magnetically compress air into plasma and vent it by opening the field in one direction, or perhaps using a ton of amperage to vaporize a small section of wire into plasma within a cone shaped magnetic field. IDK for sure, but probably something along those lines anyways.

Kevin Peter Hall played the Predator, he was also Harry in Harry And The Henderson's. He stood over 7 feet tall and was one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet. In 1991 he was in a bad car crash in Los Angeles. During surgery at the hospital he received contaminated blood and passed away. RIP KPH

It hit me years later on like...20th viewing lol (watched it a lot as a kid) He is singing the song played in the chopper scene/end credit song "baby, havin' me some fun tonight, yeah" it was little richard that sings the ICONIC song. @@SomethingCinema there is surprisingly a lot of little things like that about this movie i learned over the years, it has a lot of clever writing & story "easter eggs" for a lack of better words. I've seen paragraphs detailing the symbolism of each character relating to their deaths, its not just an awesome & fun movie, it's also secretly brilliant. It was definitely one of my fav arny flicks as a kid. Predator is pretty much the best monster movie creature imo

The thing about this film is that Arnie was forced to act because he was surrounded by actors and people like Jesse Ventura (who was in vietnam )who was already good and raised their game. The confrontation between him and Carl over what' really going on is a good example of this. This showed arnie could hold his own acting wise though. Probably why this is one if not the best arnie film because it was an ensemble cast,good story and effects that gel well together.

Yautja (the Predator) hunt for sport so they wont kill unarmed or weak prey for the most part. There are clans who hunt anything and everything whether theyre armed, adult or even pregnant. They even have fought alongside prey when a bigger threat is present. And about the Arnie getting plasma blasted, it hits his gun.

Around 11:07 when you asked why he's flexin, he's using what's known in the military as "hand and arm signals", which is a form of communication when you want to be quiet. The fist in the air means "halt" or "freeze", don't move. Him opening his hand is a signal for the team to separate off the trail, and form a 360 degree perimeter, to be ready in case anyone comes at them.

The Predators species is called a Yautja.
Their plasma casters have different charges. So that’s why one on Arnie was just a graze. Glasses was actually a producer who gain about 80 pounds of muscle when they needed another actor. Smaller then all of em 😂
Native boy, was originally supposed to have a big fight scene with the predator. But the actor himself needed like four bodyguard escorts because he kept trying to fight all the other weight lifters. They were afraid he wouldn’t back down from the challenge of a fight. Even acting. And we’re afraid for their actor and Yautja costume alike.
Yautja are highly honorable warriors. And if they feel they have found a great warrior it is a great honor for them to fight them without all their bells and whistles.

Its cool seeing this movie with you guys because of who is in it. Bill Duke who played Mac was the cop who was in Menace 2 Society in the famous interrogation scene saying that immortal line "you know you done F'd up" to kane when he kept tripping up on the time of the crime. He was also in carwash too if you ever seen that. Kevin Peter Hall who was the predator was married to Alaina Reed Hall who played rose in 227 which he also appeared on playing a cop. They fell in love on the set and married in real life and on the tv show. She never married again after he died and kept his last name before she passed away too. But after 227 she was a judge that rewarded a young girl in houston in a singing competition that girl won. That girl was Beyonce Knowles. As for Carl Weathers there's nothing i can say that no ne already dont know but if there is a film to check him out in its Action Jackson with vanity. You wont regret it as its a cool 80s action film. Another great reaction.

Give me the Predator. If you're unarmed and not trying to kill them, you aren't very interesting. They're shown to have at least some kind of code of honor. The Alien on the other hand ... they're completely devoid of even the concept of morality. They're coming for you and they do not care. That's always been terrifying to me. I may prefer the Alien series, but this is a fantastic movie. I wish the director had gotten his way and not had to include the shot of the ship dropping the Predator off at Earth during the opening credits. The director wanted people to actually think they were going to see a typical Arnold shoot'em up, and then have the movie slowly morph into a Sci-Fi horror film. The studio demanded that the spaceship shot be included though, which tips the audience off to the twist. I still think the shift in genres works pretty well though ... it just could've been even more surprising.

Id also take the Aliens before a Predator. I dont mean to imply the aliens are dumb but the Predators are a legit intelligent species, which uses tactics and weapons and god damn stealth technology.

Ha ha - Awesome reactions - I love The Predator series (I brought the trilogy before the 4th one came out in theaters a few years ago, but haven't seen it yet). You guys should check out part 2 (It has Danny Glover (from Lethal Weapon) battling another Predator "in the mean streets of downtown Los Angeles" - lol - that's the way they billed it 😅, when they advertised it (but it's really good)). And the 3rd one (which is called "Predators" - is my 2nd best in the series (That one is a VERY close 2nd to this part here)).

I wore out my vhs copy of predator when I was a kid 🤣 fantastic movie. Glasses as you call him is shane black, who wrote lethal weapon. And directed ironman 3. When the predator shoots Arnie he doesn’t hit his arm, if you look closer the shot hits the butt of the gun. I’m sure you have heard they made two spin off movies of predator v the aliens
