It makes me so happy that Tom Hanks loves Cloud Atlas as much as I do. People like to claim the Wachowskis were a one hit wonder with The Matrix, but the cult following of both Speed Racer and Cloud Atlas just goes to show that they were just ahead of their time.
God I love how well spoken Hanks is. His point about comic book movies is maybe the most accurate portrayal of someone commenting on it who’s not as big on maybe wanting to do a movie in either universe but recognizes where the problem is. When he says “the audience is far ahead of it, they see the familiar” it’s so true. Generic is what the comic book genre is suffering from right now. That’s why something as unique as The Boys and Gen V as an example come out more for people.
The 'I don't believe you' worse note from a director is also a line that Colin Hanks' character says on that Key & Peele sketch where he plays the director who gives shitty notes to Jordan Peele's character!
As a man who turns fifty one month from today, I especially appreciated how Tom talked about the phases of life and how they play into the roles he plays, as I personally am slowly transitioning from just a "man" to an "older man". 🙂
Hi! Tom Hanks is my favorite actor since I watched The Terminal as a child. If you interview him again, could you speak with him about this movie? Thank you :)
I Love Comic Books. I Love Marvel and DC. I Love all of the Marvel movies. It was my childhood coming back to life, but now I'm more back to watching From The Earth To The Moon Series, Ford V Ferrari, Gran Turismo, 61*, Field Of Dreams, Apollo 13, Da Vinci Code, etc.. I need storytelling, realism, work ethic, emotion, attention to detail, etc
Bonfire of the Vanities: I did not see the movie, but I read the book. Positive: beautifully written, the author tapped into emptions and described situations with incredible skill. Negative: there were no «good» characters, no hero, they were all lousy humans, no one you wanted to root for. So no, I did not see the movie!
tom hanks not understanding the difference between using obvious rear projection on a car when two people are supposed to be talking while driving, and using "cutting edge" technology to completely revamp an actor's expressive face itself for the bulk of a movie -- is troubling. but, its also not exactly surprising, the guys trying to sell a movie here
you don't need to show clips before the show starts. when did this trend start and why did it start. i'm guessing the majority of people skip them. would everybody stop trying to show us everything before we've seen it. let us find out things for ourselves. same with movie trailers. where's the mystery gone.
It's called a teaser, and people have been doing it for YEARS. I'm guessing you're young, it was a big part of the format for TV. However, it's still prevalent EVERYWHERE. Try not to get so annoyed friend.
@@somerandomlittlechannel7860 - The first bit is certainly true. Hanks loves the sound of his own voice and gives long answers to many questions. Not necessarily a bad thing,
If you don't want to listen to Tom Hanks talk about movies then . . . you don't have to. Complaining about something that nobody is forcing you to watch is weird.
His zoom name being Hanx is legendary😭
Tom is a living legend. Funny how he imitates Robert Zemeckis when he talks about him.

Loved this conversation! Thanks for pointing out the cultural impact of Philadelphia. People forget how huge it was
He Is The Legendary Of THE TERMINAL Movie...👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
“Start day 1 filming on Wednesday”
I’m gonna take this to heart
Great interview. Thanks Josh
I honestly think Philadelphia is one of the best movies ever made! I love that film
I love how they are in sync when they lean at 42:40 LMAO

Does he know that he was in 2 comic book movies? Road to perdition in 2002 and just recently with HERE.
Also comic book isn't a "genre" it's a medium with all kinds of stories that can be told. Not just superhero.
@@mttylerdurden9 HERE is a comic book movie?
@@OrionInSpace yep.

Fantastic. Thanks.
Excellent interview!
I like when Tom plays Nick Bryant
Turner and hooch is one of my favorite Tom movies!!
This is a great video Tom seems like a really nice guy
Tom Hanks as Jay Garrick!
He looks amazing for his age
Love this! 📽️🎞️🖤
Gotta get me one of those comfy looking Playtone pullovers
I also would like one.
Are ya’ll both baked, or just Tom? 😂 such a chill conversation!
A Tom Hanks acted, Jason Reitman directed film would be amazing.
I just had an image of them using wires to get Tom off the couch as a seventeen year old would. 😂

I can imagine Tom hanks as Mr freeze in a reeves Batman
Idiocracy is one movie that has found its audience.
Yes, on quinoa! And Pitt was one of my top choices, too. Scojo? Did he mean Scarjo?
Hanks was right that with current technology, we could make anything happen on the screen, but what's the story?
The reason

I wonder if that playtone hoodie was a set gift from that thing you do. Or made after.
Cloud Atlas my favorite film

“What is the story? The point of this is what?” Good question. I can ask myself why Toy Story 4 Tom? Or Toy Story 5?
Any "Toy Story 5" mention?
Lets hope not
04:23; this one.

People probably don't think about skipping intro clips. It's just 5-10 seconds.

There has only been one bad movie where Hanks had a large role imo. Ladykillers.
After Diddy, there will be Hanks
You have all the gossip huh? All the truth? You understand slander is illegal right?
@rickwelch8464 just facts. Pedogate 1, 2 and 3 by Mouthy Buddha (documentary) Watch that and see for yourself. Do NOT take my word for it
Clean your camera, Tom!
Preach brotha !
All you marvel dorks need to get better taste
Those movies suck !
Do something you've never done before, and yet they keep remaking "A Star is Born." Seems kind of ironic lol...
Isnt Hanx on the epstein list too?
Hey Tom, after this election. Are you still leaving like you said you would? Just asking.
Hanks is washed. 'Here' is horrible and bombed at the box office.
And what have you achieved in your miserable life, you pitiful waste of oxygen? Royally cunt off.
So did Wizard of Oz, It's a Wonderful Life, Citizen Kane and The Shawshank Redemption. What's your point?
@@simoncarswell3515he’s just being mean and petty.
No good movie ever bombed at the box office, right? What a sad existence you endure.

Hanks answer to one question can last 15 minutes.
I feel there is something sinister behind the facade to Hanks.
