I just used this build to finish this boss in NG+9 (cycle 10) in 1.0.9. There are 2 new tips I got during the fights: #1: If you find Boss cannot be frozen at the beginning of the fight, try to quit the main menu, then load the current game. I found that Boss gets easier to be frozen in first 3 or 4 fights after re-load the game. #2: Use Bat when Fan is activating and its effect is almost gone, no matter if Boss is at the edge of map, or not. btw: leave a comment if you're able to beat Boss with the above tips. 😁

Hey great video!. The funny thing is, ironically now i am finding Erlang and Great sage boss as easy bosses than other bosses now. My muscle memory is so high my hand automatically perfect dodging even without my concern. This is because Erlang and great sage boss are the most difficult boss i faced and it took me 6 hrs each to beat them both first time. For Erlang i rarely use fan now, so for him i can now easily defeat him with Yaksha armor and spell binder. Stone monkey is now nothing for me but great sage is taking 2 or 3 attempts. Love this game.
I was on NG+2 and was struggling, your build is perfect. I beat him on 3rd try with this build. Let me add to your build the Life Saving Strand spell and Guanyin's Willow Leaf soak which can give you up to 2 more lives

And To get Qi, you need to trigger enough Criti Hit. Besides the weapon+Curios, you need to use drink (Tiger Relic for 15s) and medicine (Amplification Pellet for 75s) to get higher criti Hit Chance.
My startegy always works. The fan,wight,all monkey king armor (critical not all defense wukong armor) ruyi jingubang, and stone monkey with immobilize,pluck of many,cloud step. With enhanced pills😅
People are trying too hard. Use tri-point staff with thrust stance. Spell binder and life saving strand and you’ll make do with him in no time. Just beat him with that strat on NG+3. You can completely trivialize the first phase by stun locking him pretty much the entire phase using the light attack to heavy thrust. Theres a couple attacks that can nab you in the second phase because the thrust doesn’t stun him every time anymore. Just gotta be good with the sudden dodges on his huge heavy attacks but once you get that down, you should be good. Got him down to 1/4th health in the second phase when I died but life saving strand brought me back with half a gourd and i finished him right quick easily.
Great information! I'm on NG+3, this strategy helped! In his 2nd phase, there were times I had to use a "stick and move" flow because my charges were low. Appreciate it!
How do you make the description appear in numbers of what the flasks give you, for example I in the game read "briefly increases the attack'' instead in yours I read ( +15 ATK ) , OR YOU READ THE SPECIFICATIONS OF EACH INCREASE THAT GIVES YOU ANYTHING, FOR EXAMPLE DRINKS WEAPON ARMS
The great sage is very weak to chill. That's how I beat him on NG+ .so you can use whatever you like on stone monkey then switch to the bat for the great sage
Later in the NG+ runs, I noticed that Bat is not the most optimized spirit for this build. I run the following. -Full golden build -Plantain Fan -Adept Spine -Celestial Birthstone Fragment -x3 Cat Eye beads - Amber Prayer Beads (Optional) ***Falcon Hermit*** -Although does not offer immune spirits summon, guarantees to free and has a much faster Qi build up. *** Bat *** Offer immunity on cast but does not guarantee freeze while having a longer Qi build up time but trades off for higher damage. I will switch to bat for less challenging enemies where control isn’t a must. You won’t use Crow Driver in late game for Mani Bead crit anymore once you stack up on amp potions.
if u want a cheese for erlang, use fan first dont hit him until his shield deplets otherwise he will attack back do some damage work when the tornado takes out his shield like ginseng or tiger pellets whatever just buff then after his shield gets down do a 4* heavy you need to take down 25% of his hp then phase 2 that big axe run towards him and dodge the clod flow that comes after he reaches down then use azure dust. except azure dust the remaining 8 transformations he will cancel them. and now repeat these steps 50% health phase 3 use fan again 75% health shield 4 use azure dust GG
Is your criti hit chance too low? With the build I used in vid, I can restore at least 90% of Fan with Spinning. And the rest 10% can be restored by 4 focus points attack.
This is very outdated. I used this exact same build and the bat doesn't even freeze this specific boss. I fully upgraded the bat just fyi. The immobilize spell does freeze it for 2 seconds that's it. This build works great with almost any boss including Erlang but not on this boss
Tried this today. Works like a charm. Easy boss fight. You clearly have a skill issue, and that's fine. You can win after you overcome this skill issue. Good luck.

Try using sunset of the nine skies to replenish the rest of your qi

Yes, it is. Erlang is easier to beat because he only has one health bar.

imao, falcon hermit spirit works in NG or NG+. But in higher NG, Bat still is the best spirit with Fan.
On the second phase sometime it doesn't proc the frozen then you are down... so need some luck to finalize properly

This still works. Even with the latest update. Timing is needed to get the bat to freeze great sage. If you do it after the fan, it won’t work.
