Thanks for reacting to my video. I really wasn't expecting it. sorry bout the loud music, its my first time making a video. yes, I learn how to make it completely out of spite. For people who are saying that the TL is off, the japanese don't usually use swear words in the first place, you have to contextualize their tone, and that person was using a very rude tone, which is why I localized it that way. I double checked my TL with my Japanese friends to make sure I'm not just defamating them.

I don't really see any issue with the translation. English was always more direct compared to Japanese as a language. The other guy was blatantly looking down on OP with the no english assumption(meaning he thought that op was an uneducated person cause he didnt had enough manners to say hi) You won't really think this amount of cursing is uncommon for an english speaker so imo its a pretty accurate localization.

My 3 and a half years experience playing this game in jp server, something like this happened to me twice. One of them is when i was playing as a healer on doma castle, i was moving together side by side with the tank when he's doing w2w so i can heal while moving. Suddenly the tank just stop and not hitting any button, after a while he said in the party chat that apparently i was moving ahead of him and the tank should be the one leading. I don't even know wtf is happening, is this some kind of rp or something. After a while i just decided to fuck it and ask the others to do the rest of the dungeon without the tank saying i can heal them just fine. The dps said the tank tried to vote kick me but decided not to and we vote kick him on before the final boss. Shit left me baffled.

One of the reasons why there is a distinctive divide between japanese and english speaking communities is because the auto translate function only does english to japanese, but not vice versa. I tried joining a japanese PF for Zeromus(arguably the easiest EX trial in EW), i had to strung up simple words like ' 攻略ok!!!' to have them understand that I know the fight inside out. They were silent throughout the whole run, despite a couple a couple of wipes on a few other member's parts. It was only after the clear they begin to get chattery again. I gave a お疲れ様ですして in chat, emote an Eastern Bow to each member, then left. Man it was awkward as hell not being able to discuss strategies. I'd be totally fine even if they want me to adjust my role position for anyone in the party, just that none of them were able to convey such messages to me and vice versa.
Square Enix's lack of support for english speaking consumers in SEA region is dismal. This is why I don't get why dramas happens so much in NA : The region that only has one language in its demographic and yet people abuse the hell out of communication tools to be toxic and negative to others.

I've never seen anyone say 攻略 but if you know the fight its better to say クリア済み if you've cleared or ギミック全部見ました if you've at least seen all the mechs. JP people already don't talk to each other very much unless they're already in the same social group like a LS or FC. If it was a clear/reclear party no one is going to want to talk. I've even joined fresh prog pfs where no one said anything because the assumption is that you've watched a guide and know what to do, you just need to practice it yourself. If you want to chat through strats then a JP party is not the place to do it imo

LOL, I play in JP servers with some friends from Hong Kong. Never had an issue so far, even using the Type+Tab to send those premade messages. The only problem I had was playing scholar while doing MSQ and having to heal the Dungeons, there people are reaaaaally learning and patience is completely needed. The Tank and DRG died several times, but always asking "sorry" and "thank you" after being rescued or rez'd. Was funny tho, I was laughing all the time and learned that its best if I stick as SMN for a while (I am not good at healing but dying in single pulls is something completely new to me, I had to fully dedicate heal to keep them alive).

I'm pretty sure that's a non-JP person who can speak/write japanese. No sane JP player in roulettes will ever speak aside from greetings, giving thanks or give advice if you did something wrong. If party wipes, they give it a couple more tries before just leaving if it still fail. If they want to be toxic, they're doing it in PF. They outright decline non-JP players.

I used to be on Elemental DC, I left over two years ago and I transferred my character off there. My old FC is still there, but it is being run by an old associate from SEA who has since moved to NA but they made an alt to log in every once and a while to keep their FC house up... why? I don't know *shrug*. Anyway, there was always this unwritten rule of social conduct on Elemental due to the constant tensions between the Japanese playerbase and non-Japanese there. Most Japanese players transferred to the other two Datacentres simply because they all have this attitude and mindset that non-Japanese are rude and they just assume that all non-Japanese are rude and they shouldn't be there.
The few that remained kept to themselves while the non-Japanese kept to themselves too. None of the Japanese hanged out in the cities, they were all populated by Non-Japanese; The Japanese players all tended to hang out inside their FCs, none of them were in big FCs, all their FCs are small, roughly 6 to 20 people at most. The only time I ever saw them in cities was when they needed to visit the Grand Company vendors or their command squadrons. I sometimes bumped into Japanese neighbours in the housing zone where my house was as they were loitering outside their FC as they were loaded back into the game world from an instance or were waiting to go back to an instance or visiting the market board. They were curious as to why an english speaker was here instead of in the city, I told them I like to be by myself most of the time. They never bothered me again after that, I still greeted them every day and I think they liked me because I practiced what is expected as a social norm.
The Japanese players had their own PF groups, we non-Japanese had ours. The only times I ever bumped into Japanese players were in roulettes, Bojza's, Eureka and content that non-Japanese have no interest in such as Blue Mage stuff and guildhests, which were both exclusively Japanese populated for the most part.
There was an unwritten social conduct expectation there (which is why they think non-Japanese are rude) where it is expected of you to type "let's do it!" or "hello!" etc at the start of a dungeon and "I had fun! or thankyou" at the end. This wasn't done because you're being nice, it was socially expected. Also the Japanese players do not like playing with non-Japanese in PF because the always assume the non-Japanese do not understand the strats the Japanese players use and will mess up because of communication barriers, so weary of this they prefer to not play with non-Japanese if given the choice.
After the OCE servers opened; This tolerance of non-Japanese diminished; Now they are actively hostile towards non-Japanese, because they believe everyone from SEA and OCE should be on OCE and not on Elemental. Most from SEA chose to stay on Elemental and not move to OCE because Japan still has better ping for them than OCE, there is a longer distance between SEA and Sydney than there is of SEA and Tokyo, which is something the Japanese players do not care about, they just want all the SEA people to go to OCE and want the remaining NZ/AU players to also leave. They don't care that OCE has a small population and bad queue times, they don't care that OCE's problem of a small population is getting worse because people are leaving because it has a small population. They don't care that SEA and people in Western Australia operate on a different timeline to that of the East Coast and New Zealand; The Japanese players just see non-Japanese as rude annoying people who are disruptive and don't communicate and they want them off and since the OCE server exists, they see it now as no excuse to remain on Elemental.

I also left the JP server around 2 years ago. I can speak a lil bit of japanese, but I still feel like an outsider and it's kinda sad when they perceive us non japanese as rude just because we don't speak the same language.
There are nice and kind japanese players, but the unwritten rule is just too much for me cause I'm pretty casual back then.
I'm SEA player, so it doesn't really matter where I move, the connection is still dogshit anyway 😂 glad I finally found home in eu

My experience with randoms is always far better than any experience I had trying to be in NA players where all people want to do was ERP with strangers or if you're remotely good at the game - not even a raider, just decent in dungeons, you're a toxic try-hard. The greeting thing? Do you know how much content i've queued in where no one said anything and people rushed out as fast as possible? That's more common than people sticking around for greetings and goodbyes.

we must be living in two completely different dimensions because I never experienced this. Are some JP players impatient with foreigners? Sure. But NA ppl are mostly from the US and they're even worse lmao
I've been accepted into a JP FC with my shitty intermediate Japanese and they even raided with me for fun. I have JP friends from different servers in Ele. I've had friends specifically tell me they like being on Ele to meet more people. One friend even said he trusts foreigners more than Japanese cause they'll at least be honest about what they're thinking. We can all make our anecdotal claims, but don't be surprised if you can't break into JP spheres if you don't even try to bridge the gap.

Very surprising that someone will call out another who didn't do greetings. Usually JP players will keep quiet and not even comment at all, so if there is one who are "noisy" they are indeed an anomaly. Also that translation is totally off. Like dude, I'm a tank, I'm expected to go and pull things. I'm also on a controller and I can't type. But if I don't do a greeting this guy thinks I'm rude and ragequits? Ok.
First time I've ever encountered such a level of toxicity, been playing on Elemental since the beginning of Endwalker. I've actually made a PF with JP players before for DR for the Shadowbringer Relic weapon and I told them I only knew a little JP and the JP players were still happy to help me. So I dunno what this guy's problem was lol.

I am Japanese, I was on JP server with NA players for FF11 online for 8 years back in the day. I will tell you what Japanese people won't tell to gaijin. There are a lot of resentments between gaijin players back in the day. We honestly believed they have ruined the game with rude behaviors with cavalier attitude. There were many and so many misunderstandings I couldn't list all here due to cultural differences. For instant, Japanese players are very strict with time. We all are in one time zone unlike NA and others. We establish how long we play and agree when to quit at the beginning of the activity. Deviation from it is rare. I remember there were instances where NA player beg JP group members to stay for few minutes long to level up. For us Japanese, we felt embarrassed to even hear the begging. But also angry for making us feel bad for following our established acknowledgement. When JP party refuse to leave with that sentiment while NA player feeling JPs are jerk for not offering kindness. This is just a small example of what happens between interactions from different culture. Imagine these things accumulates and eventually becomes a whole mess. At some point, we started a JPonly tag on LFP. Soon, it was met with JPonry meme from the NA, mocking the JP players.

I used to play 11 back during the launch up until Chains of Promathia was almost over, and because I had a horrible work schedule I could only play FFXI from 1AM PST until 6AM PST, which coincided with peak Japanese times. I actually made a good friend that invited me to play PSO2 with him when that launched, but I remember they were always strict on time, like on weekdays there was this 5-6 hour window where everyone played, and if you joined a party it was a minimum 2 hour commitment.
The racism was unreal too, from both sides, and the auto-translate was so bad unless you kept it EXTREMELY simple.

Have been playing for an year now. Always in Kujata, elemental, since i heard it along side tomberry had the largest english speaking communities in JP. I have never heard a complaint of JP players except when when i joined a couple JP PFs but even then I tried my best to communicate and we disbanded due to the party not being able to clear and never any of them expressed displeasure with playing with a foreigner beyond ''I'm sorry but we need to communicate our strats better and this isn't quite working, thank you and good luck''. I rarely greet people when I join any instance, at best I emote at them before leaving and no one has ever complained. In my experience JP players just leave when they have had enough.
