Seriously, I can't get enough of you. The combination of your tight alto harmonies, the plunkiness of the banjo, the sacred harp songs, and the lo-fi-ness of the videos all lend you this mysterious/ritualistic kind of sound. It is so beautiful. God, I wish I knew you were in Northampton when I lived there! I hope you continue to broaden your sound.
I am very impressed by the banjo harmonies and Sacred harp combo. I am glad I found your music. I am a huge Tim Eriksen fan. I am sure you all are too. Keep it up......music is a gift from God, and I am sure it pleases Him to hear your blended voices and harmonies! Great job!!!
Sadhbhishness, you must be singing with the Sing organized by Juniper Hill, would that be right? I'm just up here in Limerick at the Irish World Academy and am a big fan of Molly and Maggie. Thanks to their lovely sounds I've been inspired to add Sacred Harp to the global music choir I direct here in my MA course, and am trying to lure a few of the trad banjo majors to "sing" with their banjos like Molly & Maggie do. We should get the Ephemeral String band out here to the Emerald Isle!
Really nice . Thanks again . Have you listened to West Gallery music here on YT yet ?? Have a listen to Bruce Randell out of Boston .. All the best , Guy
You girls just get better and better. When is your CD out and where can I buy it? There is a special magic in the harmony of your voices and instrumental playing...so rare!
Only one minor thing--I like the way the Sacred Harp does the rhythm on "praise God." There's a dotted rhythm on "praise" that I think is really cool. Here, you've switched it to two notes on "God." I'd be happy if you'd put it back the way it is in SH because I think that way is musically more interesting. Overall, though, great, and I enjoy your music!
Maggie plays a gibson tenor transformed into a 5 string. Molly plays a Ramsey. We use the 1991 edition of The Sacred Harp.
Rock on!
From an old Sacred Harp singer. You girls really did a great job, singing the notes, playing the banjos and singing the old song. LOVE IT!!
