Thanks for this video and hymn. I love Sacred Harp. I work in ministry, in my 30's my wife and I work with folks who are suffering a lot in the mountains here. Grace based restoration is such a central theme in this life. You're video and music helped me feel closer to Jesus today. I appreciate it. God bless
This is my favorite hymn. I have been watching your videos for some time, don't know how I missed it. Your version is just great, and it brings back lots of good memories.
Beautiful! I'm glad to see that others are interested in adding instruments with Sacred Harp - particularly when you have to go alone. I am working on 114 (Saint's Delight) for Autoharp...
im in the UK and I listen to this every weekhave done for 4 years or so. your beutiful and the music is fab i have a banjo but hell i need to learn claw etc in UK its a hell of a difference x
Nice banjo harmony ! Great intervals again on the singing. Have you heard "The Young Tradition" from England in the 60's . You would enjoy their harmonies . Thanks for this , Guy
mostly yes - my banjo is tuned to saw mill but the fifth string is dropped low to match the bottom string because I don't have spikes in my banjo neck.
Hey, sounds great. The tune reminds me very much of John Roberts and Tony Barrands, " The False Lady", out of "Dark Ships In The Forest". At least, the banjo is vary similar. I love it, in any case. Having listened to this a few dozen times (not all in one sitting), I really wish I was allowed to "like" it more than once. "Like" isn't always a strong enough adjective, you know?
@banjoape ~ Check out an eagle claw fifth string capo. It doesn't require spikes and all you need is to reassemble the fifth string tuning peg. But what you did works. And it works beautifully. That's one of the prettiest duets I've heard. Thanks. (I ordered one from Banjos dot com. They're based out of Georgia. Google them and give them a call. The eagle claw system works real well and you don't do anything to your banjo.
Hi there I am just learning to play the banjo folk style. I love your picking style and your pick of songs. I learned about your music thru Banjo Hangout, you might want to check it out.
If I could, I would force-feed your hauntingly beautiful video to all those wretchedly ignorant people who, when they hear even the WORD "banjo", automatically think of the kid on the porch, from "Deliverance", and have no idea what beauty can be achieved by simple clawhammer playing. You might enjoy seeing my "Squared Eel" banjo on TH-cam.

You guys are always worth listening to. You put it over with real soul and conviction. My favourite favourite.

Nice work. I've always loved this song...it's a different melody than I'm used to. I love the sound of the harmony banjos. Rock on.
This just goes to show that music is not a contest, it's a gift.

Very lovely. Hearing this, I have a feeling of order being restored in the universe.
That is great. I've never heard a song arranged like that, almost like "banjo counterpoint". Great singing too. Well done
