Certainly the best female vocalist I have ever heard. Better than Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey. She can match anyone's range and power. But Ann brings another element of greatness. Ann Wilson conveys emotion like no one else when she sings. Prove me wrong.
When they did the Kennedy Center Honors tribute to Led Zepplin and sang "Stairway to Heaven" I remember thinking how she blew an entire backup choir of about 100 people out of the water because, well, that's just what she does. WHAT A VOICE!!!
I thought the same thing! Here's a massive choir, backup singers, musicians all blasting and there was Ann and her voice at the same time anchoring the entire performance but also rising above it. What a legend!
The first time I heard this I was driving with my daughters. When it finished, we sat in stunned silence until one of us finally said...' I think we should hear that again'.
Try the Late Bobby Hatfield of the Roghteous Bros he goes into the stratosphere with the high notes. The best one is the live performance from the Andy Wiliiams Show. 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍👍👏👏👏
This song was absolutely destined to be graced with the unequalled, impeccable vocal stylings of the legendary Anne Wilson! I was blown away by her rendition of the song the first time I heard it!! ❤❤❤ Anne, no one can ever come close to your amazing passion and vocal artistry!!!
I saw Ann Wilson do this song at a concert in Austin many decades ago totally A Capella. The music is such a distraction to her voice. Her rendition was ABSOLUTELY flawless, and hands down the most beautiful rendition of this song I have ever heard in my 76 years on this planet. Thank you , Ann for changing my life in regards to one of the most beautiful love songs ever written.
LONG time Heart fan, but I've never hear Ann hit these high notes before. As usual, she rocks! Heard them in concert 30 years apart, and Ann can still bring it!!
Amazing! I've been a Heart fan for decades, going back to when I bought their first album in 1976. But here in 2021, I just found out they did this song, and hearing it now for the very first time! How the hell did I go over 40+ years without knowing about their version of this song?
Same here Charlene, I stumbled upon it looking for the year they covered "Tell It Like It Is", after seeing the video on Vevo. Their covers are ALWAYS better than the originals!! Including "Stairway..."
It was on their greatest hits/live album. My mom had the cassette and this one and Love Hurts were the last two songs on the tape. She sings Love Hurts beautifully as well. I’m not able to find those two track to download so I have to come to TH-cam to listen to them.
I was so fortunate to be able to see them perform this in concert, way back when! Nancy was playing piano. Ann came up to her, put her hand on Nancy’s shoulder and sang most of the song standing next to her. 💖💕💖 I believe this live recording is on their Greatest Hits Live vinyl album.
Patrick Jordan I love Ann Wilson too! Heart were a big band in the 70's and 80's. They broke the mold of a lot of rock bands. They had similar styles to Led Zeppelin, Journey, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, and many others. To me, Journey and Heart have the most similar sound. I would have really loved hearing Ann Wilson and Steve Perry sing a duet back in the 80's.
I first heard this incredible version of Unchained Melody when i put a Heart CD in my car CD player as i was leaving Vegas, at 1am, on my way back to Phoenix. I was so blown away by this version that i played it over and over till i reached Phoenix (4 and a half hours). The lady has great pipes.
Thanks for sharing. Ann Wilson you have an amazing talent, I love Nancy too, but your voice is really quite something... I´ve been your fan through all these years. I love you guys, you´ve been an inspiration for a whole female generation.
I love Heart. Grew up with them. Ann certainly puts her on spin on this song but Bobby Hatfield makes it more of a love song. Can’t beat his version, imo.
I have heard a lot of Renditions by Ann Wilson this song by far is her strongest performance I have ever heard her saying she hits notes that are through the stratosphere and even in her 70s hearing her sing dream on another tough song to tackle plus All Good People by yes Foreman will not back down from any challenge the true rock legend I am literally bawling I her feet right now she is a gift from the heavens ❤️ ❤️ nothing more to be said drop the mic she its god-given XOXO
I have heard every version of this song. And I have been to almost every show you and your sister have put on since the 70's. I am a Seattle girl! My late husband and I decided Elvis made us cry, but Annie just belt's it out more than the original from the Righteous Brother's, which I saw at parkers. Love the girl's from Seattle always!
Ann isn't just a Rock and Roll singer. She's an amazing Singer. 1:55 the way she sings it made me cry and I don't know why. The way she says "Oooooh, my Love."
Rene Aensland when she sings "Ooooooh my love" at 1:55 I get legit chills! But the most bone chilling part is when she hits "I NEEEEEEEEEEEEEED your lo-o-o-o-o-ove!" At 2:42!
Mariah Carey must have heard this when she was a kid and thought... one day I would love to sing like her. It's hard to compare voices, as this is rock, but I'd back street fighter Ann every time - against anyone. Simply the greatest... perfection.
Must confess I just leraned that "The Wilson Lasses" had it recorded too! Althought U2 and Air Supply covers - for example - are amazing. This' the best!
This live version of Unchained Melody by Heart was recorded at McNichols Arena, Denver, CO, in September, 1980. It was included on the Vinyl Version of the Album "Greatest Hits/Live" which was released on November 29th, 1980 and released as a single in 1981.
chijanofuji That's correct! those who owned the original vinyl still miss the track not included in the CD released years later. Besides... this is THE BEST performance for this memorable song.
+Marcelo Soto-Quiroga I had that original vinyl, and loved this version of the song. Years later, I bought the CD and was so disappointed that they left it off!
I was at this concert. I was just lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. I was right out of Marine Corps bootcamp and in combat cameraman school at Lowrey AFB CO. This song and Led Zeppelin's Rock and Roll were the encore songs. It was an awesome night. I most recently saw them in Tulsa at the casino in a small setting and awesome again. One last time I will see them in the Cajundome in Lafayette La. four days before I see Guns n Roses at the VooDooFest in New Orleans City Park.
Absolutely incredible. I've not heard this for many years, I was totally disappointed when it fell off all the digital albums. I have the original LP version. I'd love to find some video to go with the wonderful vocals.
It's a B just below the high C . Ann can hit C6 and C#6 back in the day. Her chest voice is the most impressive. All the way to a G# and she still has all the power of her lower belts. Now that you mention it she may have hit a high C somewhere towards the end .
I saw Heart in Austin Texas. They began this song and the POLICE officers came inside the arena to listen. Ann is my idol. Can a female rocker have any more range? Or passion? Or , dare I say it...HEART? And Nancy is great too on the songs where she gets to show case her virtuosity. LOVE this band. And interestingly, the first time I saw the, some assholes behind me had never heard of them and were hating on them about "yeahhh, they are some kind of rock band with a CHICK guitarist or whatever". And next thing you know "Barracuda" was playing and they shut the hell up. Loved it, loved Heart and never stopped. No wonder they were asked to do tribute to fucking LED ZEPPLIN in front of LED ZEPPLIN. That says it all.
Then you haven’t heard the 1965 version by the Righteous Brothers on the Andy Williams show. Considered by many to be the greatest live recording ever.
Heart . Your songs haunt me after all the years. May your music live forever! I am also using a song or two in my "One Time Only" art show if that's okay with you.
Just indescribable, Ann's voice. Side note, I grew up in Edmonds WA, Mike Derosier would sometimes show up to our keggers. A bit too old, but who cared?
Unbeatable... the most passionate version of this song ever made. Period. Seems Nancy's throat was on fire by that years... she's reaching a high B like an opera singer.

This woman and her voice are a true gift from God. No one can come close to this.....absolutely stunning. Thank you Ann for sharing your gift with us.
PURE TRUTH, THANK MY GOOD GOD FOR ANN'S LIFE
Both of them have great voices

The best version ever!
This song is the sole property of Ann Wilson. Sorry Righteous Brothers. Heart now owns this song.
@@summermcpherson8209 Along with their version of Zeppelins Rock and Roll live.
I get chills when Anne hits the high notes. Unbelievable. That is one of the hardest songs ever to sing.

Try the Late Bobby Hatfield of the Roghteous Bros he goes into the stratosphere with the high notes. The best one is the live performance from the Andy Wiliiams Show.

I agree so do I. She by far sings it the best I've ever heard. Cant Express how well done this song was done. Words cant describe
Damn she can hit them hi notes
Only Roy Orbison and Ann Wilson can put me to tears.. she is an angel
