IMO the guitar does the storytelling of their music. People who aren’t fond of instrumental bands may like Asterism’s music because of the skill of Hal Ca on guitar.

It's been a long time since you took a look at them, but for musicianship in a three-piece you might want to revisit Sokoninaru. I'd recommend "最低" - Saitei (among many others), once you get used to their style it's just so addictive.
Plus, coming of Asterism their wild genre-hopping might not be *as* jarring :)
Other than that, Asterism rocks - hard ❤‍🔥🤘

Yes, the guys are extremely gifted. Not to mention Hal-Ca. A megatalented girl who combines both natural modesty and charisma in a sea of emotion and passion. The technical level of this young lady allows us to say that she is one of the strongest guitarists in the world. And overall, this trio has no equal in the world of instrumental music. A unique band.
Haruka has a birthday today. Congratulations and wish you much creative success!)
And yes, with vocals Hal-Ca. And not bad at all) th-cam.com/video/h5_Ked0iNXE/w-d-xo.html

Check out their first music video. Rising Moon. Think that they was 16 yo at the time. There is a studio live version as well but the camera is very flimsy but.. yes this band is amazing! *edit* found this fancamrecording from live concert from 15/11-22. Not so great sound BUT she plays with her new ESP. and as long they don't sin the sound is acceptabel. The singing is very bad mixed. There are several videos from this small concert that this guy has uploaded. th-cam.com/video/n4l8jA421bM/w-d-xo.html

They are very skilled, there's no doubt about it. But after listening to it, can you replicate it as a whole and sing it in your mind or outloud in your house? Can you just walk on the streets humming the melody ? I doubt that. In my opinion any song I can't sing it for myself it lasks a melodic line. Although the bits and pieces of that song are on their own melodic, they don't come together as a whole. For me it's just a display of skills wich are indeed very well done. One band I really love that plays only instrumental metal, is Distant Dream. I can sing on my own any song by them. I suggest you to try "Sleeping waves" from the album "It all starts from pieces". Any other song from this album will do...the whole album is perfect.

Interesting take. Yes I do hum the melodic lines from a number of Asterism songs and they stick in my head for days. For me that's what sets them apart from bands like D Drive or Sokoninaru (which does have vocals). Those bands also have extreme levels of talent but don't have the earworm effect some of Hal-Ca's songs have. Also remember that there are huge sections of music (classical, jazz) which have no vocals.

I think it is just the way different people process music. I don't sing along in my head. Hum along may be more accurate. It may be why I like vocal music where I don't understand the language (African and Japanese) and a lot of people don't. There are plenty of music without vocals that I hear in my head for days. I appreciate vocal music too but seem to appreciate instrumentals more than a lot of people. Explains why instrumental rock/metal bands have a hard time. Hal-Ca ays a mean jazz style guitar also.

Well, honestly I CAN replicate their songs and hum the melodies. I actually do that a lot.
So, now what with your theory? 😏

@•★ELECTRIC•GODDESS★• I usually care for some good argumentation, not for cheap girly irony. Can you do better than this or are you stuck in the fifth grade ?

All of Hal-Ca's godlike solos are quietly repeated in my mind, by memory, down to the smallest detail. Haruka's playing is fast, technical, and very emotional. If anyone can't remember her music, they should listen to something much simpler.
